I'm glad Heaton directed me your way. Your style is different from a lot of the photographers I follow so it really gives me a new perspective to consider. This is also an example of what I like about the photography community. Heaton has a big following, yet is willing to promote your photography as well and acknowledge there is something to your style that maybe his style lacks.
I am very grateful he recommended me. It’s a tough platform!
So pleased that Thomas Heaton acknowledges the respect you truly deserve. Such a relaxed manner of narration has helped me learn to unwind and enjoy my outings. I used to get frustrated, instead of enjoying my outings whilst struggling for compositions. Thankyou.
Perfect mix of biology lecture and nature images !!! Now don't let the CZcams algorithm influence your current style and quality.....
I find your knowledge of your surroundings as much a pleasure to listen to as your explanations taking us through your composition.
It seems that I too, owe Mr. Heaton a breakfast or two, for introducing your channel to me.
He needs a bit of fattening up!
I'm one of those people who have come to your channel via Thomas Heaton. I really enjoy your take on woodland photography and how you find compositions in things I would walk past and never consider. You have helped me to see the woods in a much more detailed way. Where I am from there just are not that many misty mornings and twisted trees with moss covered branches that seem so popular to photograph so being able to see things in a different way makes for a much more interesting walk in the woods.
Thanks for the nod Jeff. Glad to have helped.
I'm delighted that your figures have a much deserved boost.
I can't tell you how much I appreciated the very small mention of the ivy vine perspective you did in the beginning of the video. Perspective. That's 100% what it is.
I am also wanna thank Heaton , because he introduced one of the best photographer to me for my learning .
Thank you
The woodland pano is to die for. Thank you
You, Thomas and Adam Gibbs are my favorites on CZcams. Keep having fun and thank you.
That's excellent company Mark, thanks.
Thank you Simon for sharing the beauty in chaos and your evident appreciation for and knowledge of the natural environment.
Came here thanks to Thomas, staying because I like your approach and the inspiration I get from your videos.
very interesting video. fantastic nature shots. wonderful pictures. thank you very much for posting. kind regards...
To me you are an artist as well as a teacher. Both aspects of your videos I enjoy equally. Thank you!
The panoramic is beautiful!
This was an interesting interplay between two professionals that I have been following for some time. When the online environment is often the source of pettiness and unrestrained self promotion, it’s very rewarding to see the respectful interplay between honorable persons displaying the character we benefit of seeing more of. Thanks to both of you.
i just love that you show your pictures matted....so impact-full
You make the seemingly mundane become beautiful.👍
The second photo looks like a landscape from above. Very nice. And the photo with the trees is beautyful. I loved it.
I started viewing because of the Heaton referral... I am staying because of your excellent content... "see what I can find" is a wonderful mind set for a walk in the woods... it is amazing what you can see when you look over your shoulder (3:00 min mark)... I appreciate your understanding of the interactions in nature... the ivy vines... wow... a stunning forest pano... your attention to the little details, the macro and or intimate landscapes strikes a very positive chord... Thank You
Many thanks Dave. Glad to have you here.
You really know how to find extraordinary beauty in seemingly ordinary things.
Thanks Chris. I enjoy the hunt!
Stunning work ,,stunning place !!!!!! GOD BLESS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The way you think about what you're photographing deseves 10m followers. I will be watching all your videos sir.
Beautiful discovery - Thanks Thomas! Thanks Simon!
Yes but we’ll deserved Simon. Easy watching but also good learning
Beautiful capture of what Nature shared this day. No pressure, we are all along for the ride in this lovely life. Snap shot on!
Absolutely love your images Simon
Loved the last shot of the pine cones and the swirling patterns they make. I'm blown away by the amount of fine detail you're getting. 👍
Congratulations! Well deserved! Your eye for detail is wonderful! You see the most extraordinary things. And I love it that you teach us about nature as well as photography.
Thanks for that Karen
Your skill at finding those little scenes is really inspiring. The three woodland floor photos make an amazing triptych telling the story of the woodland!
Hi Simon, Thomas also pointed me in your direction and I'm glad he did, not only has he done you a favour but also to all of those who have tuned in to your personal view of your surrounding woodlands. An excellent informative video
I am so glad that Mr H directed more people to your channel. I always enjoy your approach to finding images and I am sure the newbies will too.
Many thanks Tony.
Most people don´t watch the ground were they going. You do, you see and make wounderful images :-)
A very pleasing, "low key", relaxed style [Ignore the perceived "pressure"!]
Culminating with some superb images.
Thank you.
You deserve people to know about you ,Well done Thomas
Very inspiring video. The last shot was beautiful
3rd image was my favourite. Stunning, lovely work.
Thank you so much 😀
That stand of trees simply stunning Simon and pressure what pressure you nailed it. Congrats.
I always feel the pressure Paul. Cheers again.
I find all your images truly inspirational 🙏
Congratulations "Hi very inspiring video Simon. Love amazing images and woodland photography. 👍❤
I have to thank Mr. Heaton as well. Before I knew a stitch about composition, I went for photos like yours. I’m always head down in the floor of the forest or taking shots of trees all grouped together as they were meant to be (even though this was a plantation). You’re helping me learn how to do it better. Thank-you. Lovely music, good video, and really appreciate your joy of and fascination with nature.
I too am one of your new followers after Thomas Heaton’s introduction and I thank him for that. I only wish I could have found your channel sooner as I find your knowledge and appreciation of nature both instructional and inspirational. Thank you so much.
You totally deserve it Simon. Master of the intimate landscape :)
Thanks Simon. I do still enjoy the bigger scenes and nearly always set out to do these first, but conditions force me to the smaller scenes most of the time. I like to adapt with the day.
Yes thanks to Thomas Heaton for pointing out your channel. So well done. Photos were great as always and I especially love the second one from the end.
Glad you enjoyed it
Yes I'm another one to visit you though Thomas Heaton you deserve it keep up the good work
Heaton sent me here. Very glad he did.
Magical and inspiring.
Amazing work Simon, its a joy watching your videos
So glad I found this channel through Thomas. Whereas he does more wide vistas and landscapes, you do more intimate type shots. I love both, but in my area I struggle to find the vistas. So this more intimate type of photography is right up my alley! I do wonder why you choose certain settings such as f19 and f16 and the longer shutter speeds. Maybe some explanation of those settings for each shot you take would be helpful! Love the channel and I’m hooked!
Thank you. I choose apertures that suit the scene really. I shoot many of my close up's for example at f4, but it depends on the effect I'm going for! Every situation is different and it's why I don't go too deep into explaining the settings for each shot.
You continue to inspire me Simon. Thank you. Your increase in subscribers is very well deserved. Best regards - Robin
Congratulations on doubling your subscribers. Whilst Tom Heaton has directed many of them they wouldn't have subscribed if they hadn't liked what they saw. Thoroughly deserved thumbs up from TH. Keep up the great work and thank you for opening my eyes to the small but beautiful scenes that you can find to photograph.
Always enjoy your videos Simon. Cheers.
Thanks Ash. You've had three years worth of me :-)
Happy for you Simon with the channel explosion. You offer not just the photography but the knowledge of the nature around us. Good, strong images, especially the last one of the pine cones. 👍👍
Thanks James. Your comment means a lot. I had wondered whether some would feel aggrieved because I have had a leg up and not grown organically as I suppose we should really. I'm dead pleased but a little daunted by it! I hate pressure! The cones at the end were my favourite of the day too!
I concur with the others... I'm so glad Heaton pointed to your video. I enjoy your style and ease moving through a scene.
Congratulations on being shouted out by Thomas Heaton! That's wonderful👏
Loved this video and the way you describe the nature elements of the compositions you took and shared 😊👍
I love the attention to detail ... well done!
Very well deserved and very kind of Thomas to spotlight your channel, you always put out very good content, now I will go back and continue watching.
Hope it was worthwhile John. Yes the recent growth has been incredible. I have much to live up to now!
After he mentioned your channel I binge watched almost all your videos. I am so happy I found your channel... it got me motivated to get back out in the woods walking and taking photos.
That is brilliant Mike. thank you!
Loved the images. Very inspiring.
Beautiful images 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
So pleased to see your awareness of bat usage of ivy and highlighting it for those who may to otherwise be aware of this! Another brilliant and informative video Simon 👍👌
Lovely woodland video, favourite shot was the last one of all the fir cones. Lovely contrast of light and shadows on the various cones 👏👏
That last shot was beautiful, well worth the time to find it. Well done. Pete
Pre-Heaton follower. Stay the course. Agree with so many other comments here.
Another excellent tutorial. I just thoroughly enjoy the way in which you explain everything, and now you have a bigger audiance it's no more than you deserve.
Plaese keep them coming.
Definitely the acorns the shot of the day and something I will be looking out for. Keep well buddy
Hi Simon ! Interesting video ! Wonderful photos !!! Congratulations on subscribers !!!
I love the mix of big and small scenes in nature that you see and capture Simon. I've loved connecting to your videos and images. It is a real gift into the world and into the photography world. THANK YOU - I can appreciate the sense of oh oh, there's more watching now too.
Thank you Denise. I appreciate it very much!
Nice images, Simon. A nice walk in the woods. Enjoyed it and learned. Thanks.
I stumbled upon Thomas Heaton after Henry Turner, another outstanding landscape photgrapher, mentioned him in one of his episodes. Now, I’m a new subscriber of your thanks to Heaton!
I really enjoyed the video Simon. I love how you see possibilities in things that most of us just pass by. Thanks for sharing!!
Excellent images Simon 👍
I have to say Tom was right- I am impressed! Bats, ivy, grubs and all- I was glued to the screen- loved it! The big takeaway for me is that I am definitely looking in all the wrong places. Great Job!
Cheers to you
Glad to know I was one of the new subscribers who came from Heaton’s channel. I’ve been looking for a nature photographer who didn’t only shot landscapes. You’re it! You see really beautiful small shots in the forest. I too like to find such shots.
I really enjoy woodland photography myself, and I am learning from you .Looking forward to the next installment.
The praise was well deserved! Glad I learned of your channel. (These were all great images.)
Another great video Simon 👍🏻
Like others have said, I’m grateful that T.H. suggested people check out your channel. Your videos are excellent. I’m really enjoying going back to your older videos too. You are a natural teacher, and the time you take to make botanical and environmental observations makes it a really rich experience. Of today’s images, the last one and the panorama of the pines were my favourite. Congratulations on your sudden jump in followers. It’s well-deserved.
The images are just wonderful; moving and instructive in a way that leaves one with a larger appreciation of the natural world. Very fine!!!
That’s very kind of you Joseph
That's fantastic on the viewers.. well deserved.

Stay save 📷👍
People wouldn’t have followed you if you weren’t any good! It’s a great channel, love your style. Very refreshing.
I appreciate that Neil, thank you!
After watching you from the very beginning Simon, really pleased you are gaining more exposure and followers. Your style is quite personal building upon your extensive knowledge of nature and the environment, certainly adds to the photography content. Also highlighting the NW of the UK is nice to see. Excellent :-)
Your'e a trooper Richard, thank you.
Lovely images as always.
Very helpful and thoroughly enjoyable video. So glad that I along with thousands of others, have found you. Best wishes.
I came here a week ago because of Heaton. Very informative stuff.
Thank you Simon for the joy of seeing you at work. This is certainly one of the most exciting finds in my wilderness of utube university on Photography. Well, I was following Thomas Heaton for some years but I just happened to find you on my own just today. It may well be a result of watching Thomas too often but this was in deed one of most delightful videos and I'm just going to watch a few more. I'm also into photography: all sorts of things from the age of 14 or so which is a long time ago with very simple equipment in the early days. I'm going to learn a lot from watching your videos and for that I'm most grateful for sharing your joy with us all - the mere mortals in love with the world and light. Keep well and wish you good health and long years with us all.
Awe thanks for that heart warming message. So glad we folks on the channel found you too. Enjoy the films.
Thanks so much for this, and all your other videos, they are very inspiring. We are in Oregon under a cloud of smoke, locked inside, so to see my old home country looking this beautiful is a real treat.
Awe thanks John 🙏
Very good images Simon, 👌
Another Thomas Heaton referral here. Loved all of your abstract close-up images. Your panorama was really nice as well but your close-ups really stood out to me.
Well deserved increase in subscribers Simon and long overdue
Another great video, thanks Simon.
Glad you enjoyed it
I am so pleased your work has been credited by Heaton, I love your videos and the way you find beauty in the most sublime places. Going to watch that video now as been working hard in the Highlands and not had time to watch my favourite CZcamsrs.
Thank you so much 😊 and enjoy!
Yes, I, too, found Simon’s channel through Thomas’s.
