- I took the summer off from bowling league to spend more time with my wife & son! But also to really focus and work on my game! This is just the start of it and there's LOTS of broken parts but we will get there one way or another~! Thanks for all the support!

Something that helped with not coming around the ball was B n K’s video of Kyle teaching his camera guy how to bowl. Pointing the webbing between your index and middle finger towards your target down lane at release helped me out a ton. I definitely see more quick explosiveness on your release which helps get your thumb out faster. Keep it up Luis!
Oh I’ll have to watch that video!
I like to see your hand underneath the ball and your wrist cupped so you can get a little bit more revs on the ball and also bring your index finger closer to your middle finger so you can put more roll instead of akis rotation.
I agree. Needs to be more inside and underneath to get the better roll.
Thanks!!
No problem
Check out Mark Baker. I see ur arm is now falling (a good thing) thru ur shots. Whereas I could see u use to pull ur arm down (using arm muscle). Good work.
I need to try him out!
Might I recommend, Mark Baker😀
Ooh! Good suggestion.
Agreed!
I find it helpful, especially in the off season, to do the exact same thing. I have picked 3 (balance, leverage point, and developing a slow hook game) things that I have wanted to clear up and work on, and I have been going once a week just to make sure I get some practice in. One of the stipulations for my practice, though, is making sure that I can get some practice on sport patterns. House shots just end up making every ball look the same, so practicing on sport patterns helps me identify the main differences in my equipment and more how they relate with one another. Also helps me identify any holes that I may have in my arsenal so I know what I am missing and what I need to fill those spots.
Nice!!
This summer I'll be mostly working on my footwork. I tend to drift right, and a large first step is detracting from my second step. Once both of t hose are ironed out I'll be working more on getting under the ball and increasing revs.
TheBowlingNerd did a video showing Mark Baker's analysis of his form, and what he did to improve afterward. You should do something like that your audience will learn a lot too
Good thing!
I have been working on getting the ball higher when I start my approach to help me pick up more speed. Always been a low speed bowler low rev player and worked on it today for first time and the speed was almost a mile faster on screen. Just have to get the timing on the steps so it doesn’t hurt my knee that is very arthritic
How’s that going??
@@LuisNapoles It ended up causing some neck issues so went back to halfway between shoulder and waist. Hopefully this will be the fix I need
Mark Baker
According to MBB’s timing spot measurement of timing , Luis is perfectly in time in this video but he says he’s “late”.
He’s the best I hear!
I am taking the summer off also to give myself a break physically and mentally (especially mentally😊). I will do some practicing and I plan on working on my backswing, release and getting lower to the ground when I release the ball. Also playing a lot of basketball to keep moving for the summer. Good luck with the things you are working on!
Smart idea!
Everyone has an approach on how to improve, for me I work on things, but I need League (the competition) to be a real litmus test if I can still do it under pressure. I play in a fun league (non-sanctioned).
Fair!
You're the pro Luis, and I'm a nobody, so don't take offense. You obviously get good rotation on the ball. Since you're talking about timing in this video, I want to point out that your slide beats your follow-through by quite a bit. It looks like your swing has a pause when it's back. Maybe if you could eliminate that pause, you'd be ready to release the ball sooner - at the time you're sliding?? Just a thought. Also but unrelated. I got all of my arsenal converted to the JoPo system today, on your recommendation. I never had a removable thumb, and now I will never be without one. Thank you!
I’m no pro!
I generally do not comment on these videos. BUT... After watching this video I began watching some of your older videos. I was looking for 'How to build an arsenal' and your video popped up. While watching your video of 3yrs ago titled: "The PERFECT Three Arsenal for League" I noticed your hand placement on your release. It seems you had an 'almost' PERFECT release back then. Unlike now where you're really releasing on the 'side' of the ball... back then you were really BEHIND the ball. What happened???? I think what was very noticeable from that old video is your hand/wrist was CUPPED more. You had a very nice release back then.
I used to throw it much better and I have no idea how it changed
Big there i your body tilt in my opinion. Its just a bad setup. If you sit back more in your stance it will start your swing sooner and fix your timing and release in a one two punch. Small adjustments make a big difference. I personally have my own coach and go every week its the only way to get better consistently
I’ll try that
For me at times, I struggle with turning my wrist too much of the left and I gutter plus I tend to throw to the right too much. I have trouble throwing traditional jersey, but I do better backward Bowling better. The thing I need help with the most is getting my arm up as I finish my shot I could never able to do that if you can help me there that be great.
Thanks!!
I’d recommend standing taller through the first three steps and then let the power step naturally drop your hips with better spine tilt.
Thanks! Will do!
Hey Luis. I don’t think your swing is to high. I think you are just bending at the waist to much. Try keeping you just more towards your target and bend at the knee. That will definitely help you keep your hand under the ball as well. Looking a lot better tho all the way around. Keep it up. Great vids.
I agree with that , the more knee bend with the shoulders up has help me get my release better & more under the ball! Robert Smith has a release video out on his release, its a good video not that I will ever be Maximum Bob but good tips all the same.
Agreed!
It's difficult to try and think about multiple changes at one time. Better to cement one aspect then go to the next one.
Stick with one ball.
Throw 20-25 games (of shots)
/week, working on one aspect(keeping that hand/arm in place.
Then throw 20-25 games working on getting that release earlier.
Finally, add in some yo-yo effect for more down lane reaction.
Agreed!
One thing I always noticed when you weren't bowling as well is you would fall off sideways on a lot of your shots rather than staying straight ahead. I noticed that you didn't do that in any of the shots in this video, you stayed forward. I have a big problem with this, too, as well as leaning back rather than transferring my weight forward through the shot. On the surface, bowling is a really easy game, roll ball, hit pins. But being consistently good can be a struggle. I also have a problem of shooting my highest scores in week one. I hate that. Keep up the good work and hopefully next league you'll be where you want to be.
Need to work on that for sure!
Wow, that's a big difference in your backswing compared to usual! What you used to do seemed to work for you, but this does look more "normal" and looks better controlled.
As for what I'm working on? My release. And I wish I could make as much progress in doing what I want to do as it seems you were able to do quickly with your swing.
So broken right now!
Hey Luis! It's cool to see you were working with Johnny Petraglia Jr. He's here in NJ. Straight Up 5!!! I am working on when to change balls when the lanes start to transition. Moving boards and changing hand position only gets me so far. Getting steep, rolling a few splits isn't good... it's even worse when I am in a tournament. A few washouts and you are not making the cut.
He’s my guy!
I have to work on my loft. I can’t figure out how to put the ball down on the lane.
Me too!
When you leave pins, do you shoot at your spares or just reset the pins?
When I practice I practice with purpose! I don’t just bowl to bowl
Only my opinion but if you go back to your videos a little over a year ago your stance and backswing were much higher and quite honestly looked perfect. Mark baker is an excellent coach one of the things he said was the backswing isn’t that important only the bottom of the swing. I fell like when you swing and stance were higher the ball would roll out of your hand super smooth.
I been watching them! Work in progress!
Keep the crotch of your elbow pointing at your target line all the way through your release. Don't pull down with your hand/arm from your backswing. Use/feel your shoulder, if anything, and let it drop
I’ll work on that!
Taking applications for lead off bowler?
Maybe! Haha
@@LuisNapoles just got back into league, lefty bowling at Sante fe for summer.
Where's Montana hands? Put Chris on lead off.
He’s to high!
Cool video talk tech bowling Luis napoles
Thanks!!
@@LuisNapoles your welcome
I feel like your slide and swing are out of sync?
Maybe
@@LuisNapoles what’s your ball speed?
Working on the same things after seeing my average drop like a rock for the past two years. The difference is that I'm doing it in my non-sanctioned summer league. My teammates are beginning to suspect my motives, though... 😅
Keep going, bro! You got this!!! 💯🎳
Let’s make it happen!
Your game is continuing to improve. I do know a really awesome coach. Hes not in Vegas but does also offer virtual coaching and streaming coaching. Also question. Are you still excepting challenges from people who are coming to Vegas?? Keep up the grind. 🎳💪
Slowly but surely!
