  • Tutorial on how we built my new L shaped craft and sewing desk. I am by no means an expert on explaining how to build things but wanted to show you how we did it and bring you along through the whole process. My inspiration was 2 desk plans offered from Ashley at Handmade-Haven. She does a beautiful job on all of her pieces! I liked the design of her L shaped farmhouse desk and the functional shelves on her farmhouse office desk, so we combined the two :)

***If you are looking for the next step up from the PE800, the machine I would recommend is the Brother Innov-is NQ1600E - shrsl.com/28ivb This machine has both a 5x7 and 6x10 hoop so you can do bigger projects. Also it has extra features like it stitches faster than the PE800 so you finish things quicker and it cuts you jump stitches, which just trust me on this, you will LOVE this feature . This machine in a nice jump up from the PE800 but still much more affordable than fancy multi-needle machines that cost $$$.

You are lucky to have a Handyman for a husband. Unfortunately I have to buy my stuff and then pay someone to do it. But I enjoy my hobby and so I do what I have to do to make my little space comfortable.
Enjoy your new craft room. Thank you for sharing with us your process.

Hubby did great, is he a carpenter? I need one like that, but smaller.

His grandpa was a carpenter and he learned a few things from him when he was a teenager 😁

I like the desk. I admire people who diy their furniture. My husband won’t help me because he doesn’t like to do DIY projects. I have all ikea furniture. Oh I join your group. Are you planning to start a business too. Me too. I didn’t want to jump and start making whatever. I want to plan out my products.

Thanks! My husbands grandpa was a carpenter so he learned a few things from him when he was a teenager. I would love to get some Ikea storage in here but there is no store in Louisiana :( Thanks for joining the group! I currently have a tiny business just through friends and family but am thinking about setting up an Etsy shop.
