    I don’t know what it is but something about the fact one a cop turns their lights and sirens on and seeing people moving out of the way just makes me feel so good knowing that people are smart

    I liked the trucker trying to get the car in front of him to move to make way, not going to happen, if they would read the driver manual it says that all emergency vehicles have the right away.

      Tickets need to be handed out. I lived in HI for a yr. & if there was ever a code there's no way that person could/would survive. Absolutely no body moves. It drives me crazy it's a law that needs to be inforced.

      It’s seems like he was more honking to let other drivers be aware, to know there was a cop coming thru the intersection

      @dubious6718 Před 3 měsíci

      Its illegal to drive on red.
      If its a red light camera, he gets a ticket he has to pay.
      They have the right of way, when its safe to do so. Only time its ever safe to drive on red is when you get told by police, or there is a sign allowing you to turn right on red.

      @@dubious6718 at least in Europe, if you don't make space for emergency vehicles, that includes driving into intersections while the light is red, you get up a $250 ticket with 'licence points' and a 1 month licence suspension.
      I doubt the regulations in the US are much different.

      I think the point was just to show a cop cutting through thick traffic. Might not look it but that's actually pretty decent opening up in what is bumper to bumper snails speed traffic with a merging lane up ahead.

      Good observation. I wonder if another emergency vehicle coming to the intersection from either the left or right had already triggered the Opticom for their clearance. That may not be the case, however, since the cross traffic appeared to be very light and the other vehicle would not have been held up as long as "our" car. As a result, they should have already passed through the intersection and we should have seen their lights ahead of "us."

    Making way for first responders is called emergency vehicle egress in my area. I deal with that alot working for the DOT. Usually police and fire use the emergency lane for this purpose.
