- If you're an Animal Crossing veteran, you probably already know plenty of secrets that make Animal Crossing life and Tom Nook debt resolution even easier. But, there are quite a few things that Animal Crossing: New Horizons just doesn't tell you. We've gathered up a ton of little things New Horizons doesn't quite tell you:

Another tip : Look on the coastlines of an island. There will be washed up bottles on the beach. Pick them up, they have a crafting recipe inside.

Yeah I’ve been playing for a few days and just learned it oops
If you are trying to catch a tarantula or scorpion when you first catch their attention don't move and they won't chase you. Keep doing this until you get close enough to catch them.
Here's a tip for wasps. if you shake the tree from the front while holding your net your character will automatically face the nest
you will be standing right next to the nest and be looking right at it
all you have to do is do one quick swipe of the net, no moving required
this method requires little to no effort to catch the wasps without being stung

Only in the glowing hole though. You can't make money trees from putting money in a regular hole.
You can plant up to a 10k bag of bells.
So money grows on trees now?

I've already got 4 pets in my house. I always have a Horse Mackerel in every AC game, and i also have a Butterfly Fish, a Hermit Crab and a Tarantula. I'm loving the game so far.
I traveled to an island where only tarantulas spawned, I caught a bunch and made like 50'000 bells after I left
I caught 6 Coelacanths today. I remember in the previous games it was a pain to find them, now they seem to spawn like crazy as long as it's raining

It drives me crazy that they made the 'A' button speed up this animation and not 'B'. Although 'B' speeds up dialogue, you'd think it would also speed up the crafting animation but NOOOO
Tap twice. Hold down on your 2nd tap and it'll still speed craft.

Greatest tip i've heard:
Install a toilet somewhere when you have a chance. Using the toilet will completely empty your stamina points.
Or if you don't have a toilet, dig up and set down the same tree until they're all gone

Im a 99 percent certain that this is satire but I must ask. Is this true?
List of “untold secrets” in video:
1: Hold B to run/speed up dialog
2: Press Y to cover holes without shovel, and also hop over them
3: Press left/right on d-pad to switch items, move them around in inventory to change order
4: Pick up weeds around trees/stones to prevent item loss
5: You can hit a stone up to 8 times, dig two holes besides a stone to keep you in place while hitting it
6: Wasps fall from trees sometimes, keep to the right-hand side and hold a net before shaking
7: Talk to a villager after you’re stung to get the medicine recipe (don’t have medicine in your inventory)
8: Announcement everyday after 5 am your time
9: Running through flowers will break the bulbs, but not the stems
10: Move plants and trees using a shovel (eat fruit first to move full grown trees)
11: Eat fruit to break rocks (hit it normally first until no more items drop)
12: Craft/buy furniture with a mirror to change your appearance, wardrobe/drawer to see/change whole outfits
13: You can use a villager’s workshop/mirror if not in use
14: Stone axe won’t cut down trees, Iron axe will, the stump left behind can spawn bugs sometimes
15: Look up at the sky and press A to wish on shooting stars, fragments appear the next day
16: Special wandering NPCs may appear, check your island for them
17: Crafted items sell for more than their materials used
18: Glowing spots have 1,000 bells, replant in the spot to get triple the amount later on
19: Crafted items have a check mark on their DIY card, items you own have a box, and customizable items have a paint pallet
20: New Nook Miles quests appear when the corresponding action is fulfilled (i.e, Talking to a villager unlocks Island Togetherness)

I’ve been watching my girlfriend play and when she wanted to rearrange items in her inventory she would drop everything and pick them up in the order she’d want them lol. I never knew you could rearrange them by holding A. She’s gonna be so happy when I tell her lol. Thanks for the tips bro 💯

I only could do this after getting the first inventory upgrade. I tried it before and it didn't work.
Maybe everyone knows this already but I just noticed in the bugs/fish information app you can check which ones you have donated to the museum.
I was so happy with this feature. Especially since I share a switch with someone, so it's much easier now to check what he has already donated before wasting my time listening to Blathers... well... blather on...

Catching tarantulas is different this game. You have to creep(hold A) towards it, when will stands up, stop moving and let it settle down, continue the cycle until within striking distance. Saw this in a video and was able to catch one first night playing.
They've always been hard to catch

You can get it from Saharah when she visits, I believe. She sometimes sells animated wallpaper. Sadly it's random which one you get, and not all her wallpapers are animated I think.

When I shake fruit trees above weeds it doesn’t prevent the fruit from falling, the fruit just disappears into thin air when it hits the ground.

Yeah it doesn't technically prevent it from falling, he means they prevent it from landing so you can't pick it up. It'll just disappear if it doesn't have a spot to land :)
The game LITERALLY DOES tell you some of these things.
Dialogue from one of the Nooks tells you you can eat fruit to move trees and smash rocks.
If there's a meteor shower, Blather's sister tells you how to wish on one.

That’s not telling you, that’s searching for it. And I’m on day 1, the item rearrangement and stamina system (like uso it a toilet to drain stamina points) should absolutely be explained to you like everything else.
When in the Nook Miles Challenges menu, push down on the right stick (in stead of left) to jump to the completed challenge instandly.

Eh, I don't think that's the correct flower anatomy term, since the bulbs are essentially roots and stay underground. I think they mean petals or buds.

I'm in the northern hemisphere, but why can't I see any cherry blossoms?
It doesn't happen during the entire spring, it happens sporadically and for a certain amount of time.
Maybe in the next coming days because the cherry blossoms in Tokyo aren’t fully bloomed yet
The cherry blossoms bloom for a certain period of time in April, as seen in previous games. (That is if your island is based on the northern hemisphere.)
In new leaf the cherry blossoms come out on April 1st, (happens to be my birthday actually 😳) , maybe it’s the same in new horizons ?

only 45 seconds in and already have to thank you for this video. I knew most of the first few things but one thing i couldnt figure out was how to rearange the inventory. I appreciate learning things on my own, but i think they could have added a few more tooltips in the menus for what button does what
But Tommy told me about wasp nests in trees, and that if you’re already stung and get stung you pass out. He also told me Timmy has medicine.

You can also hear the present when it’s near by, if your sound is loud enough you can hear the wind sound and it’s a slightly different than just a normal breeze

I'd suggest checking particular items in the catalogue if it says "not for sale" on objects, wallpaper or flooring, then it's a pretty rare/uncommon one!

you can "cheat" and time travel if you want. its up to you if you wanna do that, but you can go through your switch settings to change the date and time.
I'm new to AC... am I playing a different game for some reason!? I have only 1 small island and I can't sleep and time is moving according to real time; how on earth did they manage to get a different season and lots of buildings and all kinds of things like this?! :/
AC is a slow day-by-day kind of game. Just collect, craft, and sell in the meantime and soon your town will evolve. Talking to Tom Nook gives you a general idea of what's next to do as far as the main story.
Cup you can “time travel” by changing the console time. That’s how they are in different seasons. Some people think that this is cheating however
Poop Sock not to tell you how to “play the game” but time traveling kinda ruins the fun and even can result in events being skipped (example would be is how in New leaf, if you time travel back or forth when Dr. Shrunk is in town for the first time, he won’t appear again until w a y later)
Not to mention Nintendo sent review copies over a week ago. IGN and other sites have been playing for a while.
They've been playing since beginning of the month because review copies. Naturally everything is gonna look well established on their island.
Always catch wasps and hermit crabs. They sell for quite a chunk.

Also, now that I see that trick with the holes and hitting the rocks, I'm pretty sure I knew that at one point but I had forgotten! I could have had my 30 iron for the shop so much faster! lol
I’m not gonna time travel, i have Doom to play as well so don’t mind waiting for the next day in this 😅
You can speed up the crafting animation by tapping A button 2 or 3 times after the sequence is going
I discovered this from being impatient
With your net out, hold A to brace yourself to catch a bug. Releasing the A button will make you swing the net. Also, holding A while moving with your net makes you slowly move so you can sneak up on a bug (cough cough tarantula, walk towards it and let go when it jumps to chase you)
Dont aim your fishing rod to land on top of the fish, aim a little ways in front of it and you'll get its attention MUCH faster (this seemed obvious to me as a veteran player but it was a revelation to some peeps on twitter)
You can dig up trees in every stage of growth except for fully grown without eating fruit first
You can move money trees as long as they're not full grown, if you dig it up when its fully grown itll turn into a regular hardwood tree
You can shake trees repeatedly to get more sticks, I think up to 8 or 9 sticks per tree?
I think that's all I've got for now

@@RT-qz5ci Sure! If you go to the airport and open your gates by pressing the "I want visitors" option. Then other person must go to their airport and chose "I wanna fly!", then "I wanna visit someone" and then choose "Via local play".

Tip: Run into any building to escape wasps
Literally what I started to do with wasps because I always failed in using my net.
It also doesn’t tell you that additional characters on the island are extremely limited in what they can do and can’t even build anything or move in villagers.

You can also run into a building and escape the wasps. Just run with B into a building while they are chasing you and escape them by going into the building and when you come out they will be gone.
I did not know about the shooting start thing, awesome!
So THAT'S why I was breaking all the dang rocks.
Literally found most of these myself by playing a lot😂❤️ but learnt new things too
Note about wasps from trees. Try to always shake trees from the front you will auto look to the side the nest falls on and either have the net in hand or use the item wheel or open inventory to pause the wasps in place. This will keep you from having to reorient yourself to catch them. Simply shake the tree from the front, wait for the shock animation to play and swing with bet or get net out and swing. Wont have to move at all for an easy catch.
pro tip: dont build the nook shop exactly behind of the middle of the service store.
try to build it next to the service store.
because later the service store will be bigger and move from the right corner to the MIDDLE!

I knew all of these except the last one or so, that's really helpful, so if the item has a paintbrush icon it means I can customize it? Also, how do you customize the tissue box? I got one but it wouldn't let me customize it for some reason.
You can also go into a building or tent or something to get rid of wasps/bees

About 5 or 6 days after you start the game, Tom Nook will announce that he's giving out a free tutorial on item customization.

Ever since Sucker moved to my island I´ve been talking to him every day, giving him things, he is even the one I talk to the most together with Phoebe and Kevin and still I found him thinking about leaving. So I think it can happen regardless of whether you ignore the villager or not.

A little tip for all of you:
When hornets haunt you or more like when the hornet nest appears instantly save your game and go back in again, the hornets are gone and you can loot the nest

@@iBeFloe Same. I was recording my screen with my elgato and sharing my laptop screen with my friend the 1st time I played and finding out all these new things was really fun to do. It just takes out some of the fun by telling the player every single thing that you can do.
One pro tip. If you have a crafting Nook miles challenge activated and you don't really want to waste any materials at that moment, go to the beach, get some clams and use them to make fish bait. That's the easiest way to deal with those challenges since the recipe is ridiculously simple and clams are everywhere.

My usual strategy for an accelerated start in Animal Crossing games is to decide how many extra days I want to progress and set the date back by that amount when I first start the game (or reset the save). Then whenever I feel ready to advance an extra day I do so, until I'm back at the present. Doing it this way the dates for in-game achievements feel natural, so after you're back in the present your game doesn't look as if you used time travel at all, though it does limit how much you can benefit from time travel.
