  • Ranching is a way of life. You’re never off-duty. Taylor Sheridan knows that all too well, and brings that authenticity to each episode of Yellowstone. Yellowstone airs Sundays at 8/7c on Paramount Network. Tractor Supply is a proud sponsor of Yellowstone.
    #Yellowstone #ParamountNetwork
    Yellowstone is a drama series that follows the Dutton family, led by patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner). The Duttons control the largest contiguous ranch in the U.S. and must contend with constant attacks by land developers, clashes with an Indian reservation and conflict with America's first national park.

      I really liked the part where John Dutton tells Summer Higgins about all the animals that must be cleared (killed) in order to grow her food. As far as animals, she only cares about the "cute ones". A nice does of reality. These people have formed strong opinions based on complete misconceptions.

    I am a rancher's daughter. Riding with the reins in your left hand is correct, so your right hand is free to use a rope, or at times, a firearm. The ONLY thing I have noticed that could never have happened: in Season 1 when John and Lee stopped the pick up they were riding in, grabbed the spreader, and ran over to help a cow while she was calving. The calf came out, jumped up, dry, and ran away.
    Outside of that, everything is pretty much authentic. It is so good to see authenticity in a ranching show.

    • @saintejeannedarc9460
      @saintejeannedarc9460 Před 2 lety +1

      Have you noticed the way some of the actors (not the authentic cowboys) ride though. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like some of them are trained both English and Western. I'm no cowgirl, but I did learn to ride both, by a horse trainer up in Canada. I preferred English myself, and maybe some of them were better acquainted w/ it too. They are of course all using western saddles, but it seems some of them are sitting Wenglish rather than fully western. There are a few English actors, extremely good at blending w/ the midwest accent too.

    My sons good friend graduated in 1982. He went to Montana to be a real cowboy. It was his life out there on horseback out with the livestock on a huge ranch . He would be 59 now and still there but he makes custom handmade cowboy boots by special order. Quite costly but fantastic quality and style.
    So yeah, you can still be a real cowboy leading the life if you truly want. Don't give up your dream.

    Like a lot of ranchers we've had to sell. I sure miss the whole works of it. Thank you for continuing to put beef on the table, bull hides on my feet, gloves to protect my hands, vests to keep the wind out and all the rest👍🙌 Oh, I enjoy Yellowstone but live on the reservation and can't get it, gotta wait for the DVD...

      As a east coast cattle farmer (I'd never call myself a cowboy) I saw that but I'll give them the benefit of a doubt because if it was filmed in real time it would take half of the episode length.

    I’ve lived my entire life in Central Texas and consider myself a cowboy (I run Longhorns). Yellowstone drew me in like a magnet because of all the attention paid to the slightest details about cowboy life. I quickly realized this series was not made by some Hollywood goat Roper wannabe. After finding out during the third season who Taylor Sheridan is, I am pretty positive he developed some of the characters from the outlaw cowboys who hung out at Cody’s nightclub in Waco

    Some viewers forget this is still a tv drama, not a documentary. Easy to sit back and nitpick. “That newborn calf wasn’t,” and that kind of silly observation. Do you think the show could wait for a newborn calf to do its thing? Do you think it was a real wild wolf watching the camp, or a wild bear in the tourist bus scene? Give your heads a shake. Authenticity is also a slave to the budget, the schedule, and the technical requirements of filming, not to mention the Health & Safety rules.

    • @kenmclay8500
      @kenmclay8500 Před 2 lety

      You might not have caught it but the bear was real. It wondered in and they just decided to use it and started filming. The wolf was on a wire.

    I grew up spending the summers at my godfathers ranch till I graduated high school. He died the next year. I’ll never forget that time. He had about 2k acres in east Texas. We never did much crazy cutting horseback while herding cattle. Ours was a much more calm type of herding lol. It was still all on horseback though. No ATVs or any of that crap. I miss those days so much.

    Holy 💩 that's who Taylor is??? I knew his name as the show's creator, but never connected that character to being him. He's also a co-creator of another show... The Mayor of Kingstown and it's simply an amazing show as well. Very different than Yellowstone, with more nudity and certainly a lot more violence, but amazing in it's own right.
