- Mark Sievers Trial Prosecution Rebuttal Closing Argument
Mark Sievers , 51, stands trial in Lee County, Florida allegedly orchestrating the murder of his wife Dr. Teresa Sievers, 46. He got friend Curtis Wayne Wright Jr., 51, to do it, and this killer got another man, Jimmy Ray Rodgers, 29, to help, prosecutors said. Wright and Rodgers ambushed the victim while she was supposed to be home alone one day in 2015 after she returned early from a family vacation, authorities said.
As far as prosecutors is concerned, Mark Sievers is the last man they have to take down to get justice for Dr. Sievers. Wright flipped, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, and agreed to testify against his alleged co-conspirators. He testified against Rodgers, who was charged with first-degree murder, and convicted of second-degree murder last month. This defendant was also convicted of conspiracy to commit murder and trespassing.

This prosecutor is absolutely brilliant. Clear, passionate and thorough. Brava!
She IS brilliant.
Way too personally involved for my liking. She's too angry and she's lost perspective.
Sarah Drenth *She won... If I’m murdered I’d want HER specifically to try the case and get a conviction.* 🤷🏻♀️
HUNTER AND ROSS ARE BOTH BRILLIANT. LOVE TO HEAR THEM LAY OUT THE FACTS. THEY ARE RIGHT ON THE MONEY!!!!
Defense pooping in their pants.😂😂
The prosecutor is amazing! I like her so much. She is so intelligent. Focused. She knows her job well.
I agree.
Whew, she is not only innately smart but also highly trained, experienced, and extremely well PREPARED. It is wonderful (and inspiring!) to behold the performance of an expert at the top of her game.
I agree.
Love this PROSECUTION team...judge great as well. The DEVIL has been convicted
Absolutely.
This prosecutor is fab! Love it when she used defensesown evidence to intensify her arguments. Sievers & his twin trying to look relaxed but not succeeding.

I agree.
Magnificent Prosecution!
Hard work and determination to show the facts!
I agree.
The judge looks exhausted.
Looks like he has a migraine headache. He sure doesn't look well.
He does indeed. I was just thinking the same. A case like this must get to you when you hear them as often as a judge must. Stressful to say the least.
Honorable Bruce Kyle...gentleman of Integrity! Thank you Judge
Yeah, he's running a circus.
His name is Bruce Kyle and was arrested for a DWI a couple months after this. He sentenced the prosecutor to three years probation
Cynthia Ross and partner deserve a medal of Honor in this case.
I agree they were excellent

JUDGE BRUCE KYLE IS SUPER. PERSONALITY+. KIND. SMART. CUTE AS A BUTTON. I WOUKD LOVE TO BE A SPECTATOR IN HIS COURTROOM ANYDAY. HE ALSO HAS GREAT COMPASSION FOR BOTH FAMILIES IN THIS CASE. HE RATES A 10 WITH ME.

@@sanjayreddy2326 That all you have to say about this case!!! I am glad your not on the jury!! And I hope you don’t vote !
The judge seems broken by this case. He did such a great job.
I think he's just tired. I hope so, anyway. They all look ready to collapse.
V
I think he has a bad back, back pain.
You could see how much he was emotionally affected by the harrowing testimony of C. W. Wright. It must be exhausting to have this kind of technically challenging job with such a serious and awful case, staring at the victim family the entire time.
I agree.
This prosecution did a miraculous, fabulous job on this case.
The defense is clearly out-classed and out-gunned.
Miraculous?
I agree.
I was so sure mr arrogant aka sievers would testify but didn't. And here is where mr. Obvious aka the prosecution puts it all out on the table ensuring the guilty verdict. I hope mr arrogant gets what he deserves.
The Prosecutor is doing a great job
I agree.
At 1:15 ... _"Speculativeness"_ ??? The word is 'speculation.' There's no such word as 'speculativeness.'
And he's a friggin' attorney? LOL 😂
The Honourable Bruce Kyle is at the end of his tether & looks absolutely exhausted. Well done Sir. Also the Prosecution team have been brilliant, no grand standing, a well oiled efficient team. Bravo all!!! My heart goes out to Teresa’s Mum,sister & daughters especially as well as her many friends & patients. What a senseless, horrific loss. Come home to your sanctuary & your furry children, ahhh there’s no place like home..to face such terror, fight unarmed against two prepared murderous men, no chance of survival, death was the foregone conclusion. WHY? Greed & indescribable selfishness. We come into the world with nothing & go out the same way, everybody, prince or pauper. Parents have the responsibility to love their children more than they hate each other.
I know, thats our worst nightmare
Why I bought a huge 120 pound very protective doberman after these trials cases etc
Its horrible! To be attacked in own home, by your partner!!?!??
Love Pet I bought an English Staffy for protection....She looks like a little pit bull, appears all business but it’s a facade. If anyone came to my home I think she’d wag her tail & lick them to death. Good thing she barks & it’s a fact that homes with dogs are less likely to be targeted...easier to move on coz they don’t know the temperament of the dog!!! Even though she’s a softie I feel so much safer with her. Who knows (hope never have to find out) but if someone attacked me I believe she’d protect me. Teresa’s dogs knew Curtis,he’d been invited into their home before so they didn’t see him as a threat. Easy to put them out so they couldn’t help their ‘Mum’ SMH.

Judge Kyle is not wanting grounds for an appeal. Love this judge!❤❤
Absolutely
I had said something bad about this prosecutor at the beginning of the trial. But here we are at the end And I take what I said back. She did a pretty good job . So I made a mistake. I admit it. Lol
Both of the assistant prosecutors are _excellent,_ just really top notch.
I agree.
Cynthia Ross and Hunter were mind blowing in their arguments. The both should be awarded. Both are super talented.
I agree.
It’s very suspicious to have burner phone communication with a 5 time felon.
With the man who murdered your wife for "no apparent reason" at that
The state attorney's office did such a wonderful job on this case.
I agree.
Excellent rebuttal by prosecution!

That poor wife. Poor poor lady. So sad. All angels in heaven have her !! Sickening.
Kim Scovern just because someone is murdered it doesn’t mean that person is in heaven. It takes more to get into heaven. I feel bad for what happened to her and victims of horrible crimes. Chris Watts should have got death but he sits in prison. Jimmy Rodgers should’ve got 1st degree and the silly jury gave him 2nd. What a shame
Awesome! She just took the wind right out of their bald doublemint sails! Not a good look to twin with your guilty-as-sin client either!
"Bald doublemint sails", though. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Has the judge got a bad headache!? He looks in pain.
Found guilty!!!!
The defense lawyer on right is nodding off on opiates i bet.

JUDGE BRUCE KYLE IS A GREAT JUDGE. I WISH I COULD MEET HIM. SUCH A GREAT PERSONALITY. HAS A LOT OF WISDOM AND COMPASSION FOR BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE.
She’s a good speaker
The judge doesn’t give one flying f about the polygraph. He’s ignoring them. Lmao
Nor should he care since he knows a polygraph test won’t stand up in any kind of judicial proceeding. It was simply used as a scare tactic to keep Mr Wright honest, keeping in mind that Mr Wright obviously isn’t particularly bright. They could have told him the plea deal was off if he grew bumps on his cranium and he’d have believed it. Also lmao!
Alma judge is wondering why the police missed that polygraph! They practically polygraph everyone!
Brilliant Prosecuting Team! Love em!
Sat bolt upright like a peacock here isn’t here, I see he is also taking a break from his penning his debut novel.
My friends don't do squat yet those 2 kill supposedly to help..weird
Defense looks quite glum. When she starts rattling off dates & times, it looks like the attorney on Sievers's left is practically sitting on his hands to keep from frantically looking every thing up. sorry, charlie.
This Prosecutor is great and she means business.
Absolutely
this judge grunches his face in both hands on entering his bench...wants an end to it all....how much can a person load into ones system before you reach the redline
Prosecutor kinda looks like Diane Keaton
I wonder if Mark like Orange, that's what he going to be wearing....
This lady prosecutor mrs Ross is brilliant and very convincing. The defence has a herecluen task of defending Mark Sievers.
Justifiably Sievers looks worried.
This is the only time Seivers hasn't sat scribbling....FINALLY he listens... That's coz he knows it's the last opportunity to do so.
Prosecutors do a phenomenal job here 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😎
Is that John travolta in the back?
no, that's CANDYman. ! lol eating all thru the trial.
😂😂😂 my thoughts exactly!
Excellent explanation by this Brilliant prosecutor. Hats off madam Cynthia Ross. You and Mr.Hunter were brilliant. The defence was weak and helpless.
The State did a great job wish the state the best in getting these type of murders of the streets
Amazing how they managed to get closure on what the murderers thought was the perfect murder it must be remembered that the insurance company will not payout one cent.
The kids will get the money. Mark can’t benefit from the murder, but his children would be eligible. In fact, that was the big custody issue....Mark’s mother hadn’t thought she would take the girls bc her health wasn’t that great at the time, but Mark forced her to try to get custody of them so he could control the money-anonymously-through her. Teresa’s family had other ideas, though! Her mother moved to Florida from Connecticut and had taken the girls to live with her in a rented condo so they could keep going to their school with their friends, etc., so she was given custody. The Family Court also made her a trustee of the children’s trust with other people close to Teresa.
@@voraciousreader3341 OMG THIS IS AWESOME TO KNOW!!!!
I agree
Mam you are an excellent prosecutor, well done. Defense get another job.
Her partner was just as good, if not better, in my opinion. He never seemed to get rattled the way she did, especially when the defense’s objections were sustained and she had to rephrase her question, and was very relaxed without ever being lazy or half assed. She visibly struggled with rephrasing her questions, but that’s the only tiny weakness I noticed. Each of them had excellent vocabularies and knew how to be very formal in their address without ever being condescending to anyone, and each knew the case inside and out. They were just a really dynamic team, and the man’s questioning of Wright was a masterpiece!
“Baby boomer” v “Entitled generation” “Baby Boomer” winning!
The Judge looks like he's having a nervous breakdown.
I don’t agree with you, at all. But do you think presiding over a capital murder trial with the possibility of the death penalty as part of the sentence is a walk in the park?? And everything rides on the decisions the judge makes during the trial, meaning he has no idea ahead of time what objections will be made by the defense and prosecution based on any of the evidence provided and all of the testimony made by witnesses. If the judge makes one error, the verdict could be thrown out by the appeals court and a new trial ordered, so he has to have laser focus throughout the trial. Do you not think that might stress a person out, just a bit??? Anyway, I only saw the judge rub his face or look exhausted when the jury wasn’t there, so he acted very professionally. And, btw, both of the appeals Sievers has made so far-including the Florida State Court of Appeals-have been rejected!
I'm sure this was pointed out, but I can't get over how much the defense attorney looks like the defendant.
And the killer all they look like it!
The arguments and explanation of both the state attorney were just outstanding 👌. Very very convincing. The defense was just dumb. The sarcastic smile and expression of Cynthia towards the insurance expert was mind blowing.
What’s so totally impressive about Cynthia Ross is that she was making notes _as she was listening to the defense attorney’s mischaracterization of things Mr. Hunter said,_ and she pulled it together in time to give her summation, right after he was finished. So this presentation was not written ahead of time, bc she didn’t know what the dingbat was going to say.....takes your breath away, just a bit, to think how well she did this!
Welll done
It’s the trial all over again wrf
Not the trial....the much abbreviated penalty phase.
Why was John Travolta on the defense and what did he do?
That's not John Travolta! That's my husband circa 2002. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 The female prosecutor is my aunt, and both the defendant and his twin are clones of one of my uncles. Methinks the defense attorney protests too much To object in closing seems desperate given that the closing arguments are not evidence
Joanna Nicol his defense baldy dude is a raging asshole you can feel his hatred and aniMus
Joanna Nicol: Nothing a defence or prosecution lawyer says in a courtroom is evidence. Jurors are instructed on this before deliberations.
Ray ray. Exactly my point
Joanna Nicol: Just meant to clarify your initial comment where you said “closing arguments are evidence...” I presumed you meant to say closing arguments are NOT evidence, but I wasn’t sure.

At first glance it would be hard to pick Sievers out in a line up if his lawyer was in the line up too.🤣 They look fairly similar.
And aalsoif Curtis wayne wright wasin the line-up as well
I was just about to say the same. I'm watching from UK and was finding it hard to sort them out. Lol.
And the one on right looks like an asshole too
The attorneys and "supporters" for Mark Sievers ALL look like cheap criminals. It's almost unbelievable. If it were a TV show, it would seem overdone.
Mark Sievers will join Bill Cosby in the shower! Jello! Jello!
Good morning sunshine lol
He seems so worried and when defense recliner back is a sign to recognize they are thrilled c Defense. Is more worried because he knows that testimony of rebuttal provide clear. Conspiracy. He knows his clients going jailed. Mark stear the jury so maybe one sees he is begin some sympathy on just he need one
The only thing I dislike about these trials being published with the cell phones pinging or any other tools I guess you can say is it possibly prepares future criminals what to do and not to do or possibly hide cell phone or any potential evidence or tools. Yes I know not all criminals are the smartest of people but it kind of gives future or current criminals the upper hand.
Well, what’s actually happened is that law enforcement, led by the FBI, has been able to keep up with the majority of criminals, and the FBI has the funding to develop technology which it shares with state and local cops. I think the worst criminals of all-psychopaths who are sexual sadists and serial killers-are also the hardest to catch bc their victims are chosen at random, making them nearly impossible to catch. But, as in this case, the other more common murderous psychopaths and sociopaths tend to kill people they’re involved with in some way, making it much easier to catch them. Then, they always seem to always think they’re smarter than law enforcement, which means they get caught much more often. And Jimmy Rodgers was the Weakest Link in this crew....he told his girlfriend _everything,_ and she thankfully told the police. If it had been only Sievers and Wright, they might not have been caught.
Still creeps me out every time they mention area code 858. That's my area code.
I think the judge today doesnt feel well?
The prosecution has artfully avoided the question of the initial informant from Illinois and how and why that led them into Missouri in the first place. This will be the downfall of the prosecution on appeal.
it was brought up.
Wrong again, Frank! Sievers has lost two appeals so far, the latest from the Florida State Court of Appeals, and his lawyer was spanked, hard, for misusing judgements from prior cases to try to make them fit Sievers’ case. Every point of the appeal was in the judge’s and prosecution’s favor.
Lol at the bald twins sooo on the edge 😅by this point they both knew it was over .
Enjoy your cell, Markie 😙
Wow, brilliant indeed, trying to make sense of the senseless murder and making the true killer look like he's a lamb telling the truth? That's where I am not convinced at all. Clearly, she is winning the case which is constructed to fit a logical narrative. The husband could still be innocent and that's the problem. And IF he is innocent he would still have lost the case.
The other guy, Mr Wright, that testified is not and gets away with nothing. Even the messages show that this guy is dependant on Mr Wright and has given him power over him. I wonder what it would have been like if the woman would have been at the defense...
I too am in the "this trial stinks" club. Maybe I'm unreasonably protective of innocence because I would rather the guilty walk free but I'm not satisfied with this one. The fact that this entire case was built on the story of a murderer. While they did offer facts that corroborated some of his story those facts definitely couldn't stand alone. Then the fact that the state decided not to poly him until after the trial... Obviously strategic and dirty in my mind.
Maybe it's my distrust of the state. I don't know but I do think he was likley guilty.
@@CynHicks do you think Curtis Wayne Wright did it though?? And if so, do you think he did that independently??
And now the defence guy is going to spite the prosecution and object every chance he gets. And this lady is not very happy!
I wouldn’t be very happy, either. The defense attorney was showing his desperation, trying to goad the assistant prosecutor into making an “improper argument,” which could result in a mistrial, or succeed at the appeals level, forcing the prosecution to do it all over again. That’s a tremendous amount of pressure, right at the end when everybody’s exhausted. Sievers’ lookalike finally seemed to care about what he was doing! I think the jury was sympathetic to the assistant prosecutor, though, bc the defense attorney looked like a jerk.
@33:52 she says Mark Sievers and Jimmy Rodgers drove to Florida from Missouri...look at his lawyer recognize the mistake

@33:45 they're SO excited that she misspoke.
This was a good time for Mark's lawyer to have someone to pull the fire alarm in the building.
-the Troll
Not the most thought out crime.
I think it essentially _was_ well planned. The problem was Jimmy Rodgers. Wright told him not to bring his usual cell phone due to cell phone towers all the way down (he brought it and linked it to the travel gadget via Bluetooth; he insisted on going to Walmart, where they appeared on video surveillance; he didn’t get rid of the jumpsuits, gloves and burner phone in random places on the way home from Florida; and he spilled everything to his girlfriend and made her help him dispose of that very damning evidence. She then led inspectors right to the jumpsuits, the lint from which had been found on Teresa’s clothes. I mean, thank God she told! But Jimmy blew everything, and Wright couldn’t keep him in line. I think it’s just possible that Wright and Sievers alone may not have been caught.
Really?! With all of his objections during her closing is ridiculous. She can say whatever she wants to that’s why it’s not part of the evidence the defense was trying to throw her off her game it didn’t work. My god look at all the crap that was said at the Casey Anthony trial..... LoL 😂 🤣🤣🤣
