How to convert turn signal bulbs to LED and fix hyperflash!

- We show you how to convert turn signal bulbs to LED. Hyperflash is eliminated by wiring in a resistor! No special tools required. A common issue is LED turn signals blinking to fast. We show you how to wire in a resistor to get rid of hyperblinking by using simple butt splices or soldering. We install LumaWerx LED bulbs and LumaWerx resistors from HID Kit Pros to convert the turn signal bulbs on our 2017 Toyota 4Runner to brighter, crisper, longer lasting LEDs.
Use LASFIT and you don’t have to do any soldering or use external resistors. Replaced my signals both front and rear with their LEDs. Totally plug and play.

This "Hyperflash" as you call it, it's not a feature, rather it's how flasher relays work. When the standard bulbs are fitted and you turn on your indicator, the bulbs are wired through the relay which causes a thin strip of metal (which acts as a switch) to heat up. When it does, it pops out of shape, cutting the circuit, turning off the bulb. When it cools down, it pops back into shape and reconnects the circuit, turning on the bulb. This process happens around 2 times a second. When you replace the bulbs woth LED or one burns out, the resistance inside the flasher unit is different which either increases or decreases the speed the metal heats up. In this case it speeds up. LEDs use a lot less power than traditional bulbs which is why they affect the indicator flasher.
Hey I'm binge watching your stuff because I have a 2017 Off road also. There's a cool place in Valley View Ohio called Terminal Supply Company that sells crimp on stuff that has built in adhesive when you hit it with a heat gun. Really seals up electrical stuff. Just a thought since you appreciate the extra little efforts.
I have had my 2003 Tundra for 16 years and I have never had to replace a turn signal bulb, but I have had to replace the Head light bulbs about 3 times. I almost feel like I have to stand on my head under the hood to get my hand in the tight space to pull the connecter off. And those stupid little spring clips that hold the bulb on the housing drive me crazy. So much so that I removed them and now I just let the rubber boot hold them in. I still love my Tundra, it has been a great truck.
I am curious about the resister install for rear to fix hyperflash, couldn't you just have spliced into the wires before the housing? Would remove a step... and be less trouble if you have to remove the housing in the future?

Great how to. Agree with the way you installed the rear. Disagree with the front because of that style of splice connection (have had issues with them). Awesome detailed video. Keep it up. :)
Thanks for watching. We wanted to show both methods of connecting in the video since most installers won't want to solder. We did however solder in the fronts too. We agree with you on the butt splicers.
Thank you for soldering. Next time, for a little more security on the wire, use a pick to spread the the worse apart, then put the resistor wire through the wire and clamp them down.

for regular bulbs hyperslash will show when turn signal bulb is not working good (is burn out) so im wondering if this instalation you make will show you inside of car that for exaple one led bulb of turn signal is not workin? will be hyperflashing? thank you
Excellent job! Is there any problem if you use 25W resistor instead of 50W? What resistor will you suggest for low and high beam leds?

Just performed this mod on my month old 19 TRD Pro. I do not suggest you attempt this mod unless you possess soldering skills and equipment. I opted out of using taps and instead decided to splice the wires. Rear was easy. Front was a different story. I tried using my vise wire strippers in the front and snapped one of the drivers side wires right in half! I ended up salvaging a scrap of wire from my old air suspension kit and soldered it in, covered the splices in silicon conformal coating and then used heat shrink tubing. Oops! Don't be me folks! 🙁

Since built in resistors will get hot and shortened bulb life, do the resistors get hot also?
Very hot! If you look closely you'll notice the resistors we installed have cooling fins built on to them.

Is there a wrong way to installing resistors? Not sure if I did mine wrong on my 16 corolla but they flashed weird off sync. So I wanna try those bulb with built in resistors so no splicing needed

When you lay down yiur taillight housing facedown you should really lay a towel or something soft underneath it. Otherwise you are risking scratching the plastic lenses everytime you move it. Those taillight housings are too expensive to risk scratching against a wooden surface like they do in this video.

I just want to let you guys know that in basically copying 70% of the stuff you do. My 4Runner is so badass now.
I'm glad I have a 78 Bronco. Working on the bulbs is a bit... easier. lol
Not to mention, you can easily swap the flasher for an electronic one, no resistor needed.
resistors are not gledood they heat resistant up the wires fire hazzard , get a electronic led flasher n fuse with a wiring hardnest kit with turn signal n wire it directly to turn signals, ground off cuase with alarm n other will be short expectency,,

That means if we install the same Wattage led bulb as incandescent stock bulb! So it would not hyper flash??
