    I love how you cut everything out with a cut-off blade. We can't all afford plasma cutters we may use 1 day a year.

    oh man I just went through this a few weeks ago, mounted some 14 in 5165's in the rear of the ZJ.. one thing I learned about the limit straps is... even when you have them set at full droop, if the opposite wheel is stuffed, it will use the limit strap as a pivot point, and can actually still allow the shock to go lower than the strap length. I ended up hooking my straps as close to the control arm mount / shock mount as possible. at full droop I had about 1.5in of shock left, but when the opposite side was stuffed, it basically bottomed the shock out. same thing with the bump stops, under the stuff / droop situation you can have the bumps completely smashed in and still have shock movement upwards that can bottom the shocks out in full collapsed position

      Ya I read some conflicting info on that. It does seem the wider you mount the straps or closer to the shock mounts the better. Mine is just wide with a narrow frame. I am sure it will take some fine tuning.

      @@MuddyBeards4X4 basically the location of the lca mount becomes the fulcrum point. So the further out the shock, the more change there is. I ended up setting up my shocks at full stuff point, rather than full "bump" because almost never in nature will both wheels be bumped at the same time, unless your jumping it. Almost always there will be a droop/stuff condition where the bump/shock will be extended/stuffed due to the pivot points. I'll message you some pics.

      Usually articulation on one corner has more extreme angle both at full stuff and droop, in my experience. For this reason I set up limit straps and bumps with this in mind. I usually like to have the wheel and tire on to be able to test for tire clearance on the body as well. Either way there might be some fine tuning to perfect it. Especially in the front when you have to address steering angle as well 😬.

      @@firstwordcar yeah that's what I did on mine. Put the tires on drop the car down on the lift onto a 6x6 to force the suspension all the way up on either side to see exactly where the touching was going to happen. Then I set my bumps up at that level. There was about a 4-in difference between where the tire existed at full stuff versus where it would have been at normal bump. So if I would have set the stops up just by setting the car down, they would have forced themselves through the fenders and into the unibody. It's sort of a game of averages. I did the same thing with my shocks, said the thing up at full droop all one side was fully stuffed then picked my shock mounting points based off of that extension.

    I just did bumps and limit straps on my 4 link build... I found that the axle completely full bump and full droop did not act the same as simulating 1 side full bump and the other full droop... 4 links tend to travel in 2 arcs... id be curious to see you test full bump 1 side and full droop the other and see if this setup stays/works the same way you set it up.

      Yep they definitely act differently. But if your bump stop and straps are as close to the shock mount as possible it should still be pretty close. I'm sure this will take some adjustment and tuning once I get it on its feet.

      @@MuddyBeards4X4 yeah I found out on my 1st install.. everything looked good with axle full bump and droop.. but then real life on trail and crawling at full flex droop/bump they were off... so re did them this last weekend and yes you gotta set everything up as close to the angle, range etc of the coilovers for it to all work together.. haha that's how we all learn tho.

      Still waiting to do my suburbans upgrades. Still running leaf springs. Shackle flip rear, 4” front minus a leaf and 35s. Gotta get my latest project done and daily drivable before I take my suburban outta commission lol. 1973 international 1110 4wd automatic. Kinda need the size to pick up lumber, metal and do on. My wj just doesn’t cut it lol

      @@MuddyBeards4X4 My 2002 wj overland is a great daily and boat launcher but can’t really haul much with that sunroof and leather interior lol🤦‍♂️. Looking forward to more on yours for ideas on mine when I get that far.

    Maybe I am wrong but I somehow doubt that bottom of those limit straps will hold. Hopefully i am wrong. I guess you'll find out after the first launch lol

      I mean they are welded to a thick axle tube and a quarter inch bump stop pad. But I guess I'll find out.

    Why didn’t you just move the limit strap upper mount up another 1/2 inch to combat the length being a littler longer then you wanted

      The stap is 1/16th too short. And I wanted the upper tab in that location so it was against the thick metal of the frame stiffiner.
