The Norwegian Heavy Water Sabotage was a series of action undertaken by Norwegian saboteurs in 1934 at Vemork, Norway, during World War Two to prevent the German nuclear energy project from acquiring heavy water, which could have been used by the Nazis to produce nuclear weapons. In February 1943, following a failed British attempt to destroy the Facility, a team of SOE-trained Norwegian commandos succeeded in destroying the production facility. It was the most successful act of Sabotage in all of WW2

An excellent MV for an excellent song. The men involved in Operation Gunnerside were Joachim Rønneberg (the leader), Jens-Anton Poulsson, Ame Kjelstrup, Knut Haugland, Claus Helberg, Knut Haukelid, Fredrik Kayser, Kasper Idland, Hans Storhaug, Birger Strømsheim and Leif Tronstad. A year later, on 20 February 1944, Knut Haukelid would lead the resistance members, Knut Klonteig, Knut Lier-Hansen, Rolf Sørlie, Einar Skinnarland, Gunnar Syverstad, Kjell Nielsen and a man known as "Larsen" to sink the SF Hydro which carried heavy water that would have been sent to Germany. These operations helped put the nails in the coffin for the failing German atomic weapons program.

worst part is that the guys were comepletely normal guys, and the route they took was so hard the S.A.S couldnt even handle it nor the american army, these guys were armed with normal hunting rifles and skis and lived mostly on the moss the reindeers ate, true Norwegian Vikings

Again top notch production dude. In 2019, I was with a friend in Norway in the Hardangervidda National Park, where we first saw the Museum in Vemork, and afterwards took a week long hike in the park, and walked part of the route, they walked, and saw the memory plate in the mountain side. As far as I remember, it said something like: "Here walked the most successful saboteurs of the war, that saved the World." and then their names. It was a super good trip, and damn Norway is just one of the most breath taking countries in the World, so damn beautiful. I can only recommend it to anyone to see, if they get the chance. I was there in the summer, it's probably also amazingly beautiful in the winter.

the only criticism I have is for the movie which is used... the Deuterium Oxide that was removed from the plant were in metal drums not in wooden crates. otherwise it's pretty good. that criticism aside, MV is great!

its weird that there is a book about this mission a song and a movie like it was important but you dont need that much
The most interesting thing is that it was actually less impactful than it is perceived to be. The Germans were never close to actually creating a nuclear bomb or anything similar. Hell, they hadn’t even made a proper nuclear reactor. The problem was in their calculations, as it was done wrong as a result of most of the nuclear physicists having left Germany or been executed as they were Jewish. Still a great story that should be remembered, but the truth is that regardless of the mission’s success, the course of the war was not gonna change from a German loss. Cheers!

It's unfortunate that the SOE and commandos involved are not mentioned.
I got to Visit the museum and they had found one box of heavy water samples avdelinger sold them and i got one!
