a good source of growing meat and having eggs. they are small enough for me, an older lady, to handle myself, and they don't need a lot of room. another plus is the rooster does not crow so loud as the chicken rooster.
All very true!
I love watching your videos! They have been very helpful in starting with quails
Glad you like them!
Great tips, thanks for sharing.

Like patio type birds
They could be
When it comes to the noises they make, if they can be heard at all they could be mistaken for some uppity or annoying squirrels if the person hearing them is not knowledgeable about Quails. And even then they're hardly as uniquely jarring as a rooster crow or even a chicken bawk so it never sounds out of place even amongst all the "Nature" sounds we've heard for years where we are.
One of the things I also love about Quail is just how incapable of hurting you they are. They will never attempt to attack you, and even the most depserate struggle to get out of your grip gets barely more than the top layer of skin scratched, if you are unlucky. They are astonishingly timid and weak little birds, not even counting when comparing to chicken which can be vicious and quite painful if handled incorrectly.
Love it and great details !
Do you need to have a slanted floor to roll out the eggs? Will the step on them and break them with a level floor or is it more for convenience?
tractor supply in maryland sells 30 quail chicks $170 for coturnix and $150 for bobwhite
Oh wow
🐦interesting. I am seriously considering getting some quail for the eggs. I hope they still lay after 2 years. Even if it is not as often that is fine as I plan to have several females. Heidi
Love it!
Son muy buenas aves
Yes they are great!
Do you have any incubators that you would recommend that’s cheaper but works well, I don’t need an incubator since I have chickens and ducks that will sit on eggs but I need something just for quail.
This is our favorite incubator: amzn.to/47LS6Bv
Got my subscribe. Got 4 quail today . Don’t know the gender. But hopefully tomorrow I can find out . Wanting to get an incubator if I have a male and females to hatch more
Yes! We incubate our own and it’s so easy and fun!
How do you introduce new quail to existing quail? Night time like chickens?
Good question, we haven’t actually done too much introduction of new quail yet but something I would love to learn and share more about
@@splitarrowfarm I am currently going through the process. The lady I got my quail from told me to put 1 at a time into the cage at night so they get used to each other's smell. My females off-ed my first male so... we had to get a new guy.
@@ImyourangelVDCI started off with 2 quail, and a few weeks later, now, they want to kill each other.

love it
