Loving this channel mate. You’re going to be huge if this continues.
Thanks Matt! Glad to have you on board!

Another great video man I’m truly loving your content!
Awesome, I’m glad!
great content narrowing down to documenting!
Luckily (or unluckily) it’s all I know!
Good information, as always! Showing photos and footages from your projects is also motivating!
Glad it’s useful!
i love your content
You always release great content, I currently work with corporate, promo videos but I'm looking forward to become a documentary filmmaker.
I found your channel last week and loved the content, thank you for putting your time into making videos for youtube!
You’re very welcome, glad you’re finding the videos useful!
Such great tips mate! We are only just starting out, but we are HUSTLING in the documentary game. Alongside the three other day jobs! Really useful ideas... thanks so much.
You’re very welcome, keep hustling!
Your pace of information is really Good. 😊 Love it
Thank you!
Good stuff.
Thanks!
Nice vid!!! What happened at 3:19? Dog or cat jumped on the table? lol
I didn't know you worked on Rotten, that's epic!
Just two episodes, but it was super cool!
You offer such good information. I wish I lived in an area where their was more film-making done and not in the middle of nowhere so I could get a job with a film crew.
Going to make a video about this soon!
informative 12mins.
Great tips Amigo. If you need a Fixer or AC in Costa Rica 🌋☀️🌴🌊📸☕ let me know. 😉. Thank you for work. Awesome channel.
Great to know, thanks so much!
Good tips! I'm in Canada so I'm part of the same fb group you mentioned. What's your advice reaching out to people when you have little to no experience? Is it appropriate to ask if you could help out as a volunteer?
I’d say totally appropriate. It might be a numbers game, and you might get ignored, but being proactive is the best approach - always. Keep it up!
I primarily DP on low budget stuff with prosumer level cameras, so it makes me scared to apply for AC jobs. I love the idea of diversifying as I'm coming up as a DP, but I lack confidence with "pro" gear since I'm unfamiliar the equipment (more complicated rigs, heavy duty tripods, follow focus systems and wireless feeds). I don't ever work with any of that. What would you suggest I do?
I'm not Luc, but I was able to gain some experience with broadcast systems by volunteering as part of a location crew for the local community channel. We shot football, curling, hockey and a Santa Claus parade, and I got to use their big sony cameras, setup and use their live switching system, and run SDI cable! We had three camera shoots with graphics overlay and an audio feed for the commentator. Learned a lot for free, and they were very happy to have volunteers for this sort of work.
@@dustmote3020 thanks for the insight! It's a good approach. I suppose I can find ways to volunteer
Good idea 👆. You could also try getting a part time job at a rental house to get your hands on pro gear.
@@LucForsyth That's a great idea! Thanks Luc!
Great information. One thing not mentioned about pa: As a PA, you may generate an income with your tears (reference revar cine pa tears filter.)
hahaha, this is very true!
I started doing locations because they wanted to shoot in a neighborhood in my city that was predominantly Spanish-speaking. I speak Spanish. Its werid what door will open with your special hidden skills.
Yep, use any advantage you have!
Would bts photography be a way in?
Yes, for sure...though most docs don't have a budget for a dedicated stills person, narrative and commercials definitely do. But more indirectly, photography is incredible training for filmmaking - I was a photographer for 7 years before jumping over
@@LucForsyth Wow, awesome! Thank you so much for sharing that!
Lol
