    That really is one serious climb out of Mendip Vale. Very nice of them to allow you put your camera there.
    Great little line, and one I would happily visit again! Great video, and thanks for sharing!

      +TheSoutherner Thanks mate! It sure is indeed! You can't really hear the DMU Engine in this video, as this is the trailer end, but it was working and leaving a cloud of Clag behind! :D Will have to arrange a visit at the same time. I recommend the 'Santa Specials' as it always a sight with the locos on long rakes ;)

      SDJR7F88 I'll see what I can do as to getting back down there for the Christmas season. Would love to see the Ivatt tackle the bank! :)

      +Trains Big and Small They sure are. A bit bouncy :p

  • @FarlandHowe
    @FarlandHowe Před 8 lety +1

    You were very quiet. The driver, guess it was, seemed very chatty. They need some weed control. Was that the end of the line back in the day? Great video. Rob

    • @SDJR7F88
      @SDJR7F88  Před 8 lety

      +Rob McCrain Ah that's because I was not in the cab ;) I set my camera up and headed back to my seat with Jack. LOL! Yeah, just a little ;) Nope, it would of ran right through. There still is Mainline connection beyond Cranmore. As for the other way, that is sadly gone, but there could be plans to extend it at some point. ;)

  • @johnson121able
    @johnson121able Před 8 lety +2

    Would love to see this line extended.

    • @SDJR7F88
      @SDJR7F88  Před 8 lety +1

      +johnson121able Me too. Would be great if they could get it to Shepton. Or like wise the other way. Sure they have plans for it all :)

    • @poshingtonno1157
      @poshingtonno1157 Před 5 lety

      @@SDJR7F88ice video, unfortunately the line cannot extend towards Frome because the line is still used for the quarry trains but it would be great if the line extended towards Shepton mallet.

  • @doddc

    Great ride, I've been there several times, but never actually rode the line.
    Totally off topic, but are you going to the Weston show tomorrow ? If so i'll keep an eye out for you.

    great video. the first halt you came to looks a little sorry for itself could do with a tidy up

    • @SDJR7F88
      @SDJR7F88  Před 8 lety

      +kinetic .rail Thanks mate! Yes, it does a bit. Though there is not much to see there, so is not often used ;) Sure they will get around to it at some point ;)

    • @kineticrail
      @kineticrail Před 8 lety +1

      Do all the trains stop there. Be a good filming vantage point if they go straight through

    • @SDJR7F88
      @SDJR7F88  Před 8 lety

      I think they do stop, but some don't. I don't think the goods trains do at the galas, which is good :)

  • @m18tankdestroyer43
    @m18tankdestroyer43 Před 8 lety +1

    Any plans to extend this railway Westward?

    • @SDJR7F88
      @SDJR7F88  Před 8 lety +1

      Sadly I don't think there are any plans in the near future for that at the moment. Though it would be amazing if they can get it back to Shepton Mallet, would also be interesting if they can get it back towards the Yeoman Quarry as well, as all the track is still in place and connected to the main line. :)

    i would be surprised if this line lasts another 10 years ( the p/w is almost beyond safe useage )

    • @SDJR7F88
      @SDJR7F88  Před 7 lety

      The line is always check, and follows the strict rules for track safety.

  • @Calvertfilm
    @Calvertfilm Před 8 lety

    Would be good to build a fake cab, with a TV screen behind the windows, and then have this playing. For the kids of course :-)
    Laurie.

    • @SDJR7F88
      @SDJR7F88  Před 8 lety

      +Calvertfilm Oh, it sure would be! Would love something like that! Could wire a on-board camera up to it! ;)

    • @Calvertfilm
      @Calvertfilm Před 8 lety

      +SDJR7F88 Actually in our train room we could build a simple fake cab, TV screen (they are cheap enough now) and as you say an on-board camera going around our own layouts. We could actually drive the locos from inside! I mean our kids could lol.

    • @Calvertfilm
      @Calvertfilm Před 8 lety +1

      +Calvertfilm I don't suppose you have kids yet.
      But good idea.
