In other words, we should be able to hold two contradictory truths in our minds at the same time. American foreign policy has been misguided and there are justifiable criticisms. Americans themselves will tell you this. Yet they are not a cynical people, and most of the time they actually have good intentions. When they get it right, such as in World War 2, and Ukraine, they shine, and it really suits them. We can acknowledge the past, while still seeing the present as it is.

BHL can name putin by miserable looser only because of caurege of Ukranian people and soldiers. For ukrainians the price is too high ...its difficult to see such optimistic future where all authority regimes will be stopped. This just a dream. Despite of russia failor Im sure China and Iran will continue to grow military. World doesn't have any instrument to stop wars. But BHL effectively follows old "philosophical brothers in arms" ideas that ignore complexities of likelihood of practically making a predicament worse off in the long run instead of better. (eg Afghanistan. And eg important to protect dissidents from massacre by Gaddafi, but will we create a huge disaster thereafter - as Obama honestly admitted later) Real life dynamics go far, far deeper than philosophy = conceptual models.

Bernard-Henri Levy is really SUPERB. He speaks slowly and clearly, and he really knows what he’s talking about. It would be better if you kept the camera on Bernard-Henri Levy when he is talking. It is distracting when you switch the camera to you listening instead of the speaker. You could learn a lot from John Freeman's Face to Face series, where he stays out of the picture entirely and allows us to concentrate solely on the subject being interviewed.
