- Enjoy seeing one of SeaWorld San Diego's newest dolphins take the first steps in marine mammal training! He works on hand targets here, bridge/whistle conditioning, and sits next to his surrogate moms Sandy and Bullet.
Cardiff is a long-beaked common dolphin rescued in January 2024 who was estimated to be less than 9 months old. He moved to Dolphin Amphitheater in May 2024 and began meeting other dolphins and learning how to work with trainers.

It’s so good that Sandy and Bullet (of course other female dolphins there as well) showing Cardiff the ropes (including the baby steps the trainers are doing) and taking care of him

What happened to his mom
@paulapearson7774 There's no way to know for sure where his mom is. Since he was found stranded on a beach without his mom, he could've gotten separated from her or she could've died while Cardiff still needed her.
How many dolphin do they have now?
@christoperfleming6832 At Dolphin Amphitheater, there are 15 dolphins including Cardiff and 2 pilot whales.
And calf makes 16.

How long will it take to train this little guy?
@@christoperfleming6832 im not sure, right now they are in the super beginning process because literally he is just learning to come to a trainer to receive food. definitely a few years, but i think in about a year they will definitely have the basics down
