Ricky Watters was a borderline HOF running back and showed it at 1:26:12.
He doesnt get anywhere near enough credit for S.Frans great season in 1994.
When he left, as good as their offense was, it wasnt the same without Watters in 1995.

I thought I gave the man enough credit but it appears I did not. They had a makeshift running game in ninety one and miss the playoffs entirely. Although Sy wins the MVP in 92, the niners had the number one rushing attack in the league around week 14. There were a number of games during that season where he was a work horse carrying the ball twenty plus times a game. He was never going to do that every week. On a team like san fran, but it really added another dimension to his offense like you said. I had the same thought recently about his carries decreasing. I thought they got away from him. In the title game in 1992, after he fumbled in the first half. Always Found him to be a notch below guys like Emmitt and Barry and Thurman because of those fumbles. He fumbled just enough to keep you from giving him the ball as much as his talent would otherwise dictate. Niners definitely repeat in 95 with a healthy Watters imo.

By this point in 94 the 49ers had gotten healthy & found their identify. Maybe the closest team I've seen to being unbeatable from about week 5 all the way to the Superbowl, only losing once in Minnesota in week 17 while resting their starters after securing the #1 seed.

One of the top five greatest seasons in the history of the National Football League. No, I do not have statistics to back that up. I'm a 49er fan who was in his senior year in high school in 1994 and am completely biased.

This was a great team. They would not be denied in '94. I think the '84 team was probably the best. 15-1 and I think they only lost to Pittsburgh by 3 points on a controversial call. That '89 team was pretty dang good too
