Is this the Primal Zerg? What has Protoss gotten themselves into?!
Blizzard may refuse to give us StarCraft 3, but the modding community is bringing us the next best thing. Today it's going to be a custom StarCraft 2 cast featuring the 'Dragons' Race mod! This plays exactly how I imagine a primal Zerg race would play; these units can evolve on the battlefield. This one is an epic PvD matchup: Cheville (P) Vs Asur (D).
D is for 'Dragons' people. Get your head out of the gutter.
If you're new to this channel, I cast a wide range of StarCraft 2 content including casual games and modded games including viewer submitted content! If more casual and modded StarCraft are something you guys are interested in, please consider subscribing!
Since the majority of casts are of pro level games, I think it would be really interesting focus on StarCraft 2 ladder games from the more general population of StarCraft 2 players. Of course I will occasional host a pro-level match once in awhile, but for now I'm focused on casting StarCraft 2 from players in the community!

Whoever designed these units and buildings is an artistic genius
Could totally pass as a fourth race
Most of them are reused assets from Campaigns and Editor, so Author only gets my commend for masterfully blending them together.
Also, Elleix, please watch my other comments in 3 previos videos (2 for BW & Sc2 Terran ones and the latest Scion Custom Races one).

It's on my list for sure, the replays for that one are hard to get! I have a couple player submitted ones that I'm going to get to this week, expect to see them
The dragons gain a special resource that they can use to "Ascend" their units.
Ah ok thanks for that clarification! Is it a resource that accumulates over time? Something like energy?

You gain it by killing and losing units, also Denizens of the Deep produce it.
I think it's called "Rage" or "Rage Essence", if I remember correctly?

Stalker will never take the place of the original dragoon.
I’m saying man, Protoss is my main but I can’t stand the stalker lol. I was friends with a GM toss back in the day who swore to never use stalkers. So you know it’s legit

dragoon is a crab who can't climb stairs
dragon air units charging up there plasma breath is cool
Fun fact: zealots have less health than stalkers but deal more damage

Could you have unit health bars active during the game? It's really confusing to have those hidden, can't see when a unit is doing damage, or how much it does.
Also having your commentary on how the units and buildings work would be super helpful.
I think it's a lot of fun seeing a basic race facing the custom race, it's much easier to understand what's happening and allows us to feel the strengths and weaknesses of the race much better

You screwed up the ending. It was Asur who left without a gg while cheville was left as the victor. 😅
Even if Author of Dragons didn't intend on this faction get taken as Primal Zerg faction, I have my version of how they came to be, which I already written in other video about "Dragon" faction. Might post it here once found, or try to rewrite from memory sometime later.
Would appretiate, if someone found it and posted a name of the video it's in, so I could quickly repost it here! It's very likely to be in one of previos Elleix videos on Dragons.
Oh cool I would love to see someone's version of an origin story for the dragons! I'll dig around my past videos featuring this mod and see if I can find it

From what I remember, the summary is this: Dragons are a ancient pack of Primal Zerg, that evolved so far, that they barely resemble their former selfs both in essence and in society structure. They originate from Zerus in the times of when Xel'naga discovered Amon and his Overmind; the pack decided to "hitch hike" on fleeing (good) Xel'naga vessels, that prior to fleeing landed on the surface of Zerus, which short time later crashed on [yet to be specified by me] planet, going deep underground to avoid being discovered by Amon and Zerg Swarm. They stayed hidden right up untill the end of Nova Covert Opps campaign.
Although there IS a possibility, that I only thought it up only in my head and not writing it anywhere, so if you don't find it, tell me and I rewrite from memory in my previos comment here!

You can't cast a match without showing the damaged unit's live bar

The idea of a new resource adds a lot to the game! I need to make a video to cover the tech tree
nice to look but this is not the Zerg style, few units produced, no raids on the Mineral line, they look like zerg made of mana not by hive..

Bruh I’m saying. I’ll still cover stormgate but it honestly doesn’t hit the same as StarCraft. Plus the SC Evo complete which puts SC1 and SC2 together looks way better than stormgate 💀
