Lowest frame score in Snooker history? Probably | Ronnie O'Sullivan vs Judd Trump | 2008 Welsh Open

- 1. Total score is arguably the lowest ever, 2. Incident: O'Sullivan is warned.
Ronnie O'Sullivan vs Judd Trump, 2008 Welsh Open, Last 32.
Notes:
- CueTracker.net records a frame score of 29-17 between Doug Mountjoy and Cliff Wilson at the 1993 UK Championship and a frame score of 36-35 in the match between Darren Morgan and Bob Chaperon at the 1990 World Championship. However, no other website mentions them, as it does with the historical scores mentioned in the captions.
Although those records are not necessarily incorrect, no one else mentions the Lawler-Hamilton frame either, except CueTracker, but the record is right- visual verification of the matches is required.
- If you know of a case of a lower total score, let me know in the comments.
The statistics shown in the video correspond to the date of the match.

i remember playing a frame of snooker with a friend once, the score was about 80-60 and not one red had been potted yet.
You're doing a disservice to the game by calling that snooker.🤣👍
Hahahahaha I have played a few where I scored 50 odd most were fouls but there was the odd red potted at least
@@catlikepizzagaming8280 hahahaha that is the level i am trying to get to.
@@catlikepizzagaming8280 You'd need to pot more than "the odd red" to make a break of 50 or more. You do know how the scoring works, right?
C B yes l know how the scoring works, but if my opponent fouled 10 times that is at least 40 points, curious to know whether you know how to score
I also had an attempt at a 147 last week in my local snooker club.
I was only 14 reds, 15 blacks, and all the colours short.
The Artist Formerly Known As Shitlord.
Don't you mean 15 reds and 1 black etc.
I was on for a 147 once in my life, got the 1st red but then missed the black.
I was on a long break once... it was a long time ago
Jamie Shannon I got to 40 once and someone said “the 147is on” .As they say in Ireland “I filled the briefs” and missed my next shot. I learned later that you shouldn’t start to get nervous until you reach 120 lol
@@yankorusev My best break ever was only 41 - and that was when I was practicing against myself. The best scored against me I think was either 65 or 69. But I play darts now - a much easier proposition.
Jamie Shannon Jamie.. Unlucky mate!!
You will find this hard to believe but I got a break of 28 once....... I know, amazing eh? 🤔😳😳😳

Gosh look at Judd, So young back then and now he's world champion 11 years later.

So Trump was an anime character before snooker?

F@#$ me that was funny :)

Well his cue power is over 9000.
Lowest frame score in snooker history ?...you have obviously never seen me play.
Where the heck do you find these videos??? .... Amazing job!
The great thing about snooker tho, is the fact every single frame is different... so you av open frames, scrappy frames, low and high scoring frames... its amazing what can happen on a 12ft by 6ft snooker table...
Thank you Cesar for the upload never seen this before it's so nice for someone to upload who isn't just recycling the same old junk just to gain views
Well, to be honest I have also recycled a little, but thank you very much anyway ;)
@@CesarMuroya ah... But your videos seem like they are trying to show some events and you edit them well and you don't add any silly music to them
It's arguably a spurious example, but when O'Sullivan famously conceded the frame and match against Hendry in the 2006 UK, the frame score was 24-0.
holy hell was that really 13 years ago? Crazy how fast time flies!!
Another very similar example: Quinten Hann once began a frame with a break of 24, and then missed. He promptly conceded, with his opponent "winning" the frame by a 0-24 scoreline.
@@delboy9234 what was that all about ? haven't seen that one
@@englishman1960 I don't think the Hann incident was televised. I'd assume that , on missing a pot whilst on a 24 break, he was so annoyed at himself, he conceded the frame in the heat of the moment. It's not a logical thing to do, but he was known for being sometimes erratic.
@@delboy9234 "sometimes"??

That's not the lowest score ever, I've had plenty of games where the score is 8-7 and all the reds are gone!!
Hasn't everyone?
no penalties though!
i was at this match in Newport and remember thinking what a bizarre frame it was between two normally free-scoring players
lets be honest, when playing your friends who are just as hopeless at snooker as you are, you are always looking to put them in a snooker, just so you can sit back and watch that scoreboard move along faster than you yourself could manage, through fouls obvs.
Lol!!!!
Not close??? He got a lot closer than I have ever gotten to a 147!

Bingham vs. Dott
2019 world championships
Bingham potted one red before missing another red three times thus conceding the frame to Dott.
Including the fouls a total of 13 points must make this the lowest scoring frame ever.
Mathematically you can always win a frame. Even when you need 20 snookers.
Well thought.
I think Clive Everton knows that, I think perhaps he isn't expecting some pedantic twit to come along 12 yrs later and try to teach him the finer points of a game he's been commenting on for 40 odd yrs, he's probably expecting said person to realize he's talking about the possible points 'on' in the frame.
I know what they meant when they said it but it wasn't correct. If you have a pink and a black anything is possible
Isn't it obvious that it's meant "to win the frame on your own, without requiring an opponents mistake"
He did say "on the table".
I said at the time “Judd’s going to really regret that hair!”

Yeah good idea. Anyone else here from bray wanna go down fisherman’s club?
@@NewNew-qn7kh here
SavageArfad You in bray there pal?
i don't understand what is this warning thing about?
That's a ridiculous rule that if you concede the frame even though there are enough points on the table to win you get a warning from the official. This is a competition, if a player wants to risk his own chances of winning it then that's up to him. If Ronnie was somehow forced to play on then he could just deliberately miss pots and give the game to his opponent anyway.
it's not that.
He conceded BEFORE his opponent"s turn. You can only concede after your opponent finish his turn and before yours.
But yeah, he lost that frame when he missed that pot cause there was no way his opponent would have missed.
@@Tyranastrasza That's true, but nevertheless his opponent was the one who gained by him handing him the frame prematurely and I'm sure he's not complaining. So the rule is silly. Like I said, it's a competition and if one opponent decided to mess his or her chances up then it's their loss.
When you explain the situation by having the words shoot across the bottom, some people may think they were 'live' at the time. That's why some of us may have missed what the incident was about.
Players should not concede a frame when there are still enough balls on the table to win. In theory, Ronnie still had a chance to win if Trump missed the easy pot, but he just conceded to save time. It is not a fault to concede early, but it is considered unsportsmanlike. In this case, O'Sullivan was just pragmatic and the ref knew it. He still had to warn Ronnie but made sure he didn't worry about it.
@@CesarMuroya It is in fact in the rules of snooker as unsporting conduct, so to that extent it is a "fault".
What is the last guitar music name
It's called "Plenty Step" from the YT library.
Has anyone ever gotten a score of 147 but over multiple breaks? When Ronnie missed at 9:15 there were still technically 99 points on the table. Doubtful but if it's possible in snooker you'd expect someone to have done it.

Thats 1 rule that needs changed ASAP , snooker can be bogged-down enough as it is with certain players............ if a player wants to concede a frame as he wasn't feeling he cud win and just wants to get on with the next 1 then so be it.........it keeps the match flowing........... it shud be the players decision no one elses.
Don John
The ref was simpling following orders he was given, he doesn’t actually care about the rule himself, just due to sponsors audience and TV etc.
I was not so much surprised by the low score, but the fact that a frame between these two lasted 44 minutes.
I think the explanation given for the warning makes the most sense, and Ronnie’s reaction gives you all the subtext...
Which is to say, in most circumstances that rule probably wouldn’t get brought up. But as they quite rightly pointed out, the game is both televised and heavily commercialised.
In order for the players to have prizes, there must be sponsors, sponsors need a large viewing audience... Thus, the players must play the game sportingly to provide everyone invested in the sport value for their money.
it just goes 2show ronnie was a nob back in the day aswell a complete bell end
1:20 - 36 points off of 11 reds? How many reds weren't followed by a colour? Or was Trump sinking yellows?
Is it me or does Trump look like Oddbod from Carry on Screaming? (check it out on Google images)
The referees high break is 8 after only 45 years of play.
I want to know what's after warning if he do it again? Anybody ????
His punishment would be playing Peter Ebdon in the next round.🤣
Uploader who named this vid clearly hasn't seen me and my friend play...
I thought it started off saying Andy Griffith..
God, that’s embarrassing when you’re cueing like a pro and then that happens.
you shouldn't concede if not mathematical even when the red is over the pocket as you are taking away the chance for your opponent to pots some balls, build a break when perhaps they need some time at the table. in this case it's not likely the opponent was lacking table time but you can't decide on behalf of the other player. (not to mention tv time is income...)
The other player does not have to accept the concession, so if they want some practise, it is their right to keep playing. Why would they want to do this if they have just won the frame though? The rules state that a player can only concede on their own turn, but this is often ignored in favour of common sense.
What the hell is Trump even wearing?

Absurd rules. If I want to concede, I concede. Do they want players to DELIBERATELY play shit shots to waste time?!
It was explained that its unfair on the paying audience and tv watchers too. Maybe you didn't listen?
@@CB-xr1eg That's your opinion and opinions are largely irrelevant. Life is unfair, only children expect it to be fair. If a player wants to lose, it's his right, audience deserves the match, whichever kind of match it might be. Truthfully it has nothing to do with audience but all about the sponsors who'd complain of not getting their money's worth.
@@infiltr80r But you're short changing the fans if you give in while there's a chance you could win. Its like a football team not bothering to defend if they play a better team. Disgraceful attitude. Always try your best should be the motto. Not sulk and give in if things are not going your way.
@@CB-xr1eg Not really. Then don't watch, it's not an obligation to watch, it's just sports anyway. He is the player, he gets the rewards. We're just useless bystanders. Tell me again how you FORCE someone to play if they don't want to? How does that work exactly?
@@infiltr80r Not an obligation to watch? How about his fans who paid good money to watch and support him, then they see him toss away a game because he feels its too much effort to try and get back into it. Nobody can force him to play, but if he concedes when its still mathematically possible to win he gets reprimanded for it, as seen in this video. I think we're done here, no point going over and over it.
1.37 did trump just come in from a Rain Shower??
why was the frame conceded?
I'm assuming out of acceptance that his opponent will finish the frame and win. It's (in some player's minds) a respect move to show they expect their opponent will take care of the rack anyhow, or, a disrespect to basically show that the player who missed defeated themselves, not legitimately get beaten by the opponent. Hard to read, but given Ronnie's stature and how it was Judd's first time against Ronnie in tourney (I believe), I'd say it was probably the latter (disrespectful).
Oh well, still find The Rocket to be the best of Snooker.
Trump was in some Japanese metal band at this stage of his life?
Verhaas is such a solid referee.
isn't ronnie better and sharper now or was this just one odd case out
Screw the public. They came to watch Ronnie O'Sullivan play pool so you're going to dictate how he plays? Everybody has flaws, temper tantrums, passion, funny and remarkable times. If a man is disgusted with his own actions, who are we to take it upon ourselves to tell him different. Without going into England's rule over mankind for1000 years I would say shove it. Ronnie is probably the most remarkable pool play thus far. If he wants to give a frame, it's his choice, not yours.
I won a pub game 10-7 once, but the surface was like the coat of an Afghan hound!
seriously made me laugh out loud
Am I understanding this correctly? So he got warned because it brings the ratings down because its all about money and the advertisers running ads in-between the matches lose out on their time slots and possible opportunity to make people buy more junk they don't need. Sjoe. I always read Ronnie had issues with the board... now I see how and why.
Strange, disjointed collection of videos. What was the Hamilton one all about...jumping a cue ball happens frequently.
In the Hamilton frame at the beginning he is showing the lowest combined score for 2players. After the foul by Hamilton I think the score was 34-2. He then conceded. I was confused myself at first!
The first clips well funny, refs busy chatting away on whatsapp, one player wants to know if the bars still open so asks the ref what time it is and the other one just wanted to be noticed and cared about but wasnt
Why does 2008 look so ancient
I can think of other players doing the same and it would raise 'questions'...
Boy, look at young, baby-faced Mr. Haircut 100! In fact, everyone looks like 25 years younger, especially Jan Verhaas. Look at him nowadays - Dennis Taylor even compared him to Walter White (Breaking Bad).
That warning was harsh. I get that the fans want to see a match, but it should be up to Ronnin if he wants to battle for 30 minutes when he might still lose the frame anyway, or just move on to the next frame. It's tactical surely?? It happens in other sports....F1 for example. A mid pack driver can fight to keep Hamilton behind, but doing so he'll lap slower, ruin his tyres, and end up worse off later in the race.
Presumably this is about 5:10 when Ronnie was 30 behind with 35 on the table but he left the last red hanging over the pocket so he wouldn't have had to 'battle for 30 mins' - just until Trump potted that red when Snookers would be needed and when - at his turn - Ronnie could legitimately resign.
@@lsbrother Trump would have likely clear the table on his next turn.
@@Tyranastrasza yes indeed - glad you agree with me!
It's now at the point where Ronnie gets so many 147's that a video where he doesn't get one gets a mention!
I was on a 147 once..I fucked up on the first red...I've done it loads times
Already been done mate
That wasn't the lowest scoring frame then because it still remains to Hamilton and other player !
Surely the concede rule is to prevent illegal betting?🤔
I guess technically the lowest possible total score for a completed frame would be 15 + 27 = 42. Some of the club players I've seen have got quite close to achieving that but usually spoil it by committing lots of fouls!
That is the way I see it too. By the same, reasoning someone could win a frame by the score 22 to 20.
OMG - Trump's HAIR!!!
...is'nt it "you CAN hear a pin drop" Terry? NOT "can't "..
Wouldn't the lowest score possible with no snookers and every ball potted be 22-20?
8-7 after all the reds then split the colors 14-13 with the black being the winning pot.
Tony Drago has been fined because he conceded a frame which still enough points that he still can win
Why ronnie lost so often against Selby in his career but always wins against Ding Junhui and Neil Robertson?
I played a frame once in a league match and potted the first red then a pink 7 - 0 up and shook the player’s hand and conceded the frame the look on his face was priceless, now my reasoning was that as I was playing a very good player and the first ball I missed he would clean up anyway so save time and let the other guys get on with their frames, anyway my opponent ( a good friend from another club) said come on now and play the game properly so I carried on and potted another red 8-0 up woo, hoo, I played safe left him up in the top cushion he potted a brilliant red and promptly cleared the table, so I was correct in conceding early as it would have saved about 10 minutes the time it took him to clear the table and I got a good laugh at the same time, end of season frame nothing mattered anyway the league was won by my opponents team and we ended up mid table but if we had needed the frame then like all snooker players once on the table then it’s dog eat dog and never give him an inch
Still playing better than me
I potted 12 reds in a row before I realized I was playing darts
Aren't the attacking players actually more likely to have low frame scores than more passive players? Passive players are more likely to play it safe, causing more snookers and extra points for the frame. Attacking players are also more likely to pot red balls even without easy color ball to follow significantly lowering the frame scores.
Well, I see it differently. Attacking players risk more often and create more break opportunities (for and against). That is why they win or lose in less visits than defensive players. And less visits implies higher score.
Ronnie swerves between really ugly and pretty handsome in every video I watch
On my best day i can achieve lower scores than that.
