  • Understanding the different kinds of interactions of nuclear particles with matter is needed in developing nuclear particle detectors.
In this video, I discuss some of the main interactions shown by the following particles :
    1) Gamma Photon
    2) Electron
    3) Alpha Particle
Photons particles show the following phenomenon depending upon the energy of the photon: Photoelectric effect, Compton effect, and Pair production.
Alpha particles create huge ionizations along it path. The loss of energy of alpha particle is shown by the Bragg's curve.
Electrons lose most of its energy via the Bremsstrahlung effect.
Understanding the interaction of nuclear radiation with matter can help us in developing different nuclear detectors.
