When I was in high school I told everyone I wanted to study physics. The negative backlash I got was enough to disuade me so, I didn’t. I regret it deeply.

Maths PhD, Masters in Linguistics... damn! - I could say "I would like to have a conversation with this person", but that isn't strictly true. I would like to spend time with this person and pretty much just do listening... one way knowledge transfer would do me just fine! Hope all the hard work on th PhD brings much success and many constributions to the world! 👍

Petra, take time and excel (secret tip students: I found that it usually takes a while for a series to iterate into the billions, why wouldn't your high school grades be any different).
I'm not a mathematician but I have huge admiration for any woman who won't be daunted by the male dominated field and strive ahead. There is something special about math. In times of stress doing some problems with the quadratic equation calms me better than any drug It's wonderful!
