Speaking on our royal talk show Palace Confidential, Eden said Harry and Meghan would ‘hate’ being ‘put on the spot’ after the lost in their attempts to get Samantha Markle’s case dismissed. ‘Certainly the questions will be awkward, I think that will be the purpose of Samantha Markle’s questions for them… and they will hate it,’ he tells the programme. ‘They love giving their video links for charity or whatever from their home in Montecito, but the last thing they want to do is to be put on the spot to answer some very difficult questions.’

They will both lie or deflect during the deposition. That's their MO. It's up to the legal team to get them to admit those lies and their manipulations behind the scenes with threats, standover tactics, and bullying anyone who criticised or challenged them.
The real reason that Harry & Megan want IPP status is to avoid having to deal with this Lawsuit or any Lawsuits brought against them in the future. It has nothing to do with security.

Meghan has stated that Samantha didn't use the surname Markle until she was married to Prince Harry - an obvious lie from Meghan once again. Samantha's graduation certificate in 2006 shows her surname as Markle - Meghan was there.
She married and kept her name of Grant until 2017.

A number of those channels dealing in personality traits/disorders who are happy to label Meghan as a narcissist have also pointed out that it appears that both her father and her sister also belong to that happy little club [in which case Meghan didn't stand a chance from birth if you think about it]. I suspect Samantha is about as accurate and reliable as her sister, and both seem to relish parading their family squabbles in the full glare of the world's media.

As a former Paralegal here in the States allow me to explain what a deposition is and how it works. The Lawyer bringing the lawsuit in this case, for Samantha, will have a list of questions ready to ask Meghan and Harry in separate depositions either by video or in person, The Video will later be used in Court before the Judge or use the answers to help cross-examine them while they are in the witness box. So glad the Judge denied the motion to stay and negate the request to turn down the deposition request. Good for Samantha, now Sam go get her and if she lies under oath, she will go to jail for perjury. Penalties and Punishments for Perjury in Florida. In Florida, “the offense of perjury in an official proceeding is a third-degree felony and is punishable by up to five years in prison.” We all know Meghan will perjure herself and claim she didn't know Samantha. Let's hope her lawyer has witnesses and affidavits to prove Meghan is lying and she knew Samantha when she last saw her.

Except perjury cases are rarelyy perused. See the Depp v Heard case. AH lied continuously. It's really up to the DA to decide to peruse these cases or not.
Given this is a civil case, prosecution for perjury is unlikely. However public exposure for the liar, and a win for the complainant could have significant consequences.

That virginity anecdote was likely included to add titillating content to the book, but the episode is very revealing of Harry's character. Firstly, Harry didn't ask permission from the woman involved to tell their story -- it was partly his, but also partly her story -- ignoring her right to privacy. Then the episode itself seemed reckless, with no protection used. Then, after the act, Harry ghosted the woman, treating her like a disposable convenience. Really disrespectful and tawdry behaviour overall by Harry.

In the US, a deposition can be used to impeach a person if they.change their testimony at trial from what they say in a deposition. A person is sworn in when a deposition is taken and recorded by a court reporter. Each party's attorneys are present so it is a legal proceeding.

A “deposition” in Amercan law can be likened to an examination for discovery under British common law. The scope of the questions asked will be prescribed by the questions that survive any future motions/applications to strike them out. The judge made obiter comments that some questions would probably not be allowed to stand. Personally, I cannot see the Sussexes being forced to apologize to the Royal Family, or say the Royal Family is not racist, because those topics are irrelevant to the claim against them. However, if the depositions proceed, I have no doubt Meghan will be confronted with her treatment of her father and half-siblings and how she has dismissed their involvement in her life.
Samantha did not even raise her own 3 children. Her brother was in prison for holding a gun to his girlfriend's head. The dad declared bankruptcy and moved to Mexico. They are a mess !!!!!

In the US courts, a deposition is taken outside of a live court proceeding and these are done prior to a trial. These are almost always video recorded as well as there is always a live court report present taking notes in real time. Each side is given the opportunity to question the other side's witnesses and plaintiff/defendant and the depositions' contents are used to further build the cases for both plaintiff and defendant. Those being deposed are sworn in as they are before they testify in a court room. The deposition transcripts are sometimes made available for public viewing at the judge's discretion. Depositions are very important aspects of 'discovery' efforts that are always done prior to a trial.

Depositions are considered to be part of testimony given on the witness stand. All the rules governing witness testimony apply, including untruths being considered perjury.
A deposition is usually done in a small room with only the lawyers for the two sides present plus the person being deposed. A court reporter is always present aa well and a sound recording is routinely made of the proceeding.

I agree with Richard. Everyone has gone gaga over Harry spending 10 weeks total in Afghanistan, mostly sheltered on a military base. Andrew was on a ship in the thick of the Faulklands war, flying as an Exocet missile decoy. That’s brave. Also KCIII was a naval captain of a vessel serving as a minesweeper. Again dangerous stuff and he had a crew of men serving under him and their lives were in his hands.

If all people seem to hear at the moment is family, it might be due to selective reporting. Especially regarding the food bank visit it could have been highlighted that many Royal residences have been opened to the public as warming places providing tea, charging facilities, counsel, and much more. I agree Prince Charles needs to issue a statement to the effect that he loves his son Harry and is sorry that he is still so unhappy more than three years after he and his wife chose to leave the Monarchy to pursue private happiness and were wished well by the family in their pursuit of a new life. However given that the couple still feels wronged by the family and have continued to express ill will towards the institution as well as the U.K. public it seems best not to include them in the coronation, which is a national public event and not a private family celebration. This deeply saddens him and he hopes there will be a private reconciliation in the future. Such a statement ends speculation, would be dignified and shuts the Sussex's bid for attention and drama down.

In Finding Freedom H&M sent details to Omid who published them in the book. He should be called as well. Defamation was that Meg said her sister was a high school drop out and had 3 children by 3 men and they were removed from her custody. The truth is that Samantha had to leave high school because she was diagnosed with MS and is in a wheelchair today. However, she went on to get a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in mental health and vocational rehabilitation counseling and worked as a mental health counsellor. Sam is saying that Meg's account ruined her reputation. I'm still on the fence about all of the Markles but I really want Sam to win this lawsuit.
