      @@ChickpeaHobbies looking forward to it. My building is on hold for the summer. I do commercial HVAC and at 59, I have nothing left in the tank at the end of each day. I love car model building.However, I want to do a diorama of a Russian Tank getting blown to bits by a couple of Ukraine soldiers with Javelin shoulder launched missiles.

    In regards to your Tamiya black liner, also known as applying the wash, what you're doing is creating a shadow to compensate for the scale effect. Without it, chrome wheel will look very toy like. So these are techniques that help to make a model more realistic, along with drybrushing. Very nice build by the way. 👍 keep up the good work. Thank you for video.

    Very nice work. The Tamiya lacquer paints are the best modeling paints I have used. Other than Testor’s lacquer, I am working towards not using any other spray can paint. They dry quick, go on smooth, and have a nice shine. Thanks for sharing.

    • @ChickpeaHobbies
      @ChickpeaHobbies  Před 2 lety +1

      You’ve hit the nail on the head, Michael. How long do you wait before clearing them? Currently I wait weeks for the TS paint to gas out.
      I’ve never tried the Testors line but I am keen to as they have got a couple of interesting colours over there too.

    • @bryanfranks1378
      @bryanfranks1378 Před 2 lety +1

      Rust-Oleum or krylon works very well they have a lot of beautiful colors it sprays great lays down good and you will be able to paint many more things per can than you can with Tamiya or Testers and One can costs a less than one can of the other paints and you can also use files sanding sponges from a nail supply store they also have some very cool decals which I use on a lot of my builds they also have foils which work very well and they also have all kinds of tools that are useful for working on models the name of the nail supply store where I live is called Sally's the prices are a lot cheaper than at a hobby store and they have more useful things to choose from the prices are much better than the hobby store and if you ever start painting with an air brush you can use nail polish too their are almost an infinite number of colors to choose from they are easy to spray once you get the hang of the air brush it's a whole new world for you to explore .

      @@bryanfranks1378are you referring to the standard Rustoleum you’d buy at a hardware store? We get spray cans here in Australia for about $20 which would be far better value if the spray paint works. I thought we had to use the little Tanya spray cans.

  • @animalyze7120
    @animalyze7120 Před 2 lety +4

    Nice work! Grab some of the sanding sponges or the fiber cloth sanding kit from Micromark and wet sand that body. Start at 3200 go all the way up to 12000, doesn't take crazy long and afterwards the paint will look milky white-ish, clean it good dry it thoroughly and hit with a good clear (NOT floor polish actual clear) and the shine will return with a mirror glass look. Be wary of going thru to the primer, let the sponges or fiber do the work, very light action. This method works best with enamels and lacquers but will work with acrylics just gotta make sure you have enough coats to not sand thru.

    • @ChickpeaHobbies
      @ChickpeaHobbies  Před 2 lety +2

      Thank you my friend! Great advice, it’s something I’ve dabbled in but not really dived into. I’ve sanded to remove e.g a mark in the paint but never gone the whole route of removing orange peel from a whole model. It’s something I’ll have a go at in an upcoming video. I do use the Tamiya compounds but if there’s decent orange peel you just end up with.. shiny orange peel 😂 so yes the sanding has its place too. I’ll see if I can get that into an upcoming video. Thanks for watching and your detailed comment ☺️

      @@ChickpeaHobbies go and get a 1967 Chevelle body I hate to say this but their are a lot of them in salvage yards across the country and some can be bought pretty cheap their even quite a few in pull your own parts yards look and I know that you could find one somewhere , then you pick up a Chevy Big Block 454 out of a 80s or 90s Chevy pickup trucks , and then get a 4 Speed transmission out of a , and I know that this will sound strange but most Chevy Vegas that were 4 Speed the transmission was a Muncie Rock Crusher , so their you have over half done , then you buy tube front suspension upper and lower control arms and a Vega steering box , front suspension is very reasonably priced Summit has it all , they will also have the motor mount kit , they also have all the interior components , aluminum kits , And you can get a back half kit for the Frame , a roll cage , 4 Link rear suspension kits , shortened Ford 9 inches rear end , I would get a pair of race seats , you could probably find a lot of the things that you would need at Racing Junk. Com , they often have very good used stuff , If you can find a body for a reasonable price then you are there , and If you do get one bought , it is all down hill from there and depending on the amount of body work you would have to do and the amount of time you have to devote to it I would bet you could be burning gas inside of 1 year , when you get your Hot Rod ready to paint if you want I would love to come down and help you paint it and If you find a color you would like I know that I could mix it up for you and the whole car could be painted for less than $100.00 I would bet that you could build it completely for around
      $5000.00 depending on the original cost of the body , so I really hope that you can fulfill your dream and get started on the hunt , until then
