A "lorgnette" is essentially a pair of eyeglasses on a stick, usually with a spring loaded mechanism that would unfold them at the push of a button. They were worn on a chain around the neck and used almost exclusively by women so as not to spoil their looks, makeup and hair.

Uncle moved the family to Dearborn Hgts. Mich (from Trawna) in the 50's, ran a mould making business in Detroit. On our annual visit, was always gobsmacked when we drove by Ford World Head Quarters & the famous Uniroyal Tire. Thats when I knew I had what Scott calls the Sad Bastard disease. That motor is just purring.

Matt + Jim, I truly appreciated seeing this "hopped up" install in a stock bodied 32! These were the kind of projects I grew up with in the late1950s. My friend Frank built a 51 Ford flathead with 11 to one Edelbrock heads and dual Stromberg 97 carbs. He left the body stock but dropped the rear a tad and added skirts. It ran strong, sounded great and looked fast. Another guy I knew, nick named Hayseed dropped a 53 Old's V8 into a 39 Ford coupe that was bone stock outside. A true sleeper in those days. The engine was too much for the starter (or battery) so I gave him a push-start with my 51 Plymouth and when it fired I thought I had hit reverse 'cause that car got really small in a few seconds as it streaked away in a roar of straight pipes! He later drove that car from Baltimore to Florida and back. Thanks for the memories!

Great video, and you guys have an amazing shop. Watching these ‘old time’ mechanic’s tasks is a breath of fresh air. My dad hitch hiked to Detroit, Michigan to work as a 15 year old tow truck driver and gas station mechanic in 1942. Later in about 1944 he was drafted and became a U. S. Army motor pool mechanic.....Gary in Port Huron, Michigan

That's not that far reach of a goal. A lot of vintage car owners are more than eager to show off either what they bought or built so talk with some owners at a car show about their cars and if you get a really friendly one theres no harm in dropping a "golly I'd love to get a ride in one of these _someday_ _sigh_ lol

I broke my ankle in High School messing around with my buddies on a timed run for distance. I got shoved off the track into a rut that rolled my ankle til it broke. I ran a mile on it. 😬😖... then a decade and a half I was building swimming pools for a living, I slipped pushing a wheel barrow of wet concrete on a 2x10. Rolled and broke that ankle again and torn ligaments and ripped some tendons. I worked 3 more days on it til I went to the doctor. As in the past I thought it was just a sprain. Dr. told me he didn’t know if I had a high tolerance for pain or I am just stupid. 🤷‍♂️😏. He said since he doubted I would use crutches, he put me in a walking cast. Supposed to be on for at least six weeks. After 3 weeks that fiberglass cast was driving me nuts. After a couple EKU28 beers I mowed the lawn and then cut the cast off with tin snips and a hack saw. My now ex-wife catches me with my lower leg all bloody from my hack job. She says I was fn crazy 😜. I guess I am. 😉🤫🤭

Nice car. I like how you have some vital parts in stock. Unique for today for a repair shop. The aftermarket has made everyone an instant petrochemist with the marketing of Zinc additive. How much is too much? How much is too little? Please, purchase an oil with zinc that is blended to have the correct amount. Amsoil products have oils with zinc in the proper levels as well as oil for newer engines with greatly reduced amounts or whatever amount is allowed. They have race oils, diesel oils and oils for the typical street rod, which is what the old Ford is. Not only will you be getting proper chemistry, you will get one of the best oils available. Yes, not cheap. Nothing good is cheap. Keep the videos coming.

Back in the late 80's early 90's my buddy worked for Lincoln-Mercury and the Capri's had a low end knock problem in the 5.0's due to increased bearing clearance for better fuel economy. Ford would ship a new 5.0 with everything on the engine ready to run. He could do an engine swap in under 2hrs. A couple of those engines ended up in different friends trucks and they ran fine for yrs if you didn't hammer on them off the line! 😆
