  • Day 3 of this trip. lots of the high routes are still closed in May. I guess they open in June. nevertheless, still splendid scenery and empty roads. I was still having gopro issues at this point ( it does sort itself out eventually).

    The opening dates for the passes are well timetabled. You will have passed signs telling you that the Col d’Aubisque was closed soon after passing Eaux-Bonnes and I’m sure that there will have been similar signs early on on the road to the Col de Tourmalet as well. May is still a bit early in the season to be touring in either the Pyrenees or the Alps.

    At least you managed to salvage some footage with the 360. Nice laid back ride 👍 This is the very reason why I will never have a GoPro, I use DJI and like your Insta is bomb proof, well apart from the village idiot that operates it haha 🤣🤣🤣

      I did know about all the vents. When I watched the footage back, the first thing I noticed that all the large vents were closed. Senior moment😂😂.

      I would do your homework on that. I personally would think they would close tge passes until maybe November. All I can tell you is they don't open till June. Have a great trip.

      Depends on the snow. Check out Google maps to see what’s open but June to November should be easily do-able. June and September are the best months for the combination of decent weather and lack of traffic. There’s not so much open in April and May as all the locals grab a holiday between the winter ski season and the summer walking season. Have fun and don’t miss out on the Pont d’Espagne just north of Cauterets. Some awesome roads up to the top.

      Anything after mid October is risky.

    Are you also using an insta 360? If so what are your thoughts?

    • @outoftheshed8407
      @outoftheshed8407  Před rokem +1

      Yes I am. The 360 is bomb proof. It has never failed yet. The downside is all the extra editing. I did consider solely using the 360 with a rode mic, but the picture quality is just not as good as gopro yet. I do think they compliment each other to be fair. Are you considering a 360?

      @@22Royston insta 360 is a brill camera but not the best to use as a single shoot type thing unless your just wanting some mega 360 view, raw video then it will work brill as editing does take time.. hope this helps
