You made me and my dad laugh hysterically. I wished i could have met you once when you were alive. It would have been an honor, Mr. O'Connor, sir!

He was a teacher of speech and english in Ireland who was very liberal on race and bigotry. It thought fighting over it was a waste of time. He was an intellect who was an expert of all processes of plays and stage production completely opposite of the character he played. The show was to turn people around and think about all the bigotry that is out there. You did the world a great service.

My favorite show from the 1970s, and Archie Bunker is my all-time favorite sitcom character. Love Carroll O'Connor! Rest in peace, Sir, and thanks for the million-plus laughs, not not to mention tears. Your superb acting tugged on every emotional heartstring within me.

The guy was one of the best . An actor that had a human side that was very down to earth. The total opposite of the Archie Bunker character. I remember him saying once in an interview that "he loved to play the part of the sheriff in The Heat of the Night because it showed his audience the opposite of the Archie character." He was saying that in real life he had no bigotries at all.

Anyone ever noticed that the intro to the animated show Family Guy is a tribute to All in the Family opening? You can always tell a great show because it remains relevant and funny no matter how much time passes, All in the Family may be the best example one can find of this, it had sharp writing, great actors, topical subjects and an unflinching view of the world. You see it now and cracks you up just like it did back in the day. Boy the way Glenn Miller played, songs that made the hit parade!

What a great guy! I'm 58 years old and half my friends and family think I'm a "conservative" and the other half think I'm a "liberal". That must mean I think for myself and ignore the expected Party Line. Being true to my Libertarian Roots makes me dislike Socialism almost as much as I dislike Conservative Corporatism. Thanks "Archie"!! RIP- Carroll O'Connor...

Does anyone here realize what Carroll O'Connor was trying to do by playing the Archie Bunker character? He was trying to point out just how foolish people looked who shared the character's views.

Carroll O'Connor I think was a wonderful actor and intelligent and refined man. But I think he was a broken man because of the death of his son.he may have felt guilty thinking he didn't do enough to save him I watched an interview he did right before he passed. And it sounded like he was feeling a bit of guilt. Because when his son called and told him he was going to kill him self. He sent dectectives he was friends with to check on him. He said he was always to busy with his work. Feel so sad for him. I'm a big fan and he always could draw that emotion out. Rest in peace 🙏 Carroll O'Connor

It's a real shame that shows like this are the minority these days (The Simpsons and South Park being the exception). Television has become an intellectual wasteland. That's a shame, because our 21st Century world is far more complex (and potential dangerous) that what it was in the 70's. Shows like this were great, because they not only provided entertainment, but also a 'canvas' in which to discuss social issues. Great art never dies...

What pisses me off is that Carol O' Connor blames himself in part for his son's death. And he blamed a drug dealer. His selfish son is the one who took drugs. And you can't watch someone 24/7.
