Nice! I ordered the Advent 9spd shifter/derailleur and an 11-50t cassette, can’t wait to get em.

I cheaper out and stuck with the 8 speed haha
A good derailleur went a longggg way to helping the aggressor be a better bike

@@motodad311 Yeah I bet! I needed the 50t with the big hill climbs around me (Montana). I was getting gassed out on the 34t.

We both had same experience with acolyte RD and used on stock shifter and casette. Just found out that it works well if you change your chain to 9 speed. Literally doesn’t need to buy the acolyte casette. Lol

I absolutely hate messing around with gears. It's the one thing holding me back from buying a different shifter for my SLX groupset. Currently I have the type of shifter that attaches to the handlebars like yours does, but I want to get one that uses the Shimano I Spec-EV attachment which allows the shifter to be attached directly to the brake lever. It just moves the shifter into a better position. But I don't want to have to mess with my gears. I've been tinkering with bikes now for probably 7yrs and I've upgraded every single part on my GT Aggressor Pro and done everything myself, but I just really suck at adjusting gears lol. No matter how many times i watch the Park Tool rear derailleur adjustment video I still can't seem to get it right.
Also I feel you on the bent derailleur hanger. I've bent mine twice and it wasn't even from hitting it on stuff, it was just from shifting under load that it bent the derailleur a little bit.

I hear that!! I’ve made a living as a heavy equipment mechanic and fixed all kinds of crap haha and bicycle derailleurs are a real pain haha
However I will say, I looked at it as a checklist and once I got to the line on the list for hanger bent? It solved all my issues getting it adjusted haha

@@motodad311 yeah when i got my SLX groupset I followed a youtube video where the guy adjusted the derailleur with the chain off and the cable not attached, he then installed the chain and the cable and only had to adjust the barrel adjuster a few clicks and it was perfect. i did the same thing but couldn't get it right. I took it to the bike shop, where they told me my derailleur hanger was bent and that I actually had it adjusted almost perfect but I never would have gotten it perfectly dialed in with the bent derailleur hanger. Even with that confidence booster I still don't like adjusting derailleurs lol.

I love mine. Since getting it in early July I’ve put
    Raceface Chester bars
    Raceface Chester Stem
    Risk headset
    Raceface half Nelson grips
    Shimano mt 201 hydraulic brakes
Micro shift Advent X 10sp drivetrain
    Shimano m5100 32t crankset
    Shimano bottom bracket
    Rock shox Recon 100mm Fork
    Maxxis Aggressor rear tire
    Maxxis DHR II Front
New tubes to handle the larger tires
    Forte Flat Pedals
    And I think that’s everything so far…
I love the bike. Still get a little shy at the big riding area when people with fancier bikes roll up. But I’d stack my bike against any sub $1000 trek or giant and probably come out a better bike for the money. Even with the GT logo

That’s awesome! That’s how I feel! And I enjoy modifying and tinkering as much as riding haha so the cheap bike was a great option for me.
I am eye balling my next build haha, I want to hit 1000 miles on the aggressor first tho

Great Video guy. I too own an Aggressor pro. Excellent bike, especially with upgrades. if your still having issues with your gears and shifting with your rear derailleur. There's another adjustment point you missed in your video. Its located on the shifter itself. Its the black tension screw holding the cable. Turning that screw will help align your rear derailleur for optimal shifting.

Hi my friend.....as you are using this derailleur Acolyte from Microshift so i believe you can share your experience of using it. Is it a worth taking deraillieur ? Are you getting shifting issues quite often from it as what you have shwon it this video ? I'm planning to take a hybrid from Avanti brand here in my country, India and Microshift doesn't have a very big market here like the western market at your end. So, I'm bit confuse that should i go for this bike with this derailleur or I should think of taking something else.
Also wanna know, is that compatible with Shimano cassettes like 11-34T or 11-40T ? I don't know much about this because what i have seen in Microshift's website that it is compatible with 12-42T & 12-46T cassette only. And also, is this compatible with Shimano shifters too.
I'm sure that, I have asked you tons of questions but what to do mate....I believe only you can answer my questions before I invest as money matters a lot. Hope to hear from you.

      hello! thanks for watching.
i really like the acolyte derailleur. once i got the derailleur adjusted properly it works perfectly. i will say, without the acolyte shifter to go with it the acolyte derailleur did not work with the stock microshift derailleur. so i would say that the derailleur may work with a shimano shifter but id say its probably not going to work well.
i used the derailleur with the stock 11-34T cassette and it worked fine - but it does work alot better now that i have the acolyte cassette installed that is 12-42T
