You don’t have to. I just like to keep things clean
cool tutorial ...but u should make it smoother blend effect, in the final result on the letter I, N, G and Y are a little bit wavy

Also, is there a way to add the half tone effect to shadows (extrusion) instead of the front text?
Hi! Thanks for the comment! You can probably add the halftones dots the same way it’s added to the front text like in this video but there would be a few extra steps as the shadows are a blend and you’d have to unite it to make it a simple shape. Hope that makes sense.

One thing I got stuck on was the mask bit. I was unable to copy the dotted effect on to the mask.
Any tips on learning how to get better at it?
Hey ! Glad you liked it. The masking is a bit more of an advanced step, it took me awhile to understand masking. I have always just done a lot of trial and error, along with looking at other tutorials out there to get other techniques. It takes a lot of practice, I've been doing this for 5 years now so some of this is ingrained in my brain. But yes, lots of practise!

When i do compound path make it turn my text to white and then when I try to warp it into a wave it doesn’t change help!

Bestie I need the toddler version of this that's like 30 minutes lmao I did it great the first time around but when I came back to try again I mess something up at the 3 minute mark with the layers and can't get it to go right. But thank you so so much for sharing!

When you started selecting layers the instructions were not clear.

If the text is still a font you can click ALT and use the arrow keys to move the text up. If the text is expanded to a shape you can select the part you want to move with the direct select tool and move up. If you still can’t figure it out send me a msg on Instagram and I will try help. :)

After transparency my layers disappear I can’t get them get and my dots move instead of the word

Then there is a problem with your installation. Anyway, it is an unnecessary step and you don't need to use it.
Hello! Im getting stuck on 2:16.. for some reason when I press blend, it blends the pink one and not that dark pink one in the backk..
any advice on how I could fix this?
Go into your layers panel and make sure the blend layer you want to change is selected. If you still are having issues send me a msg on Instagram and I’ll try help!

I’m assuming you mean your text isn’t distorting into the shape. You have to make sure in your layers panel that the text layer is below the shape layer. If you still have questions please send me a msg on Instagram and I’ll try help!

How did you get your set up like that on the right side?
You mean my workspace correct? Go up to window then click workspace and there is pre-made workspace options to chose from. You can also create your own. I’ll do a tutorial on this.

I can’t make a compound path. It says to me that all objects must be paths, and they cannot be brushed or be part of an object. I’m not sure what the problem is? I did every step just like you did :(

this is actually frustrating me. why is it when I hit blend on the two layers it doesn’t make the back layer bigger like yours, it blends the whole thing together
@@micainreallife7953 you have to make sure the objects in each layer are either grouped or a compound path. I apologize I didn’t explain that in the video very well. how to enable the compound path WTF!!. you didn't indicate the shortcut
Go up to the top, click object then go to compound path near the bottom of the list then click make. Or click command 8. Hope this helps!
It was totally clear in the video. Anyway it's unnecessary. You can skip the create outlines and compound path.

At the top in illustrator go to effect then click warp then click wave or flag. Let me know if you have any other questions.
