And studided composing at Seoul University which is the most famous and reputational in south korea. Their emotions also made me nostalgic.
While I agree the hymn is intended to be played slower, I don’t mind this interpretation. It’s meant to be a joyous song and somewhat lively. I think there is a lot of passion in this interpretation. Now, what I can’t stand is when people play The Summons in an up beat tempo. That completely butchers the hymn
I’m not part of the piano gang, but I do wonder if they had read the lyrics beforehand; how would additional context affect their musical interpretation of this hymn? Would the pianist feel it suits the mood to do that glissando at the end? On the other hand, some songs can sound happy-go-lucky but actually be really morbid once translated.
This brings just joy to my heart every time I hear this beautiful hymn
