One of my best friends who's been through tough things in his life absolutely loves this series. One day he was playing this game for us on our discord together. This ending happened and when I heard him cry, it made me and everyone else cry. While Kingdom Hearts is far from a great story, this first game's ending is simply timeless.

Came here to relive better times. I got my 17 year old cat when I was playing this game. I named her Kairi. We’re putting her to sleep next Thursday and I just had to hold onto this precious memory when I beat the game and watched this with her for the first time. Long live video games, man. Oh my, when the music hits, "when you walk away" starting exactly when their hands are separated... I mean, even as a kid I had expected a fun but fundamentally silly game combining final fantasy and disney universes, and then this game pulls out an ending like this. YOU CAN'T hit me with so many feels even after sixteen goddamned years, it's unfair.
This broke me, I wasn't expecting to end like this and I cried hard over this, both because I felted for Kairi and Sora but also the song is so emotional. Phenomenal ending to a game that is now one of my all time favorites, can't wait to play all the rest.
Only* Kingdom Hearts 2 is the ONLY Kingdom Hearts game with a happy ending for the protagonist. Besides maybe Coded, where the protagonist wasn't even real.
After spending days playing this game for the first time, grinding and doing all I could before the final boss, it was only when the music started that it downed on me it was over, my heart was both crushed and relieved, but watching the credits roll was when I started crying out of happiness for having experienced this masterpiece. My favorite game series is and forever will be Kingdom Hearts. May your heart be your guiding key!
If I’m not mistaken this and FFX came out around the same time, maybe 1 year apart and I remember the cut scenes/graphics in these games were revolutionary. This has aged so well. Hits home.

I was about to cry when I was in a party with my friends, this was an beautiful ending and Simple and Clean is so perfect. The way the song plays right after Sora tells Kairi he will come back to her was actually sad. Going to Chain of Memories; also new Kingdom Hearts fan.
Have to say, I was taken aback by the bittersweet ending for this game. Sure, you won, but does not only lost one, but both of his best friends. Have not beat 2 or 3 yet so I don't know if he finally reunites with them through those 2 games, but this ending just felt so much more impactful by the fact that it seems that there may be a happy ending then pulling this outta nowhere. It really sets up the series better as a whole.

I discover this game after I noticed an odd case cover with disney characters. I was confused why my uncle, who is an adult, would play this game. I played it. Nonstop for a week and finished it slowly. I had so much fun until I got to the ending, I did NOT see this coming. I felt broken, knowing I will never get to see what happen next. That summer ended and it was so sad I wish part 2 came out. My parents wouldn't get us a console so they got me a handheld, a DS. First game I got was the recode card & then the 358/2day game. I was so sad I didn't know what to do after 358/2 once again left me empty for kh2. After almost decade later I own my own ps4 and bought the entire collection. Eagerly waiting for Kh3... Now they left me sad again after Kh3 ending, it didn't felt like it was enough, it was rushed... But after kh4 news, so excited! The game was a rollercoaster nostalgia to me. Love this franchise, especially my kids are in to it too!

this ending made me cry so much but what made me cry a lot is Sora being in Super Smash Bros Ultimate as the final dlc fighter when i heard the orchestral version of simple and clean in his reveal trailer it brought me memories of playing this game in my jr high school years
I love how the opening song is slowed down for the ending song, it really does make it feel like a conclusion. It turns a high energy song into a melancholic yet still triumphant song.

After almost decade later I own my own ps4 and bought the entire collection.
Eagerly waiting for Kh3...
Now they left me sad again after Kh3 ending, it didn't felt like it was enough, it was rushed...
But after kh4 news, so excited!
The game was a rollercoaster nostalgia to me. Love this franchise, especially my kids are in to it too!
No there isn't dust in my eyes, I can still manage to tear up at this.
It's thw paupu fruit drawings for me that get me on feels. It's Kairi crying and finishing the drawing that sends me over the ledge every time 😭
The faith in her voice is what gets to me

What I wouldn’t give to see this for the first time again.
I remember watching my best friend beating this game cuz I was so bad at it but I didn’t care watching him destroy the whole story mode had me memorized and I couldn’t stop thinking about this ending of Kingdom Hearts.. I was struck and sad for a days.. such a badass game and great ending..
Man I can’t help but feel this little piece inside of me wishing the series ended just as strong as this. At least for these two
I just shed tears this brings back so many memories just sitting in front of the bed with my PS2 spending hours on hours on this game and the ending was just perfect we’ll never get that again

This game shared a special place in my heart helped me to dream the story lines id play this all over for that reason this game was inspirational
this ending made me cry so much but what made me cry a lot is Sora being in Super Smash Bros Ultimate as the final dlc fighter when i heard the orchestral version of simple and clean in his reveal trailer it brought me memories of playing this game in my jr high school years
This is so endlessly magical, it doesn't matter how many times I play it or see it, is... Oh, man.

I love how the opening song is slowed down for the ending song, it really does make it feel like a conclusion. It turns a high energy song into a melancholic yet still triumphant song.
Nostalgia oldies but still goodies for me❤ thank you to all the persons who make this game I really really love this!

I get goosebumps everytime I see this. As soon as their hands seperate and the song starts is one of my favorite scenes in any game.
They don’t make games like this no more and it’s a shame people today won’t experience this substance.
