    O-rings you will need: amzn.to/42GCagg (011 Buna-N O-Ring, 5/16" ID, 7/16" OD, 1/16" Width)

    Thank you for this video. I’ve got a 40hp merc with this exact problem. This video will give the confidence I need to repair. 👍

    Just saved me $400 and a lot of frustration finding the right o-rings. Great video, thanks so much!! Now, if you could recommend a cost effective high pressure fuel pump equivalent to the $600 mercury OEM pump, that has the correct amperage draw, you'd really be my hero 😂

      What part number is the fuel pump you need? I might have a place that would have one cheaper

    Thanks for the video! It will save me over $500! I do have something to add though... The OEM Mercury O Ring MERCURY - O-RING - 8M0124318 (found after an exhaustive search) costs $6-$9 EACH!!!!! The size is 1.78mm X 7.94mm (NBR) Buna-N 70 Duro Metric O-Ring BUT BUT BUT I found them at The O RIng Store LLC Clarkston WA 99403.
    16 cost a little over $5 (minimum order) + shipping. I wanted an exact fit, and the 1.78mm X 7.94mm filled the entire seat, where the Amazon O Rings left a little gap in the seat.
    These are the exact fitment called for by Mercury (shame on them for charging so much for a factory part!!!).

      Sounds like something a dealership would do lol, Good to know on the sizing, I had no leaks at all with the amazon o-rings, but I can understand wanting them to seat fully. I'm sure somewhere like mcmaster carr or that would be able to source an o-ring with the proper cross section size.

      @@trythistv The O RIng Store LLC Clarkston WA 99403 has the exact same ring as Mercury part# 8M0124318 1.78mm X 7.94mm
      No need to go anywhere else for sizing as that is the OEM part exact size. I think 5 bucks for 16 is very fair compared to $6-$9 each for the exact same ring from Mercury!
      Keep up the great videos.

    I replace the cooler module rather than replace the seals but the instructions were great.

    I have the same issue and plan to do a DIY dock side repair. How do you release the fuel pressure without having a pressure gauge? Want to release pressure before I disassemble.

    • @trythistv
      @trythistv  Před rokem

      There is a schrader valve to relieve pressure in the fuel system, but that is the high pressure side, it should let some pressure out of the lines, but you might have success disconnecting or pinching off the line from the fuel tank and then starting the engine momentarily, that would drain the lines into the vapor separator tank.

    Hello. Very helpful, however the cooler on my newly acquired second hand 2011 F30 Bigfoot is blocked! Tried blowing through it without luck. Reluctant to chemically clean it, as I don’t know it’s real condition, and even more reluctant to replace it (€600!!). I ended up by-passing it. Any ideas if this can damage the engine, or will it just affect performance? Thank you

    • @trythistv
      @trythistv  Před rokem

      It might make it more prone to vapor lock (basically hard or impossible to start when hot) but past that it shouldn't hurt anything. Have you pulled the end caps off and tried to blow compressed air or something through it?

    I have tio change Lpw Pressure pump but i cant figure out how to remove the lower cowling to rmove the bottom bolt. do you know how? i cant find it anywhere. its not in my srevice manual thanks

    • @trythistv
      @trythistv  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Typically removing the lower cowling just is a whole mess of bolts that holds the two halves of the lower cowl together, and once all the bolts are out either side basically falls off

    • @scd603
      @scd603 Před 19 dny

      If you remove the mechanism that locks the cowling cover, there is just enough room to get that lower bolt out and back in
