they didn’t write it for harry. harry has always written with his close friends in that group. that’s how he likes to make his records. i think you’re discrediting harry a little bit. he’s received so much praise from the older musicians like, Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood, Bon Jovi, Brian May, Bob Geldof, Joni Mitchell, Mick Jagger and many others. Harry is also friends with Midge. harry grew up on the old music and not the music you hear today. he’s an old soul. i’m sure he understands what midge brought to this song.

It’s not about range but about life experience, all of which you can hear in Midges version, if you have the ears to hear - and as I’m in my 50s, I think I have. If you are in your twenties, you may sing it better but you just won’t understand it
He’s almost 70. His vocal range isn’t as it was 40 years ago when he sung Vienna. See if anyone one can hit the Vienna high notes…..not easy. Harry will lose his vocal range too in Years to come.
Remember midge is vocals are not the same when he was young he had a high voice still a good live performer but get harry to sing vienna he would not be able to look at midge in live aid you see a great voice he said his voice is not the same?
