  • Lyrics:
If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do
    Is to save every day
    'Til eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you
If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I'd save every day like a treasure and then
Again would spend them with you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
    Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go
    Through time with
If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
    The box would be empty
    Except for the memory
Of how they were answered by you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
    Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go
    Through time with

My big brother was so protective of me and always looked after me growing up, even into adulthood. He spent his entire life alone. And then, in his 50’s, he got cancer. Having nobody to care for him and facing homelessness and cancer I moved him in with me to care for him. During that final 2 years of his life, he shared so many family memories with me and taught me so much, especially about God. Before he left this world, he left a folder on his computer for me to find after he’d gone. It contained a lot of his favorite music. Very personal songs that made him think of his family, and many of which reminded him of his baby brother. This was one of those songs.
I’m 56 now. The same age my brother was when I lost him 8 years ago. This song will forever remind me of Tony. Man, I wish I could have just one more day with him.

We will be rejoined with our loved ones and our ancestors, and we will feast and rejoice and be at peace. I'm so sorry for your loss and the pain you have endured, but always remember you will see him again one day, and you won't be sad any more on that day. Much love to you, stay strong, my friend.

A little backstory Jim Croce wrote this song when he was 30 before he died as part of an album but when he died the album was incomplete so it was released as a single... And it became his greatest hit RIP Jim

Actually it was a little different. This song was part of Jim's first album, "You Don't Mess Around With Jim", but was not released as a single and was not a hit, much as it deserved to be both those things. Then he released his second LP, the one with "Bad Bad Leroy Brown" on it, and there may have been one more hit song on that LP, so no one was thinking about going back to the first LP at that point to find a hit, until some movie producers picked "Time In a Bottle" as the perfect song for their TV movie, "She Lives", about a young woman dying of cancer. They had gone to their local record store and bought a stack of pop LP's in hopes of finding the right song for their movie, and sat down and listened to them all, and when they heard "Time In a Bottle", they knew they had their song. On the night the movie aired (sometime in late summer 1973), TV stations got tons and tons of calls from people who had seen "She Lives", asking where they could get the record. And it was about one month later that Jim died in that plane crash. After a long time of plugging away as an under-recognized performer, he had one year of great success, topped off by this song.

That is a beautiful gift you’re giving him!!!
      💟💟💟
Parents and grandparents just want time together, with those they love, as that is more precious than silver and gold.
You both will cherish these memories.
If I may make a suggestion, if you don’t already do it, please record (audio, better if by video, so you can see and hear him long after he’s gone) EVERY conversation y’all have together!!!
Our loved ones are only here for a short while, though through salvation, we’ll be with them again… Praise be to God for that!!!
      Anyway, thank you for sharing.
      Take care, and God bless.

Hang in there, keep on living for her, and her memory. The world has hardships but you're stronger than all that. Keep going strong, you're doing great

Makes me very sad but musically, it is nothing short of brilliance. Thanks for the memories, Jim.
