I did not pay attention in Paralegal School 35 years ago when an Instructor highly recommended IP law. This was Silicon Valley and IP Paralegals are clearly the most successful. In-house, Law Firm, they have the most longevity in the legal field. Patent Paralegals, Agents, and Attorneys work in the best offices and have wonderful careers as opposed to the usual high turnover unsatisfactory careers of litigation.

I've also heard similar regarding IP paralegals and lawyers! Apparently, it's a hard field to break into as a paralegal!

You have a lot of patience to commute that long, that’s hard work in itself. I hope you become a lawyer someday.

Yeah haha it is a long commute, but it is sorta relaxing to sit and listen to music or a podcast! Definitely beats being stressed driving in DC traffic 😅

86 degrees in phoenix this morning! Highs today 107! A 40% chance of monsoon thunderstorms tonight!

I just finished my certificate and degree and I'm interested in IP, but I have no law experience whatsoever. Any advice on what to look for in a law firm? I'm also going to be doing follow up courses on NALA

how did you apply for this job? I want to become an IP paralegal but don't know where to find a IP law firm near or how to apply to one.

Hey Cayla! I applied online through the firm's website - I believe it asked for a resume and cover letter, then I was asked to do an interview. Try googling "IP law firms near me" and see what comes up. Then go to those firm's websites and see if they have a page on their website about Open Positions/Careers/Job Opportunities etc. If the firm is hiring, then they should have Legal Assistant/Paralegal positions listed on there that would include the instructions on how to apply. If you can't find any information on the website, you could try emailing using the Contact Information on the website, but that may get less responses. If you have any other questions, let me know!
