Various shots of mass of yachts with the crews getting ready for start of the Cowes Regatta. Royal yacht Britannia at Cowes harbour. Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh sailed on it to come and take part in the Regatta.
Several shots of Prince Philip and his friend Uffa Fox sailing in their yacht Coweslip, presumably towards the staring position. His yacht comes third in its category.
One of a line of small cannons is fired and the yachts are off. Various shots of the yachts racing and people watching, some through binoculars - Sovereign in the lead and Lord Craigmyle's Norsaga challenges it. More shots of the yachts racing, Sovereign, sailed by Peter Scott, wins the race.
