- I'm in the streets of Toronto asking parents a simple question: if their child picked up a book with representations of gay marriage, would they let them read it?

I feel like Canadians are a lot more accepting than Americans.
this is true.
uh
DRUNKDONKEY100 dang brush just cuz they gay don't u got to be like that they are human beings just like straight people
ThatOneKid they did get gay marriage a long time before us
they do
..and your married to a girl!
OMG CUTENESS OVERLOAD
+IisBubbles I KNOW!! I myself am a lesbian and I plan on adopting, and that just me look forward to it even more.
+Diamond 1 Yasuo you know you're not really going to piss anyone off here so you might as well leave...we are all too preoccupied with how cute this little girl is so bye!
+Luna Furtwangler no matter what I want to adopt because there are plenty of children that just need homes and I want to make sure less children feel unwanted
Eeeeeeh im late but lesbian party!!
I live in Mississippi and if I went around asking people about this book I would get a VERY different response.
Alyssa P I imagine so...
Alyssa P im glad you’d get a different response, there is hope that in Mississippi people that believe in God, real Christians. 🙏
I find it scary that anyone would look up to people in Mississippi as the gold standard for anything
If being a good Christian means the clique mentality that exists down there with the racism and fanatical ideas included- it makes me even more glad to be a Buddhist. I believe prejudice is wrong. That's what I believe.
The above comment represents everything wrong with the Bible and the Christian worldview. Too much dualism. Daniel dude, why not embrace a religion of real unconditional love that is about the noble work of liberating all beings from suffering? The perfect, enlightened Sambuddha was the teacher of love and truth. He knew every aspect of reality through deep penetration into everything.
As a Canadian I can affirm that we are nicer regarding gay rights.
+Kat Bell because you are the lesser version of the United States of America :D
auot ukun with the bigger heart!
Well when I get kicked out of my home for being a raging homosexual I’ll definitely move to Canada
Mad Katter they weren’t harsh at all
Damn they (the people ) believe different things I’m surprised they didn’t say anything mean
Kat the son of perdition..the main Antichrist is coming from Canada
this is why i want to move to canada
Funky Town no, because in a month or so, one of the two most cringiest people will lead the country.
Funky Town trump is literally the epitome of the word 'cringe' but i just dislike hillary due to her excessive use of memes just to get more votes
Funky Town thank you. ^^
shikkakyuu because Canada is the best contry and with alot of rights
shikkakyuu trump ain't shit

i remember back in like year 3 the teacher who i didn't know at the time was gay. Is gay read a similar book "king and king" and everyone in the class didn't react to it at all. It was just another story to us. So how come a bunch of 6-7 year old kids can except and understand something adults cant? I know that everyone reacted nicely and liked the idea but in everyday life people don't. This was amazing
+1000 - 7 So true! As children my sister and I used to listen to audio plays. Some of them had same sex couples in them and my favorite character ever was a transgender woman. Even in elementary school we had a very good Sex Ed book on all kinds of facts, including LGBT topics.
Btw, love your avatar
6-7 year olds don't really have developed values or beliefs yet. They accept anything they hear. It's not impressive just natural.
Miss Sheska just saw your comment and that's awesome. Thanks btw

Gay marriage isn't that important, but their arguments are interesting
and many times annoying and make me wana question them. So many
fallacies. You question it, they question why you question something
that "doesn't effect you" and they make personal attacks and fail to see
how their own "logic" may lead to unintended consequences.
If you can remove 1 requirement (Where marriage used to require 2 people of the opposite sex) than the case can be used as a precedent to remove other requirements for marriage. Here is a transcript from the gay marriage supreme court case:
"Alito raises yet another potential human pairing, that of unmarried siblings, asking if a state could bar them from marrying:
ALITO: [L]et’s think about two groups of two people. The first is
the same-sex couple who have been together for 25 years, and they get
married either as a result of a change in State law or as a result of a
Court decision. The second two people are unmarried siblings. They’ve
lived together for 25 years. Their financial relationship is the same as
the - the same-sex couple. They share household expenses and household
chores in the same way. They care for each other in the same way. Is
there any reason why the law should treat the two groups differently?
BONAUTO: Well, I’m not sure that the law would - the - the law
allows 100 percent of heterosexual people to enter into a marriage
that’s consistent with their sexual orientation, and in these States, it
forbids 100 percent of gay and lesbian people from entering into a
marriage that’s consistent with their sexual orientation -
ALITO: Well, as far as -
VERRILLI: - and justifies that difference.
ALITO: As far as the - the benefits that federal law confers on married people, such as in Windsor, the effect on estate taxes, what would be the reason for treating those two groups differently?
VERRILLI: Well, I - I - I’m not entirely sure there would be, but,
of course, marriage is something more fundamental than that. It is an
enduring bond between two people."

I love how the little girl's is so over gay issues she's like yeah more of the same thing.
This story plot reminds me of Joey Graceffa - Don't Wait Music Video. Anyone has the same thought?
yes!
ntr
Yes I loved that video!
me too
Hyuk Xoxo OMG YASS
I was kind of bracing for people to be dicks about it and I'm not in the mood and I nearly clicked away, but I'm glad I watched.
+Demidron i was prepared to scream at people for being homophobic. it's mainly the older adults who are homophobic, and when i saw the older couples and people i was prepared to endure their opinions on homosexuality, but surprisingly enough it didn't happen. oh, canada. so much better than america regarding discrimination.
The little girl's reaction was the best. It just doesn't phase her. She doesn't even consider the relationship part, she's more interested in the storyline. Kids aren't prejudice. They learn prejudice from the heteronormative and sometimes homophobic society they grow up in.
Kids are pure until the ugly adults change them into monsters like them
Even The Bible Tells Us To Accept People For Who They Are No Matter What.
The Bible Has No Flaws, It Secretly Accepts Gay And Lesbian People, It Is SWAG...
Got the book,
I showed it to my son and he loves it. Then I showed him the video when his dad proposed to me. This is so adorable now my son won't let go of his ipad thanx this was so cute
@@jewando1 not a bad thing
First gay disney movie adaptation of this story. That would be awesome!
I would've been like "It's just your normal childrens book. It doesn't matter that they are gay."
I'm happy that there are books. that out there because the word "gay" is treated like a curse word in front of children. I'm happy that i was lucky enough to have positive gay role models in my life.
this book is so perfect! im definitely getting it for my nephew. loved the video Michael!
GET IT ITS LITERALLY SO CUTE
Michael Rizzi YOU'RE LITERALLY SO CUTE
Joshua trill I know right
Michael Rizzi YOUR LITERALLY SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+Michael Rizzi you are so cute !
This is such a great story....
It's such a great message to kids
Kids should learn that the world is different!
As a gay person I absolutely love diversity in things
This definitely has become a different world then it was 15 years ago.
this is why I'm a proud Canadian , we are so accepting ❤❤
Phoenix Because you obviously dont know what I am talking about....There is a new movement of pedophiles who want to be accepted as being "born this way." What I am saying is simply because you claim to be born liking the same sex DOES NOT mean it should be accepted but treated. First, homosexuals. Then people who say, "gee, I feel like I am not a man, but a woman", let me dress up like one and take these hornone shots, and viola..I am a woman a s should be able to go to the bathroom with women and men should date me like I am and I should have legal rights like a woman." It reeks of sickness and just because the powers that be want it, they have convinced you and people like you to ACCEPT ANYTHING THEY TELL YOU TO ACCEPT. Its sick. NEXT, pedophiles or next " I was born a dog" The people in power want it, then they start a campaign to brainwash you into accepting it.
Every frigging country has an age of consent which is why the legalization of pedophilia is not going to happen. Comparing a consensual same-sex relationship to pedophilia, murder or whatever you homophobes can come up with is realllllly getting old. Aren't you people bored of these same old threads over and over again?
"What I am saying is simply because you claim to be born liking the same sex DOES NOT mean it should be accepted but treated" What should be treated??? Why should attraction and romantic feelings be "cured"?! People are NOT sick for liking their own gender. Get a life
Nelly BeautyVlogs you should be ASHAMED. You're sending people to HELL by shoving LGBT down people's throats! And what's even MORE ridiculous is that you're teaching KIDS this shit! Stop brainwashing the vulnerable kids, you monster. You're disgusting.
Yeah because religion is not basically brainwashing. Baptizing a baby who doesn't even understand what's going on around him and then later on exposing him to religious education is certainly not the exploitation of the vulnerability of kids. Right...
I think you are disgusting. It's much worse to teach kids that it's wrong to have feelings for someone of the same sex. Many teenagers experience self-hatred and may even commit suicide because of this bigotted attitude. Supporters of heteronormativity are the true monsters.
If hell does exist, it must be waaay better assuming that heaven is full of pricks like you
@@Spyros_SP god never told you to judge people. So yeah, you make so many sin in every comment on this video
Torontonians are so chill about LBGT+ rights... So are most Canadians really. Makes me happy to be Canadian when I see things like this, and wish I was back home in Canada. But the UK is pretty accepting as well, and I love it too much here.
Shelby Devaud wow, what a godless person,
If she's godless I'll say congratulations! Nothing good ever came out of religion.

How I wish people around the world are open minded just like these amazing Canadians... But it's impossible.
precisely :D
Man Hound I heard your voice dripping with sarcasm when I read that lmao
People in Canada are so nice and open. They think things through and don't push it away. Here in America you would get much more negative reactions.
People in Canada have freeze brain. They are assholes.
@ You yourself seem like such a nice person, please elaborate on how am I an asshole?
Maybe not cuz 68% of the us population support lgbtq+ rights which is good
Even Religon Supports Gay Rights.
Michael, I'm so proud of the kind of content you're putting the effort into producing! I'm glad you're using your exposure to spark interesting conversations and spread positivity through content like this and your last video-also about parents coming to terms with the spectrum of love and sexuality. Keep up the good work! ♡
Thank you very much!! :)
+Michael Rizzi there is a show called Steven universe I think you would be interested in and I think you should make a reaction video to two scenes in particular. rainbow quartz fusion and Ruby sapphire jailbreak

Jamaal Montemayor agreed
Michael, you found some amazing open-minded people, but you are in Toronto, right? If you do this same thing in the U.S., and in places like Knoxville, Tennessee or Macon, Georgia, or Birmingham, Alabama, I'm sure you will find a much different reaction.
***** You could do this in the most accepting city in the US and still get a much different reaction. (Not to be cynical) I mean everyone I know is accepting and I love it, but of course it still happens
True. I think some southern places have more homophobic people.
caseyflorida
I live in Georgia
Im part of the LGBT community
I CAN say most of the adults here are homophobic almost all the kids dont care
caseyflorida I need to move to these states ASAP
The world is spinning and people's minds are changing very quickly.
Imagine such a book some decades ago... Never, ever would it have seen the light of day.
Canada is such a great place. I was in Canada last year for the first time in my life (Montreal) and I was overwhelmed by the friendliness and coolness of the people. Everybody was so relaxed. In Europe people are stressed and it is getting worse and worse. You are lucky people -plus you have a very attractive president!
One of the things I'm most grateful for from my mom, is that she taught me and my brother to accept everyone. I grew up in a rare household. Being gay wasn't different. Her friends would come over, a gay couple, and it wasn't ever strange to me. I would definitely buy this book for my future children.
Same here
I'm reading this to my child every night when I get older lol
+Larry Stylinson try explaining to them what the knight and the prince do :D
Anal sex. Be straightforward lol
Good luck going to heaven
@@jewando1 Gay And Lesbian People Can Still Make It To Heaven...
I love how the last one was the mum putting together an argument about why she thinks it's good and then the little girl is just like, "it's cuz your gay" 😂😂
im so glad to live in toronto where I can actually be myself apart from my home country which isn't kind towards lgbtq. If Michael went there and did this, he wouldn't be alive to post it on youtube... sad but true... #TorontoPride
Canadians seem to be a lot more accepting of this issue than Americans. When I first watched this video, I mistakenly thought it was shot in the U.S and was very surprised at how open-minded everybody seems, as in my experience Americans sadly tend to be very brainwashed by religion. Then I realized it was in Canada and so it made more sense. Americans should really follow Canada's approach to tolerance
He did this in Toronto, one of the most progressive and gay-friendly cities in the world so their views aren't shocking to me. I miss Toronto!
i think all kids should read this, even if they aren't gay it will help them relate to someone they meet. who might be so there won't be the hate.
TPR38655 get lost, this book is toxic, NO KID should read it!!!
Itz Communist Ducko How is it toxic? Lmao
Its Communist I'm not joking. I don't believe in God, so I dont see it as a sin.
Itz Communist Ducko My point was, it's pointless to use the Bible as an arguement against someone who doesn't believe in the Bible
Natsuki PFFFT. Even though you don't believe in the Bible, there's still proof of it being true.
omg the kid was so cute when she said "and you're married to a girl" i'm melting, she's adorable

SLAY KID SLAY!!!!!
I swear that child is secretly evil but in a cute way
Wow I wish red states in America were this open minded... If they asked parents in Georgia they would act like all hell had broken loose.
Kelsey Phillips it would have
Toronto is one of the best cities to live in. Very multicultural and everyone leaves each other alone.
A very sincere thank you to all the parents out there in the video, it means the world to us to see how far we've come. And Mikey I think a lot of your fans would really love to see more videos like this one.
I love how all the parents were so supportive! This is amazing
If they did this in America he’d get different reactions....why is Canada always one step ahead
Moop meep going to be behind in the long run, didn't Canada just pay a terrorist 10 million dollars, brilliant
Canada rocks! So proud of my home country!!!
Marie-Pier Surprenant it and you, are quite disgusting
Keep it to yourself.
Marie-PierSurprenant will you be proud seeing these people going to Hell for believing that this is ok? You should not be proud.
Ruben Macedo ... oh look, another brain-dead person. There's NOTHING good about Hell. It's a place full of torment and torture... THAT LASTS FOREVER. Please activate your brain. :)
Itz Ducko I was obviously joking, i dont even believe in heaven or hell 😂
I just love seeing such a warm, friendly, and open minded response to topics like this. I don't know if he only put the positive reactions in this video but I don't care. We need more positive things like this. It is just really comforting to know that there are people out there that are like this.
This is hilarious because I'm an aspiring author and my cousin recently had a baby and I wanted to right a children story about a same sex couple so they could be introduced positively at a young age. I'm so glad this exists now, kids need positive exposure.
It's great to see people being accepting, but what if the video was shot with a different interviewer? Are the people in the video actually accepting of gay marriage or are they being polite to the interviewer?
i wish people were so accepting where I live :(
As an American from the south I had to pause the video before he finished the story, to mentally prepare myself for the cringe attack I thought I'd experience up ahead...I'm so happily surprised that wasn't the case! Especially with older people, here it would be pretty much a given they'd be slightly homophobic. But the type of acceptance shown by the people in this video warms my heart so much; thank you.
I’m so proud of my fellow Canadians, and am glad I live in a city (Toronto) where the majority of people are this accepting
when i adopt my child im straight up gonna be like listen hunny, you love whatever gender you want to, just make sure they actually love you back and we got ourselves a deal
Oh it's not sin, go on lie to innocent children
I love you
No wonder it's called 'The Bravest Knight Who Ever Live"
I was so pleasantly surprised by these reactions! Thank you for making this video
You are SOOOO lucky! You live in a time and place where obviously people have been enlightened. Just one generation back and this would be unthinkable. My life would be so different now if things were this way when I was growing up.
I had no idea that there was such a book as this. I would definitely buy it for my nieces and nephews. Children don't understand the concept of judging people for their sexuality, religion, or race. It is us adults that teach them to judge and look at the most simplest, purest things in critical ways. We NEED to change this and this book is one of the ways!!!
Wait, they're showing completely innocent stories and not blatant sexual descriptions?? WHO KNEW!?
Way to go Michael! Very well done and right downtown Toronto... Lovely to hear all these great positive comments + "After All Love is LOVE" I want to read that book now. We are so fortunate to live in a wonderful country with such inclusion and equity in all its diversity.
This is so, so great. Thank you so much for making this, Michael! This video gives me hope for the future. We're living in such historic and exciting times...
If I ever so desired to procreate, that human is gonna have this as one of the first books on their shelf.
+Savannah Elise You need a book to learn about having babies? lol
+NC Quadraxis No, you need books to teach your children to be cultured and open-minded.
That is one formal ass way to say “when I want kids”
Great book, it's good to teach kids about tolerance and to just be themselves
I can't agree with this philosophy you can't just let your kid be themselves you have to train them in right and wrong. I can't just let my song join a gang because he feels that's for him.

We can't force people to think (if) they are in fact born with a sexual desire, that they have to act on it. EVERYBODY should control their desires. there are straights who go celibate their entire lives.

Dumbbells Only maybe because it’s a bad thing to let other people tell your kids about what their beliefs should be. It’s common now to go walking down the street and see a gay couple, so you don’t want your child to learn it’s wrong. Oh sorry wait, YOU do. It’s obvious you’re a person against equality, you don’t like people for doing something that doesn’t hurt you or affect you, and it’s terrible to tell a person they can’t love someone that they do. You are homophobic and it’s clear you’re trying to cover it up. I’m not attacking you, I’m helping people to get equal rights you try to deny them.
THIS WAS SO FEEL GOOD, MIKEY. Great job.
That was resfreshing :) I must show that to my nephew who keeps asking questions about me & his "other uncle" (my man;) My nephew is 5 and already learning to read. Is there a version of that book in French?
This is why Toronto is awesome •_•!
This was sooo uplifting
I'm glad I watched this.
Gay Mommy Aiko freak
My response would have been "How much is it?" LMAO
I'm so glad that you got all positive comments! That's awesome! Toronto is so cool!
So, this video is amazing, and I really love it! It's great to see such open mindedness from people, even if I watched this video waaaaay late. As I was scrolling through the comments though, I noticed A LOT of homophobic remarks. It damn near broke my heart. And the worst part is that I'm not even mad. All I feel is pity for these poor, narrow minded people.
Dawn 1000 Well said Dawn....it's just sad some people still have such bigoted small-minded attitudes in these enlightened days.
I Love the book, it's so cute. But getting a little off topic here, did anyone notice the guy in the background at 0:49 hold up the ✌🏻when he noticed the camera?
Aww this was was such a cool concept! Awesome video!! :)
I do believe this is the most outstanding thing you have done here.
I was preparing myself for both the video and the comment section to find several brutally negative responses to this but I'm pleasantly surprised to see none and honestly this is how it should be. No negativity man.
Ifeanyi Nwonye check the comments again man...
Captflameskull lol I'd rather not
Ifeanyi Nwonye good decision on ya
That's such a great idea. I think it's REALLY important to teach children at a young age that there is more out there and that it's totally normal that there can be a prince+princess, prince+prince, princess+princess or whatever combination. It's not black&white anymore. If parents would tell their kids that it's ok if someone is gay it would be so much easier for children/teens to come out and don't have to worry about others because everyone would have been taught the same.
I really liked this! It's good to see that parents these days are a lot more open minded about discussing these topics with their children.
made me emotional in the end! that was so beautiful!
THIS IS SO AWESOME OH SHIT GAY TEARS GUYS ITS REAL
I'm definitely moving to Canada when I grow up, dream land !
Great job, man! Congratulations.. we need more open and accepting people in this planet.

You have the freedom to follow your religion and it's beliefs, you do not get to put your beliefs onto others. Your religion can dictate you not us. If you don't "believe" in gay marriage, then don't get gay married. Don't like gay books, don't read them. I think your god would dislike you more for your hatred against someone else's love then he would against gays.

it's not about hate. most people of faith don't hate anytbody. I thank for for saying we have a right to believe what we want. most of the world wants to force us to believe in something we don't so it's great to see a fair person
