Fencing Senior World Championships Moscow 2015
School of Saberfighting is one of the first teams in the world that specialises in public performance of duels inspired by Star Wars, and also provides training for those who wish to learn this form of stage fencing.
Many of our trainees have won the highest stage fencing athletic titles in various Russian championships, and acted in fencing combat scenes in theatre and films. They also collaborated with a Combat Choreographer from Hollywood, and performed during the World Fencing Championship 2015.

i don't know ... when they hit down it goes too low to the ground so it's pointless... in real life you would attack to the legs or knees, but not to the ground that's too tipically coreographed move
some moves do feel fake, like the sweep around the beggining, but it's overall so fluid that realism is left second

I mean it totally looks choreographed it's very flashy which is rarely how real battles go but it looks incredible who cares

You know what is REALLY amazing? In movies, there usually are a lot of cuts and every scene is pieced together so that it LOOKS like it is one long and intense battle.
Here though...? These two madman remembered the WHOLE DAMN about 2 minute long choreography and executed it PERFECTLY well and SO fluent that it didn't even notice they switched weapons halfway through! And the camera was centered on them the whole damn time, one single long epic take!
Even without the music and the lightsaber soundeffect which they certainly didn't have in that hall since it probably was editet aferwards, even without that, it's still impressive as fuck that they pulled off a choreography THAT long and quick in perfect sync so perfectly fluid!
And the goddamn crowd doesn't give two shits about it?!!! WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH THEM?!!!!
I agree! It's no Luke Skywalker vs Darth Vader on the second Death Star, or Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn vs Darth Maul, but it was still totally epic! The film makers at Disney who work on the Star Wars projects could learn a thing or two from watching this. Specifically, when it comes to Lightsaber choreography.
Well, music is incredible important. Watch an edit of the "duel of the fates" fight/scene, without the music. It loses almost all epicness.
In the hall, the people heard just the people/noises in the hall and a lot of "clack, clack", "clack, clack, clack". :D

It's a crying shame so few people in the audience are seeing this. It's utterly incredible seeing these guys move at what feels like superhuman speed. If only the films could look half as good. Major applause to both gentlemen for a phenomenal performance.

I absolutely love that moment at about 0:43, where the red lightsaber wielder makes for a kick, but notices that the blue blade part of the double saber is right there and would be able to cut his foot off. A great moment that shows you that the red lightsaber wielder has enough experience to recognize that blunder and correct it in the span of less than a second.

The mid-fight weapons switch goes crazy, incredible acrobatics, agility, and masterful choreography on both their parts. Well done.
Having actually learned several martial arts weapons including the Chinese broadsword, Japanese Katana and Wakizashi, the Italian Rapier and the English Épée, I dedicated nearly all of my youth to those 5 weapons. This is the most impressive thing I've seen in a while. Much better than the movies, honestly.

When 2 minutes of a yt lightsaber video are far superior then the 3 last Star Wars films and 38 spinoff series combined.
This is a better lightsaber fight than any of the fights in Star Wars, period, except maybe the final part of Obi Wan vs Maul in TPM

@@Li-Nuss Maul's fight vs Obi-Wan after Qui-Gon is killed is fantastic, but most of the fight before that is over-choreographed, especially the moments where both Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon are fighting Maul at the same time, as they have multiple times where they just kinda stand there for a second waiting for Maul to be in a position to block before they swing their sabers. It looks really stupid. There are a bunch of equally stupid moments in lightsaber fights in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. The only fights that actually feel real are in the OT and the sequels, and since the sequel fights go too far in the opposite direction and have pretty much zero choreography and are just boring, it's only really Darth Vader vs Luke Skywalker fights in ESB and RotJ that are really extraordinary (the Obi-Wan vs Vader fight in A New Hope is boring as hell).

Easily the most impressive lightsaber duel I've ever seen. I wish I could've been one of the spectators; events like these are a truly spectacular experience when viewed live.

The Cornhusker State Games in Nebraska has "Energy Sword" as an event (can't call it Light Saber due to copyright). It's not fast and choreographed like this. It's really a branch of fencing. But many of the competitors dress the part. I've never gotten to watch it because it's always the same time as my event

@@jjlrdz Yes, that works for the fights of the new trilogy too. They're not as flashy as the ones in the prequel trilogy (nor should they be, these are still not Jedi at the peak of their art ), but they carry much more story and character stuff than the fights in the prequels.

Wrong crowd, this was a fencing world championship and all I could think of was all the times they exposed themselves and left themselves vurnerable and I'm just a weekend warrior, these professional fighters probably thought it was painful to watch. Great show, but very much the worst place to perform it.
