Hey Evan, it's Evan. Issue #1 GET THOSE METAL SHAVINGS OUT OF THE OIL PAN. I mean if you're looking to kill your car REAL QUICK, then thats a good way to do it. Issue #2 I told ya that it would make it ALLOT easier if you turned the turbo around, it would be so much easier to access everything and your exhaust would follow the stock path.

7:47 it's like that so you don't blow out the seals in the turbo.
Before you start the car, I would at least flush out the oil pan a couple of times or drop the pan and clean it out because those metal shavings in there will not be good later on and will save you a huge headache.

7:00 I agree with you ..we wouldn't normally do this.. Use "Quiksteel"(mash it to where you see no color difference *if it feels warm then it's beyond bonding time & use another piece $10 approx* it comes in a tube about 6 inches long has a silverlike label much better for "plumbling under metal strain" I once used it to patch a leaky metal drain that had a quarter sized hole in it..while it was still wet..never leaked again.. Braze weld a threaded brass fitting into it for more professional more solid reliability. If you want to test that weld to make sure it's holding ..use transmission fluid resting in puddle with pan off..for about an hour..come back wipe it with a paper towel on outside "no pink" says it's good..if pink run another pass around it ..check for debris .. I've welded curtain rods to hold water and helium tank fittings.. Use acytene oxygen & no.2- 3 torch fitting ..

@.28 my wife learned this lesson yesterday. Had to drill out a old broken bolt out of a transmission for the mount, then chase the threads. Thankfully it went well but she heard me cursing up a storm lol.
You should bring some of that heat up to Chicago lately the highest been only high 50s low 60s
Evan you should really consider getting a split A/C unit for the garage and just insulate the garage door. Worth it.

Bro you need to take the oil pan off and clean it and also take out the exhaust manifold so you could clock the oil drain to the right spot and the X for the feed oil line you need to turn it more so u can put your oil filter on.
After watching Humble Performance all day. They inspire me to build an all motor K24 with RSX accessories
Put the cap on the oil feed tap where the oil line currently is and have the oil feed line on the top port, oil filter will go on without any issues.

Dont cut corners, remove oil pan and weld it. If you cant weld it or have access to welder..use a bulk fitting with oring. You can buy a -10an oil return bulk fitting with oring on ebay for around $10. Done

You didn't take the oil pan off when you drilled the return line... 🤔 your gonna have to clean out the pan before putting new oil in it.
