Why would she ever assume that? A Few Teenagers show off a severed Head, not to mention with SNAKE HAIR AND SUNGLASSES!
No one in their right Mind would think this is not a Joke-Item!!!

Which is also a line that is in the book.

In the movies:
Percy: *stays underwater for 7 minutes*

I mean, no human can actually do that so it would just give it away to anyone with the slightest bit of common sense. So, not the screenwriters.

“Did this movie just justify an abusive step-father? Man, somebody has daddy issues” considering Chiron’s dad is Pops Kronos the Titan himself (in the books) yeah. Literally every demigod has parent issues
wait this is so tru i didn’t even think about this
Chiron isn't a demigod. khronos isn't a God and Chiron is a centaur
Fathers don't seem to get a lot of good rap in Greek mythology. Like Hercules, in a fit of divine-driven madness, kills his own kids, hence why he has to do the twelve labours to redeem himself. Odysseus puts his baby son, Telemachus, under a plough in order to avoid being pressured to fight in the Trojan war, but then caves in and consequently abandons his son for twenty years. The list goes on.
@@ussinussinongawd516 Kronos is a titan

Okay I actually wanted to point this out:
In the movies they say it’s because he smells “bad” implying that you can just pick any random person so long as they smell bad; in the books on the other hand they say it’s because he smells so disgustingly “human” that he would mask the scent of Percy, which from this I assume means the more morally f*cked you are you are and the more bad of a person you are you smell more “human” (I take all this from gabes character traits ofc) and that making it harder for them to detect any half-bloods or gods around someone so bad smelling. But this is all just a theory where I could be wrong but I feel like this would’ve taken little to effort to just change the phrase bad smelling to human so but whatever person with daddy issues they let get a hold of the script is none of my business
I think they meant that he was able to cover up Percy's scent because of the amount of alchohol Gabe consumes.
Both theories are great
You see how much of a problem this can be for demigods at the beginning of SoN
As someone who read too many Riordanverse books: It's basically the exact same thing they did with Harry Potter- surround him with the stench of filthy muggle.
@@4Bakers Harry Potter wasn’t protected because he was surrounded by muggles. He was protected because he was living with her mother’s sister. If that sister was a witch, it would still have worked. It would have worked with any close blood relative of Lily.
Annabeth is supposed to have “honey-blond hair and gray eyes.” Wtf happened to that?
Also the dam deep tan...
Exactly. Her hair was like a prominent thing in the books. They described her like a hella lot
Don't forget curly.
They tried to fix that in the second one, but clearly by then it was too late, and at that point it was just pointless to give her the blonde hair cause now your like, why was she a burnette in the last one, but now she's blonde?!!
It’s was a garbage fire. The should have called it the Peter Johnson movies and said it was extremely loosely based on Percy Jackson.
A reminder that this adaptation was so terrible that Rick Riordan himself straight-up disowned it and mutes anyone who mentions it.

As a fan of the books, the Garden Gnome Emporium scene, which is one of my favorites, is particularly disappointing because:
1.The use of a cell phone when they're not supposed to use cell phones. Demigods don't typically carry them because they attract monsters. While I have no issue with how they used it, especially on short notice, the correct object to use would be a gazing ball or a polished shield.
2.The fact that Medusa is not visually terrifying enough. The monster is supposed to be frightfully ugly in both hair and face for a very specific reason. It's the whole point. They should've gone crazy with the makeup and let Uma Thurman's talent do the rest.
3.The whole thing with the car. You're right about that. Annabeth came to Camp Half-Blood at age seven, stayed for five years before her first quest, only leaving for a field trip to Olympus, and did not spend it learning how to drive a car. While Annabeth is a quick learner and incredibly intelligent, I still find it hard to believe that she would learn how to drive a car on such short notice with her eyes closed. That whole thing with the car is not only nonexistent in the book, it's also ridiculous.
@KitkatKK2 Yeah, that too

And that makes me hate the movies even more, because there were many times where the mist effect would be pretty awesome. And they just pretended it doesn’t existed and let the humans see the creatures and stuff. And the second movie makes the mist into a “perfume bottle” zzzzz
True but in the movies the mist is just straight up thrown out the window

Hey can y’all calm down with your weird sense of fandom superiority? You’re being kinda rude and driving away well meaning people who were just happy to enjoy a fun movie. It certainly isn’t getting anyone to join your fandom and read the books. :/ Instead of making people feel bad about seeing and potentially the movie, try to intro them to the books through the movie. - In the Capture The Flag scene by the river, Annabeth is serving the same role Clarisse did in the books.
- Annabeth has driven before, in the 4th book, it's revealed that Chariot racing is something common that happens; kinda like friday night bingo with the ladies
- the knockout darts work on monsters because the sedative only affects them and the tips are made of celestial bronze, a kryptonite like substance. that demigod weapons are made from. (This scene is actually in the Sea of monster's book. not the lightning theif)
- The lotus casino is actually a reference to the land of the lotus eaters (which in turn is alluded to in the lightning theif musical)

He's said before that the movie and book universe is different because people who watch the movie and haven't read the book and will ask these questions. So the movie should answer all these question s without the books help. But...true the book explains like everything then this movie's like....no.
One of the rules of CinemaSins: The books (or other source materials) don't matter.
@@mentok1 Every now and then jeremy (the guy behind cinema sins) decides to shit on his rules and does make the books matter (for example in his Winter solider video). Why not for this Video? I only found a single sin in the entire Video, that can not be explained with the books. Only one single sin!!! Apart from that, if he read the books, he could make this a 500+ minute video and every one in the whole world would praise him as the greatest critic in zur Historia of cinematography, heck, I would put a statue of him in my garden if je did that!!!
There are 4 things that piss me off more than anything in this movie
1. Percy is 16 when he was 12 in the book
2. Annabeth doesn’t have blonde hair
3. Grover doesn’t have acne and instead is black
4. PERCY FIGHTS LUKE INSTEAD OF ARES
aidiwbxiwbbkdiqbsjwh
*mental attack*
_dam directors_
Grover actually does have brown hair
I dont think grovers skin colour was ever mentioned, but i haven't imagined him back either...
Also he didnt fight Annabeth in capture the flag he was on her time and fought clarisse and 5 ares canpers plus luke got the flag not percy
Speed Cola Percy fights both of them ares and then he got tricked by Luke and got stung by the pit scorpion
5:36 I love the fact that he took the time to look at the fastest route on Google maps and then sin it for using the slower one 😂😂😂
0:35 I mean, Poseidon is an immortal so 4 1/2 hours might as well be a casual stroll for him.
He is a literal God why would he waste time walking through there?
@@ohitsrusher842 "why would he waste time."
He's. Immortal. He has all the time.
@@booleanillogical4757 But the entire plot of Lightning Thief is about how he needs help his son before a time limit, also doesn't it seem disrespectful to Zeus, who id already mad at him, to show up late?
@@ohitsrusher842 The convo about the missing lightning and the time limit happen at the meeting hes going to, so he didnt have a reason to be in a hurry yet.
@@booleanillogical4757 Oh I'm thinking of how the books went not the movie
we don’t talk about that movie...
Edit: Holy hecking dam why do I have so many likes
I will personally make a movie better then this one. just so you can get eye bleach
This disgrace is to be sent away and never brought up again, and if one does watch it they must read the book once again to forget the terrible memories. *shivers* Dark days..
This disgrace needs to be shoved into Tartarus
-Phhhhft What movie-
W e d o n t t a l k a b o u t i t : )
This happened a few years back. I told my cousin that I watched the movie. A month later she sent me a copy of the book. I eventually knew why.
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!
I love that at 5:36 you even mention that they took a less efficient route to their destination. That is literally the most petty sin ever!!!
the say anything audio clip made this infinitely better
Me, as a kid- "MAN I LOVE THESE MOVIES"
Me, now on the fourth book. "complete *t r a s h* "

Shorroca Flymcaid The Fangirl of Time yet...
I heard it was moving to Disney Plus!
Legit a mood
Then, in all of those sins, no sins about the fact that Persephones is in the Underworld in SPRING?
With how stupid this movie is, were you really surprised at this point in the movie while watching it?
@@joppecaron8898 kinda. If we pretend (with all our will) that this movie isn't based for a book saga... It's actually a neat standalone movie... Of course, by reading the book, I'll say "COME ON! WHAT THE SHIT IS THIS? THIS IS THE BEST YOU CAN DO? EVEN DISNEY WOULD BE ASHAMED OF THIS DISRESPECT FOR THE BOOK (and no, I don't say it because Disney is making the next adaptation, but because Disney is infamously known for butchering books for the sake of """Family friendly""" stories)".
Also, this is a sin that should have been counted no matter what, but apparently, Jeremy it's like this movie: he barely know of the existence of Greek Mythology.
@@joppecaron8898 also, despite everything, in the mythological beast/creatures/gods the movie got everything right. So... Yeah: I am surprised that we didn't got a Cerberus and that Persephone is in the Underworld in Spring.
I thought this too
You mean Cerberus was replaced with three hell hounds and they made hades Satan and they made hades hell and they made hade into that idiot
1:18 I feel this excuse response is common situation in most relationship drama now with his answer/sin being the obvious truthful answer in most of those situations.

More like "You better come take a look at this." Cliché.
These films didn’t do the books justice

You’re more than right. Don’t know if you’ve read the second series as well (Heroes of Olympus I THINK it’s called) but all the books were so fucking good. I believe it was Harry Potter material
It doesn't do Greek mythology justice, either.
Jimenez Greek Mythology is weird so let’s cut them some slack
@@Angi3_6 half if not most of Greek myth isnt child friendly so it's understandable to have shit altered lmao

Elizabeth Lagattuta yep...
0:50 That throne room (on Olympus) is also literally right through the doors next to them (the entrance is at the Empire State Building nowadays). 😂

Holly Hong i do also there not the worse you are and this comment
don't subscribe How is it Wrong They Actully Put Effort In The Movie Do I Care What Others Think? I Was Just Stating My Opinion
@@subjectdeath4816 To be fair, they didn't say that the movie had been produced with little effort or is a bad movie itself (even though that it seems to be from what I've heard). All they said was that it was a bad _adaption_ which so far seems absolutely correct. From what I've read in the comments and heard from friends, the movies messed up most of the story, not only details, but very huge and important twists. And if even the author not oy dislike, bit right away hates the movies, there's got to be reasons.
But, you know. Just stating my opinion.
@@subjectdeath4816 they are saying that if they were closer to the book, it would have been better, maybe even great.
Melinda Melton No They Arnt There Just Saying The Movie Is Crap And Making People Read A Frickin Book
To answer some questions in case some people haven't read the books: Olympus moves with popular belief, essentially it follows Western Civilization, where world super powers are basically, originally it was Greece, and then Rome shared it, then it moved West into America, the Olympus there isn't the real Olympus (that's still in Greece), but more like an exact copy that exists to take it's place
This is absolutely my favorite Everything Wrong With video. Go CHB!
the book: pretty good, interesting plot

To anyone wanting to know why the book and greek mythology fans hate this adaptation so much, check out the video on it by "The Mythology Guy". He explains exactly why the book worked so well and not the movie, and why some of these seemingly "unimportant" from the book are so important to the overall feel and plot. Seriously a cool video if you want to know why the book fans hate the movie
