I recently got a puppy who really nips. I always know when it’s time for bed when she starts biting constantly. It’s neat to have that confirmed.

I had sworn off getting any more pets, not knowing my husband really wanted another dog. Long, interesting story short, I caved. Chloe will be coming in March. We have been watching a lot of your videos as well as others. It's been helpful. We have two cats. My oldest cat has been around dogs before, but the younger one hasn't. It ought to be interesting.

@@ericagibson747 She still bites but is learning not to. Using the tips from the videos we watch seems to be helping. The best tip we found was diverting her attention. We give her a toy in place of biting us. She has one of those toys with a squeaker in it that looks like a Mallard duck. She loves it. She will walk around with that in her mouth for a little bit. If worse comes to worse, we put her in the crate until she calms down. It's getting easier.

The joys of Baby Sharks.....First thing I learned was this, THEY NOW OWN THE HOUSE. Just be thankful they let you spend some time there and pay the mortgage for them. Second, any body parts below the elbows and knees is now theirs. Having said that, here's what me and the Mrs went thru. Mama was always having blood draws and/or numerous body indentations sometimes requiring a tourniquet, whereas I would come out of a play session with no blood exposed. What I saw being the biggest difference between her and I was this- she would abruptly pull her hand back and get rewarded with a big chomp. For me, as mentioned above, I came to realize that my hands now belonged to the baby shark, and would freely offer up my hand to be chewed on. That, along with this one little trick I like to call ''Spider Fingers''. What I mean by that (it is as it sounds) is this.... I would walk my fingers over the snout, under the chin, thru the open mouth right past them little razors. Instead of nipping at me, she would start rolling her head around following the ''Spider'' and actually go straight to ''soft mouthing'' my fingers. It seemed to follow into what is called ''distracting'' them. Is it 100% fool proof??? Oh, hell no, not by a long shot, but it worked for me. I would still highly recommend keeping a tourniquet, numerous bandages, and at least 3 quarts (yes, quarts, not pints) of your favorite replacement blood on hand. And take plenty of pics and video of these puppy days because ( believe it or not) you will miss this phase once they move on to the pterodactyl stage of their existence.

Thanks for the video. I got a puppy 2 weeks ago and he has just turned 2 months. He bites a lot.
Another issue i am facing is potty training, he basicallt does it all over the house. Is it normal?

My 8month puppy bites each time when wants to go outside for a toilet. He pulls my hand and walks me to the door. I just change the way he holds my hand when we start moving so he just politely holds my fingers so it doesn't hurt. That's not quite well thought language contract but we haven't developed anything better yet. Sometimes I swap my hand for a toy or a rope if I have one in range. On one hand I'd rather have him bring a shoe or shoe horn but on the other hand I can guess by the force of bite what kind of business he has - if it's a toilet, or empty bowl, or need to play, or some danger like stranger at the door. What's most interesting he will give up the bite invitation to play if I'm busy and he never abuses or cheats (he observes me first if I'm at work or just being lazy and only interrupts if it's serious stuff). The stronger and persistent bite means something serious. I'm amazed by the interpersonal skill of goldens. The only disadvantage is that they are too energetic (and I got a male to my doom - I wanted a girl but I couldn't resist that poor baby was almost 6 moths and previous to-be-owner changed the mind so I bought him instead because he looked me so hopefully in the eye at the breeder house like we were waiting for each other...)
