Skins Match - Top 4 Women - Valarie Jenkins, Paige Pierce, Sarah Hokom, Catrina Allen

- With 9 Disc Golf World Championship titles among them - the Ledgestone Insurance Open was excited to host an exhibition skins match with the top 4 women disc golfers in the world.
Fresh off her 4th World Title victory just a few days prior we see Valarie Jenkins who is joined by 3 time World Champion, Paige Pierce along with World Champions Sarah Hokom and Catrina Allen.
Format is pretty simple: each hole is worth $50 and if no one wins the hole outright - it carries over to the next hole. They will play 9 holes found at the Northwood Park in Morton, IL and assistant tournament director, Dana Vicich gives us a brief intro.

Val is hilarious on hole 1. lol. "thank you" after hitting the tree.. I hope everyone supports her this year.
Plus, the only one to give Dana some love at hole 1 w/ a high-five. Dana is the freaking dude! If you've ever had any interaction with him, you'll know what I mean. Top class act.
When I was VERY new to disc golf and volunteering at the KC Wide Open, the hubs and I were having dinner at the players party, and this couple was looking for a place to sit. They joined us, and I was just trying to be friendly and welcoming, y'know, like a good host city gal should. The only thing I remember is that they were very cordial, and after I had asked questions like "So, do you golf a lot?" and dinner was over, my husband said "THAT WAS DANA VICICH." with an incredulous look on his face. I was like "so?" We bring it up almost every time we see him in video footage. We often wonder if he remembers "that Wide Open when we had dinner with the girl who had no idea who I was."
Is that Nate Doss I hear cheering for everyone after almost every throw? Loving the positive attitude, seems like a good dude.

23:30-26:00 is the most drama-filled disc golf I've ever seen!
Sequence of events:
-Catrina throws great upshot
-Paige throws bad upshot
-Paige gives speech about ending match with "heroic" putt, claims "we'll see".
-Paige makes heroic putt am-side high
-Catrina's (softer) putt bounces out after hitting high, center chains
-Catrina remarks "[Paige's] catches, and [mine] doesn't?"
-Paige (under her breath near the camera) says "Putt it hard. Karma..."
-Val, after picking up her disc, mouths "Whoa."
-In post-round interview, Paige calls rollers, which Catrina loves to throw, "unneccesary and uncontrollable"
How are the disc golf tabloids not having a field day with this one?
This is the kind of rivalry and character-building that we need for an interesting, successful ESPN production. Kudos on the way you strung that portion together tastefully, Terry.

not my favorite overall, but my favorite newcomer. Bjerkaas' joy for living and for disc golf shows through. as her strength and skill increase to match what is already a very positive mental game, should be a great one... if that is her wish.

actually just watched a video and she said she was 10 when she started! lol still, she is a newcomer to me. I guess since I have been playing since 1979.

Great stuff! Some amazing shots an I'm sure they would beat me 99 out of 100 times. My one suggestion Terry is although I know it would take too much time to equalize volume for the whole vid, but when watching on a computer with decent speakers and the volume turned up to hear what they are saying.... and then BOOOMM!! loud music. no bueno. Thank you sir ;)

Pretty sure that's a 400G D2 from seeing other videos that list her discs as she throws. She has a light purple 400G D2 that seems to be her max distance flex disc.

Cat's a really nice lady off the course and I haven't even seen a hint of bad blood, however, she is *laser* focused when competing and rarely even smiles. Definitely a different attitude than even someone like PP who is just as focused, but allows herself to enjoy her time and have a smile and a laugh.

Why does Madison withdraw the high five for Catrina at the beginning? Cat also only high 5 Hokom as she is on the phone. I'll never be able to support her because of how she comes off as rude... and her uncanny ability to miss 10' putts.
catrina allen is an athlete, not an entertainer. who cares if she smiles or not. ricky wysocki acts the same way during competition, but nobody says he's unfriendly. sexist double standard
