tbh this movie just feels like a big warm hug
Yes it does!
Yep. Massive comfort film, I was honestly just smiling throughout the whole film
That’s Paul king to you! He’s becoming a master of cinema!
You say that what I feel
Yeah, this is the first movie I watch that I actually smile all the way through @@lukegooddy1997
Fun fact: I did NOT realise this was a musical. So it caught me completely off guard when this song started.
Wdym the other two wonka movies were musicals
@@Unworthycolt36I would have been disappointed if it wasn't a musical that's what I remember most about the other 2 movies is the music 🎶
SAME oh it was such a pleasant surprise
Did you see the trailers?
I knew “Wonka” was a musical, and this song still caught me off-guard. Since films usually open with dialogue, even if they are musicals.
Fun fact: the coin wonka dropped in the drain is the same coin that Charlie will find that not only gives him the chocolate bar but also the ticket to enter the factory in the future
:000 that's so sweet 😭😭😭😭💗💗💗💗💗
It’d be weird if that coin was still legal tender all those years later
Yup! It’s the one that was going into a hatful of dreams … but instead it’s fated for Charlie ❤🍫🎫
In the 80‘s version?
Yes I caught that as well! Very nice
Forget the critics, the movie sites, the "experts", and all reviews.
See the movie for yourself. Only your perspective matters.
Personally, I loved every moment of this movie.
Yes, but the critical consensus for this movie is also very positive.
I really love that you've said this
I watched to movie as well and, even though half of it was just songs, the whole movie/musical was amazing
Idk why you’re saying this like the movies being panned…people are generally liking it
These are all so accurate
2:20 When he sings "At last, the Gallerie Gourmet..." is my favorite line of singing in the entire movie. It's just so warm and hopeful. And Chalamet sings it beautifully.
Mine is is:I got nothing to offer but my chocolate! I love the tone how Timothée Chalamet sings ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
My favorite is “it’s everything we dreamed of Mama!”
literally i thought i was the only one
Yes. I love this line, too. Bc it has so hopeful
The entire soundtrack is absolutely amazing. This movie unironically made me feel like a kid again. It was absolute magic.
They made a film that's like no other. (If it were they wouldn't bother.)
“No leave me alone” I love him 😭😭
LOL that part was funny
It was with this song I immediately thought to myself 'if this is the movie I'm going to love it'.
Spoiler alert: I absolutely love this movie!
AAAAAAAAAA SAMEEE ❤❤❤
Me too
Samesies
Same, I went into it thinking it would be alright, but as he sang this song, I just decided that already loved it.
same
So true
We seriously need this as a Broadway show!!!!
Yes we do!
Mind if I write the script?
I could play as that kid who scrubs the shoes
Yes please
yeah
Absolutely incredible movie. My favourite song from it, fully lets you know what you're in for right from the get go
As soon as he started the first song. I was like im all in. Perfection
Indeed !!
@@quinnprincess After this song, I immediately:
-I finally have my favorite role of T. Chalamet
-One of my favorite songs in this movie
-and I loved the movie itself
My girlfriend and I just saw this movie last night and we were both pleasantly surprised when this musical number started to play. I went into this movie with moderate expectations but it blew me away with its fantastic soundtrack, amazing characters and comedy. Hopefully Timothee Chalamet does more musicals in the future cuz he has an incredible singing voice
I saw it with my girlfriend too!
@@sylvanmoneySame here …odd
After this song, I immediately love the movie
One of the greatest opening's of all time
comparable even to the greatest showman
@@Dante-hd4pf I never seen Greatest Showman
@@PrimalElf you've missed out
SAMEEEEEEE I WAS LIKE SO HAPPY AT THE START
ok but timothée’s voice was just so soothing and so nice to listen to!!
"No, leave me alone. 😢" Has gotta be my favorite line of this whole song
So true!
And sadly realistic as that's exactly how some shoeshines behaved in some places.
@@CouchSpud91Tbf he was only a child and was likely very poor
@@nationalinstituteofcheese3012 True, but the smug grin the kid had when he did the second shine (from Wonka dropping the pumpkin) showed he knew what he was doing by tricking Wonka into a second sovereign.
Timothee doesn’t have a bad singing voice! Or dancing skills. A vanishing breed of triple threat. And after viewing the movie yesterday, I have to say Wonka has the most peppy soundtrack of a musical WB has put out since Smallfoot!
i ageee, small foot soundtrack hit hard and it was amazing
@@KENNYAMARIS The movie was beautiful! SF’s best bops are Wonderful Life and Moment of Truth
I've wanted to hear this song since I heard a snippet when they first filmed wonka in bath. It sounds so wonderful, I love timothee singing voice, his voice is just beautiful❤️😊💯
Why this song has so meaningful lyrics. My favourite one now, Timothée Chalamet just nailed it. I didn't had any expectations of the movie, but it amazed me. Paul King had did a fantastic job
neil hannon and jody talbot deserve an award for this movie. i went into this movie alone and down but the opening scene already put a smile on my face, even when i went to watch it for a second time with friends. it's so hard to find such infectiously joyful music. thank you both for the gift.
If they dont win something, we riot. And I'll get all the ferals, strays, and trash pandas i call friends to join in
I'm so glad they connected this story to Gene Wilder's film. From the little melody of "Pure Imagination" leading into this in the opening credits I was sold!
I wasn't very enthusiastic when my girlfriend asked me to go see this with her daughter on opening night. I left loving the film more than them!! 😍
Do you know what I love about this is that it's a prequel. It's its own story that stands alone and its own unique music that no one's ever heard! There are way too many remakes lately when this movie just gave us an entire soundtrack of completely different songs. And I am so obsessed with it
same in watching this when it comes to amazon prime
I love Wonka (2023). I watched it yesterday and I must say it's a heartwarming Christmas family movie 🎄❄️🎅☃️ Timothee's singing voice is also cool and soothing.
How is it a Christmas movie
@@Galaxxymeeps It was released just before Christmas for families to watch at Christmas and is clearly set during mid winter as there is snow on the ground for the entire movie.
@@martinmitchell7280 but it has nothing to do with christmas just because a movie realseses in december doesnt mean its a christmas movie unless it actully has something to do with christmas
not really christmas movie since it has both to do with christmas it's about chocolate
even tho it was released around Christmas but it isn't really Christmassy
Had pretty low expectations for this movie. And now I’m here listening to the soundtrack with a dumb smile on my face.
Same
I love evry wily wonka movie and song
Every Song is 24carat GOLD , the detail in each song , the way they sound just leaves you wishing it would never end. A classic is born
Wow, his singing skills are amazing, i didnt know that. I'm very impressed!
I remember someone filmed Timothee Chalamet when he sang this song. I'm looking forward seeing Wonka next week
Oh my gosh, I watched the same thing a year ago.
Quick question: is anyone else obsessed with the little theme song that plays at the very beginning of this song that you hear throughout the movie? The little 16 beat whistle tune? Because I love it so much it's brilliant
I could have sworn I'd heard it before, it sounds so memorable!
I like how "Pure Imagination" transitions into this..
To be fair, you can hear a few notes of Pure Imagination throughout the movie. Seems to keep you on your toes and anticipate whether or not it'll be sung.
This movie is one of my favorite, pure magic. Timothée really surprised me with this song because I didn't know that he can sing and his voice is very sweet 🥰❤
*Hats* off to Neil Hannon. This song could grace any West End stage as the opening number. Superb.
Agreed!
I love Timothée Chalamet’s singing voice, it is so beautiful
This movie was so much better than I had expected it to be. A real treat.
I don't mind watching this movie 20 times 😂❤
This movie deserves Oscars
I just came back from the theaters. This movie slapped
“The prices are suspiciously extremeeee” got me 😂 tbh the entire song, scratch that, movie was amazing ❤
Give an Oscar to this movie and man
And also, give an Oscar to Neil Hannon, who contributed most songs to this movie.
I've been a fan of The Divine Comedy for years, and Neil is its frontman known for his knack for writing fantastic tunes.
Timothee chalamet sing voice is so incredibly smooth and I hope he does more musicals
Sometimes I feel like critics go too deep into a movie's true meaning, and miss the actual point of the movie. To be a fun and wonderous adventure.
I agree. A simple heartfelt movie like this deserves critics praise as well
3:47 this song was a great opener, but it was Wonka having a heart of Gold right there that got me hooked to the story.
Such a great way to introduce a character in a prequel movie.
(SPOILERS) But when the movie started with this song, I just died inside. I've never watched a movie in a theatre before, nor have I finished charlie''s chocolate factory by roald dahl so when this movie started with a musical I just knew this had to be a hit! AND IT WAS!
It was the last movie I saw in 2023 and it is the first one I saw again in 2024. This song made me feel like that child in 1996 watching Toy Story for the first time.
i love how timmy incorporated the original gene wilder move on the steps near the end of this song, it was such a nice touch
His voice is so calming 😢
Solo con esta presentación del personaje, ya merece la pena el Oscar. Que buena película! Necesitamos mas cine como este!!
This song reminded me of when I first moved to New York a long time ago (against the advice of everyone I knew including my family) with little in my bank account and the dream of making it in the Big Apple. As I sat in the theater years later on 19th and Broadway with a successful business, property, money in the bank all the accoutrements of success. It brought a tear to my eyes, not because of the money I never cared much about that but because I had achieved something that was all my own. My childhood dream and achieving it without losing my child at heart soul in the process. This is a wonderful film and soundtrack, I always loved the book as a child (and Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator) and fortunately was able to buy the first edition of the 1964 book a few years ago as a present to myself. I'm so happy that this film was made and can serve as an inspiration to the young and young at heart around the world.,
bro ur life could be a movie wth😭 thats so cool congrats!
Could you spare a Sovereign for a place to sleep love?
This is one of my favorite movies. It changed my life and encouraged me to do better and be a better person in life and be positive. Thank you, Paul King, for your wholesome movies. ❤❤
Best and most loveable Wonka
I cannot understand how some people don't like this movie
Yea how can they hate it
For all we know, they probably never even saw Gene Wilders film😑
This is literally the opening credits 😄
I didn’t expect it
Ik
There's like 16 songs on tye movie lol
The
Really joyful movie, like with the direction of King and wonderful cast, this movie was such a breeze to watch and a delight!
Tough to find a movie like it in these crazy times
@@manuelorozco7760 Indeed.
@@TheRealClankZoka COVID has left me tough to impress. I’ve grown bitter about the state of Hollywood and less impressionable. But I knew this movie would be worth it
@@manuelorozco7760 Well it is a Hollywood movie of sorts but still feels like a UK movie even though it is a UK production as well, but I’m glad to hear it!
@@TheRealClankZoka I know that
This movie made me cry so much for some reason! 😭😭 It's so beautiful and amazing 🥲🙏
Dude same.
The movie just has all the magic and charm that made me feel like a kid again. I miss those years.
"got a little map"
Wait, he can't read!
2:17 *“L-Leave me alone!”*
Neil Hannon, take a bow, sir! 👏🤎
I actually never heard of him until this movie
didn't expect much before watching this movie, but once this song starts i know i'm gonna love it and i did !! the wholesomeness and warmth and joy i got from the film is beyond i imagined. bravo the team and timmy
This song has been stuck in my head since I heard it, well done on this prequel
Took my wife and two kids to the cinema for this. I didn't expect to like it so much. Looking for the vinyl soundtrack. The music is nothing short of excellent.
100/100 ost.
Do not listen to any critics and see this refreshing film/musical, you will not regret it.
Silence to those who didn't watch the whole movie because "it's not an og" "it's not Depp". They literally missed these bangers
I’m 45 and the bit at the end when wonka got to see his mom for the first time forever and some one walked through his mom I was crying 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I felt so sad 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😭😭😭😭
La version française est tellement puissante. Je passais un mauvais moment dans ma vie et elle m'a redonné de l'envie et de l'espoir, j'ai eu envie d'avoir des rêves.
Played this song at the airport as I was going for vacation. It gives you that weird feeling of a brand new start. Even though this was not my first time flying OR taking a vacation!
Fun Fact: I watched Wonka a few hours earlier. And the best part? I'd eaten chocolate a few hours earlier!
It IS a song about travel and journeying to a new destination, so it makes sense! (Don't forget to take enough money, though!)
Absolutely loved this film!
I really enjoyed this Wonka movie and i give it a 9 out of ten
I would give it more 8/10
I expeted more like 7/10 but finally I got a second biggest suprise of this year. For me this is masterpiece.
13/10😌
1000/10 ❤
9/10
this movie was just an instant holiday classic 💖
My favorite movie ❤😊
this movie is WONDERFUL
I genuinely loved this movie. The characters were all endearing. The songs were all hits. I was not sure if i would like them. But this movie was knocked out of the park
One of the best movies ive seen in a while
I waited so long to hear the official version of this song
"here's my destiny i just need to unlock it. will i crash, burn or go up like a rocket, i got nothing to offer but my chocolate and hatful of dreams" - wonka (part of lyrics)
I absolutely loved this movie. Saw it twice already!
Absolutely positive feeling after this song and film
It’s been so long since I’ve been happy watching a movie in the theater. This movie was so sweet and gave me the exact same feeling when I watched Paddington for the first time. I love it!!!
I went into this movie in an absolutely foul mood and came out with a smile!
it was so magical to hear this start playing in theatres, i love the theory that wonka's last silver sovereign is the coin that charlie finds in the book.
THIS IS AO COMFORTING I COULD CRY
SAAAMMMMEEEEEE
THIS IS INCREDIBLE
1:57 why is this so accurate 😂
This song gives me warm and fuzzy vibes 🥰
I love this song soooooo much 😍😍😍😍😍😍
1:55 the violon 🤩🤩
Love the "oh so much more~" part very much!
This was a fantastic way to start to the film. I loved it. :D
看完電影就像吃了一塊Wonka巧克力,驚奇好玩又美味
To the people who want more Wonka-like movies: Both Paddington movies are awesome!!
the only musical where i enjoyed every second of every song
2:39-2:52 is straight 🔥
I Saw this movie Yesterday now can't get this Wonderful Song out of my Head Lyrically and Musically so Brilliant and sung telling the story Beautifully and Such Emotion come on give this song an OSCAR baci x
Upbeat and original. A beautiful masterpiece for a beautiful movie.❤
GREAT SONG + WHAT A GREAT MOVIE. The "experts" who said the movie was weak were SO SO WRONG. BEST MOVIE OF 2023
Critics thrive on negative criticism, and though they are forbidden to say it on the internet I bet they secretly love the movies they say bad stuff about
The rise and pure tone when he sings "the Gallery Gourmet" is TOP NOTCH
Right?? I love that part, no wonder why they left that beautiful part when he reaches the gallery
Wonka is the first movie i went to watch alone and it's a big deal bc i never go out and do stuffs alone. just me, Wonka and our dreams 🥺🥺
This song was a Banger to start off the movie Timothee gotta get an Oscar
I love this movie and all the songs
My favorite musical movie🩷💘🍫
I love this a LOT
2:38 - 3:00 I just love that part
Best movie ever
I wasn't crazy about this soundtrack/movie at first but now it's my happy movie tbh. So wholesome. We needed this.
Every song in this movie is amazing
