One of the greatest most jubilant locker room celebrations ever recorded!!!...."now we bring those damn "bleeping" Cowboys next!!!"......hilarious!!!I wish more teams would call each other out today. That was the spirit of true rivalries in the NFL....loved George Allen!!
My uncle played for the Skins from 66-75, and I began following them at 8 in 68. To experience this as an early youth is something I wish all fans could have. Meeting Larry Brown in STL, hearing of eccentric Coach Allen, shaking Vince Lombardi's hand and watching him block Bob Lilly on the long touchdown to Charley Taylor, to much to mention here. I could go on all day. He was no. 62 Ray Schoenke and I always go back and forth looking for little details. I admit it, it's a little sick, but I had a good time.
If you look closely in the opening sequence of Allen and the others running onto the field you will see Hall of Famer Marv Levy (Allen’s Special Teams Coach)
yep. CZcams had a 15 minute time limit for videos when I made this so had to edit it down. I'm a longtime Raider fan going back to 1972 but Larry Brown was my favorite RB back then and that Skins team was magical. They had their chances to upset the Dolphins in the Super Bowl especially when the goal post, on the field then, robbed them of a TD.
10:52 Sam Wyche, backup QB for the Redskins, later coach of the Cincinnati Bengals, where he would utter his famous quote, "You don't live in Cleveland, you live in Cincinnati!"
That’s funny as hell!!! He’s also the holder... number 18 in the shot of the kick. I’ve always thought he got his coaching style of motivation from Allen and his offensive attack from Walsh.
Yes Allen only won 2 playoff games and lost the super bowl . He still won over 70% of his coached games . I think that is a record . He was a great coach

Once you hear John Facenda's voice, you miss hearing these kinds of voice-over and announcers. Same goes for news programs before everyone turned their jobs into their own personal comedy shows. Sports and news programs are not comedy farces. This stuff is real.
Well we all know SB 7 was a fluke. Kilmer hit the GP on one play, and Taylor slipped near the end zone on another play. Sometimes the better team doesn't win, just the team with the better breaks, but I regress
Look at the rejection of them losing!!!!!! You have losing teams having their guys cracking jokes after getting their asses handed to them nowadays. Mediocrity is acceptable, even with the ultra high salaries.
Unfortunately Allen only won 2 playoff games!! And was dismissed in the first round or didn't make the playoffs at all!! I'll never forget the time the cowboys swept the redskins in 77 which I thought was impossible!!! Rip Dan Reeves!
Yea they usually split their games, and with Dallas getting the sweep cost them a playoff berth. Also I've never really seen many if any highlights from the 77 game in Wash. but there's a play where Calvin Hill fumbles the ball and Dallas recovers and no Replay back then. Had their been Wash. would have kept the ball and who knows what might have happened. Go Skins!!
Does'nt show what really happened, but this was as brutal ( and unessesary ) hit you'll see. Brown was already across the goal line and he looked away for a sec .He let up and started his high stepping.... Big mistake !! The defender covering Charley Taylor saw this, snuck up and just unloaded around the crotch/upper leg 1:23. Here trying to get back to the sidelines afterwards 1:39
Love Roy Jefferson one of the most underrated receivers from the late 60's into the 70's.
larry brown ........ one of the toughest ...... best runners ....pound for pound ....ever in the nfl ........thanks john for this video

My hero George Allen
I loved that 26-3 beatdown the Redskins put on the Cowboys in the NFC Championship Game.
P.S. Larry Brown and Billy Kilmer: MEN.
threeby8887 .....and this Dallas team were the defending champions 🏈⭐️
threeby8887 ..indeed 💪💪🏈 ..and @10:00 that was the Best pass Billy ever threw in his career ! To the HOF Charlie Taylor ⚡️
They weren't doing too much celebrating two weeks later...
Then they had nothing left for the Dolphins 🐬 in the Super Bowl 2 weeks later

great info Tom. I spotted your uncle in 3 short clips in this vid. He's blocking for Kilmer on a Roy Jefferson TD catch at 6:51.
Ray Schoenke, Remember him very well.
"Just remember this, forty men, together, can't lose!"
The over the Hill Gang those were the days.

The full version is one of the best videos ever produced by NFL Films. The action, the music and John Facenda's legendary voice.

LOL. That was funny. He flipped out on the Cinninnati fans getting roudy.
TheRetro64 ⭐️Absolutely! He was a great coach 🏈 1988 ....⭐️

This is a John Facenda classic
That hit on Kilmer at 4:37. Dang, that hurts just to watch!!
Today those players who tackled him would get fined and prison time.....
Well remember the Redskins had Chris Hanburger.... there's a reason they called him the Hangman
Talk about an era of concussions.
Love the days when good RBs made QB money & were recognized as MVP candidates. And love the days when fans could afford game tickets.
7:07 TWO Hall of Famer's Roy Jefferson and Charlie Taylor!
Brings tears to my eyes. "Die you dogs, die." The greatest football victory of my lifetime.
awesome
George allen was a great. Football coach brought in veterans to win and he did win veterans want dings rookies want money
Love NFL films

Great clip!! #HTTR
Reminds me of Pittsburgh Steelers Qb in the 70s Joe Gilliam

Then they met a team called 17-0.
And beat the Dolphins at RFK 18 months later.

Wonder if Green Bay had played San Francisco or San Francisco had played Washington for the NFC title

When the Skins lost it was like the death of a family member. Heads would roll. Pro Bowlers were benched.
Unfortunately they forgot there was one game left!!!! Superbowl VII. Were the dolphins sought out larry brown and punished him.
As perfect a pass as you'll see 6:51
8:13 young Bruce Allen in the white shirt next to his father...

bob lillys worst game roger staubach's worst game. Alleluia!!
Ramskins
When football was a man game
One of Staubach's worst games.
I though Roger stauback bad games only came against 1970s Pittsburgh steelers
In that game they should have started Craig Morton , Staubach hardly saw any action that year because of an injury in preseason
