    Welcome back to Aurora Tech Channel. There are quite a lot of new 3D printers flooding the market this year, most of them being Cartesian bed slingers. Personally, I prefer to have a box frame with CoreXY kinematics as it provides smoother motion on the X and Y axis and a more stable Z-axis compared to a bed slinger, as its print bed only moves up and down.
    Today, I will review the Flying Bear Reborn 2, which is a CoreXY with linear rails on the X and Y-Axis and linear rods on the dual Z-axis. The timing belt on the CoreXY axis is 10mm instead of the regular 6mm you see on most 3D printers, and all stepper motors on the X,Y and Z axis are 0.9 degrees instead of the standard 1.8 degrees. The print volume is 325*325*350mm, and it has a dual-gear direct drive extruder with a 1:7.5 gear ratio. The maximum nozzle temperature is 350C, it has a dual-part cooling fan and it uses an AC-heated glass bed. It’s a fully enclosed printer with 3 plastic boards on all 3 sides, a set of acrylic doors, and an insulation tent on top.
    It runs an MKS Nano 6 motherboard with TMC2209 silent stepper drivers, a 3.5-inch touch screen, and inductive limit switches on the X, Y, and Z-axis. Flying Bear claims that this printer can print at a maximum of 150mm/s with a normal printing speed of 80mm/s with 1500mm/s² acceleration. Overall, for around $500, the specs of this printer look pretty good. I would like to thank Flying Bear for sending me this machine to review, and with that, let’s get started.

    What would be cool is if you did an upgrade video. Frist with just adding a bltouch and new fw. And then an ultimate upgrade video the bltouch and klipper install.

      For me, my go to printers are BambuLab X1C and FLSUN V400, just because they print fast. When they are in use, I will use Creality(S1, S1 Pro, S1 Max or CR-10 Smart Pro, or any Creality that uses a Sprite extruder) or Prusa (MK3S+, Mini+). Not inductive, but optical switches. Revert step per mm to 800 as that's the correct value. Height error likely comes from first level thickness (adjust z-offset), or from garbage on the last layer. Print a part with skirt or brim and measure brim thickness afterwards. It should be the same as your first layer height. Irregularities on the top layer could be caused by over-extrusion. Print a solid object but slice with single wall and 0% infill, then measure actual wall thickness and adjust extrusion multiplier - this is filament specific unfortunately so repeat for each new spool.

    Outstanding work as always. This printer seems like a solid value. These days it seems like Klipper and bed level sensors should be standard and I'd definitely use larger extrusion if I were designing a printer myself but all these changes would increase the cost as well. It'd be really interesting to see an end-of-the-year comparison vs other printers in the same price range.

  • @tomsalzl6593
    @tomsalzl6593 Před rokem

    I am a Fan. I often use a wood chisel not the putty knife to loosen bed and prints with care, unless glass. Also on bed leveling, if I want a little more squish to the bed surface I preheat the nozzle and us a thermal print paper from a grocery or general store receipt paper. The paper turns black and pulls a nice width as I pull it out from between the 2 surfaces. Often not having to use any adhesives. But glue stick and (Aqua Net - tried others with poor results) hair spray are used if need be. Washing the hair spray with water cleans it well. And Alcohol/air heat gun to clean any other surface adhesives if needed. Oh had to use a heat gun and a chunk of FDM to remove the print material on a textured surface when the first layer was to tight. Learned the hard way...

    Hi aurora! I love your channel, I’m one of the silent viewers that follows you but almost never comments. I bought this 3d printer (which I didn’t know it came out) because of you, tomorrow it will be here. I was searching an alternative to the Voron Trident, as I don’t have the time to build it, and also since 3d printing it’s only an hobby, I didn’t want to spend more than double I payed for the Reborn 2 (I got it for 450€, which i think it’s a really nice deal). I think adding auto bed leveling and Klipper would make it a very good machine. Have you some plans to do an upgrade series on this machine? Big extrusion gears! A nice feature. However the extruder is plastic.
    Thick glass bed is great. It should be easy to level. You can simply put a PEI sheet on top, and lose 5mm in Z, which is not a problem. 330mm^2 PEI is hard to find though.

    I do not know if you can give some suggestions but I have little trouble making reborn 2 working with klipper. All apparently look fine and homing works well. but when I try to move the axis Y or X independently, they instead move together, as result the toolhead movement is fault. I've checked stepper motor directions in the print.cfg and all seems OK. Also, with the original marlin firmware cinematic works perfectly, so i'd exclude any mechanical issue. would you have any clue? thanks!

    I know this is a strange place to ask, but I got the Reborn 2 this weekend as my first CoreXY. Everthing seems to work fine, but I'm confused by one thing and couldn't find an answer so far.
    I get a noisy resonance when the head is moving on the Y-Axis. The movement on the X-Axis is clean. I can even feel the difference when moving the head by hand. As the gantry was pre built I have no idea what to look for.
    Maybee loosen the screws where the gantry is mounted on the Z beams and retighten it? My thought here is, that there might be to much force on the gantry on the sides.

  • @MisterDeets
    @MisterDeets Před rokem

    Would love to see videos detailing the mods you make to this machine going forward. It looks to be a solid platform for modding into an even more capable machine than it already is.
    Have you considered converting to one of the BTT pro boards with TMC 5160 48v drivers? You can get a buck converter to drop the 48v power supply down to 24v to run the fans, hotend, CPU etc. 48v would give a significant performance boost to everything including the extruder. which would be needed to keep up with the added speed. Going 48v on a bed flinger seems like a waste, but on this machine with that beefy belt, it seems like just the ticket. Just be sure to get the high voltage versions of those drivers instead of the neutered variety... Couple that with a Klipper install with input shaping etc and you will have an absolute beast of a printer.

    nice price, I would start with a magnetic springsteel sheet on top of the glass though. I can only find a 310mm x 310mm sheet.

    Seems like a lot of printer for the money. Not Voron speed but at less than 1/3 the final cost it seems like a great deal. Misses a few small points but gets the major ones very well and seems to print very well.

    Hello could you share cura profiles? And printer setting screen shot?

    Today unless the printer is Klipper enabled they are too slow.
    Also, slicers like Orca run seamless with Klipper.
    Thanks tor your efforts.
    Cheers.

    Looking to get a decent 3d printer on Black Friday so wondering what would be best. This or the magician pro?

    May I ask your opinion for an optimal printer & user friendly CAD system for production parts? Part will be made from nylon carbon fiber & the parts are smaller than the size of 3 poker chips stacked? I will array on table multiple parts at once.
    LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!
    Thanks!

    nice video! how about doing a low cost Bambu X1Carbon alternative video? Enclosed. Core XY only, high temp, at least 256 cubed or larger, great print quality and not terribly slow, is there a good alternative to save some money? perhaps also compare the mosaic palette to the AMS on the bambu to explore pros and cons of each.

    @Aurora Tech, looking at the firmware, it uses a PT1000 from E3D, which is rated for 500C. That's why it's so high in the firmware, really it should be 515 because of the thermal max, or with your change, 365. NOt sure about the bed, though. I bought one from their Ali store since it was cheaper during the 11.11 sale + Rakuten than what's linked. Will look at the bed when I get it

    Another great video. Thank y'all.
    Question. Is there an easy way to tension the belts on this machine?

    • @AuroraTech
      @AuroraTech  Před rokem +1

      No, like most other CoreXY printers, you need to cut the belt and re-tighten it to adjust tension.

      @@AuroraTech well I can't deduct any points since it's the same way everywhere we look. But it would have been nice.

    Great review Aurora, can you also please review the Flying Bear Aone 2 3D Printer? 😊

      I will be reviewing a similar one, the Kingroon KP3S Pro in December, but we may not have time to review their Aone 2 as our schedule is overloaded.

    I received a reply from a CZcamsr in the U.K. on a comment I left on his video. He said the Ender S1 was a real BED SLINGER. I didn't know what that meant until I saw this video of Aurora using the same term. Now I get it. :)

      it's a STM chip so it should be. Also it seems to be using a Pt1000 or 100, could definitely have the hotend temp at 400 ish
