- A huge shout-out to all Kishoreda fans. This is another live performance of our beloved guru from his concert at BBC Pebble Mill Studios, Birmingham,UK around 1972. The Lord himself in action giving us a glimpse of some of the highest standards of singing with this majestic piece composed by u-knw-who (Pancham@Burmans). Unfortunately the video is not in best of its quality(VHS tapes) as i do not own it but a heads up to anyone who owns or can restore this footage in HD.
Small tidbit - to those who do not know - that is Amit Kumar (dark trousers) sitting down beside his father playing the rattle percussion.

Kishore da is the definition of God’s gift. Every other singer can work hard, practice and better their skills but no one has and will ever reach Kishore Da’s perfection as he was literally blessed with pure, natural talent.

My goodness, this is live singing? Sounds just like the original. That tells you how refined his voice really was. Otherwise these days when a singer performs his/her own songs live, it sounds as though some other singer is singing it!

Yes absolutely correct and I was also wondering that when I can see any comment where one would say that this is not live singing but background recording. With due respect to all the singers whom I also like as well, Kishore Kumar's voice is absolutely unique, of course it's my personal opinion

Kishore was certainly a multi faceted artist. As he says he was not a trained musician but someone who sang by listening. The throw of his voice is amazing. This is one of those songs where he showed that he could even sing a soft melody when he is generally associated with loud rock like songs. Lovely to listen to this ever green classic.

Who knows had he been today and active. Coke Studio would have been shaken 🙌🏽 perfect for the mahol … my Dad and people of that era who heard him said he knew what exactly the audience wanted to hear.. can you imagine he sung the songs of the Hindi movie Mr India starring Anil Kapoor and Sridevi. Amrish Puri in one of the Lahren interview had said Kishor Da himself said he was not his best level. It was his closing ending days as well. Amrish Puri saab was shocked. All he felt was jab best nahi feel kar rahe the tab aisa gaana gaya jo logo ke dilon par cha gaya. Ke aaj bhi jab Sridevi ko Mr India ke sensual wale avatar mein log imagine karte hain toh Kishor Da ke hi gaana chalte hai mann / feeling ke background mein. Imagine him at his best 🤷🏽♂️🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

What an effortless live performance. He was genius and singing mastreo. He was way ahead of his times. He is the only one who is liked most even by today's young generation. R D Burmen told in interview that Lata and Asha used to be very careful while singing with Kishore since he had ability to dominate co singers vide his singing. Kishore was unbeatable. Only he was male singer who was on top till his death.

What a load of utter bullshit. Kishore was a good singer yes, and sang very accurately for an amateur, but he was not trained classically, he came into the pop music scene as an amateur. Lata and Asha had amongst the best training India could offer, and they were born with unlimited talent too. Their singing is 20,000 leagues above Kishore in every way imaginable. Vocal clarity, hitting the right pitch down to 0.0001 of a note, incredible harqatein (especially Lata), whereas Kishore had almost no harqat ability at all; Kishore never sang very complicated songs. Listen to Asha's songs in Umrao Jaan. Listen to Lag Ja Gale by Lata, or a hundred other very complex melodies she recorded, and see if you can find even one Kishore song that came close to it in complexity or musical sophistication.
Kishore was a brand name, first and foremost. Like David Beckham. Was Beckham the best footballer ever? Or even of _his_ time? No way. He was great, but Zidane and Rivaldo could make mincemeat of him. Yet he is far more famous and has way more fans than either of them. It's the same with Kishore and Lata/Asha. You make up most of this bullshit, stories of his greatness in your heads, mainly based on who said what, rumours etc; You're not really listening to the music. You just think you are. If you concentrated on the music you wouldn't give a shit about what RD Burman said or who the young generation likes. It's all irrelevant. We have a musical tradition in India, and that does not depend on RD Burman, a pop music champion. That's like saying Michael Jackson is the authority on Western music because he is the biggest seller and the most famous. You will be slave to rumour forever. Because _you_ don't really know.

Shushanto Bose Sir there is something in his voice which is magical whether it requires training or not or whether there is modulation in his voice or not yet a born singing genius doesn't requires complicated songs to sing his talent makes simple songs impossible to recreate in the similar fashion in what he does no not even lata having shrill voice doesn't mean she is above all

I didn't say her having a shrill voice makes her above all. Her hitting every note as accurately as any other human being in history is what makes her above all.
Her voice sounds "shrill" because the terrible recording technology in 1970s India made it sound like that. Also as singers get older their voice starts to sound more shrill because their voice box can't handle the effort of singing so accurately. The closer to the note one hits, the more the energy transmitted. Therefore the more the energy used. It puts stress on the larynx.
Singing more complicated songs _all_ the time may not make one more popular, but the _ability_ to sing a more complex melody certainly does make one a better singer than one who is _unable_ to do so. That is simply an objective fact. Having more skill means one is better at their trade than one who has less skill. It's quite simple reasoning really.
That "magic" you speak of is your personal appeal for the sound of his voice. I also like the appeal of certain voices. For instance I like the silvery sound of Udit Narayan, but that doesn't give me the right to say he is better than those who don't have that particular appeal, simply because I like that quality in him.
Popularity has nothing to do with ability. In fact, before I learned more about music, I used to say some of the same things as her critics do. The shrill-Ness criticism was certainly one of them. But I now realise that it was simply out of ignorance. The same goes for many of her fans. In fact the vast majority have absolutely no idea why she's so great, they just go With the flow. Everyone else says so, so she must be. That's utterly the wrong reason for being a fan and I don't condone it any more than I condone Kishore's diehard fans.
One must learn to be objective before they compliment a vocalist, just as much as before criticising one.

The studio song and this live concert singing are exactly identical... Mindblowing!!! In todays time you can't even autotune this song 😂....There is no scope of improvent here... The legend put all heart and soul to this song... We miss him dearly...
