I don't know if this is considered a obvious question or not but no one seems to give a straight answer to this question. Everyone says you cannot sell your book to another retailer and they say that it had to be exclusive to KDP select, but they don't explain if you can post your book in other means. For example, patreon. I have seen several people post chapters on their patreon and yet they are still in Kindle Unlimited. I also seen people post the full book on websites like their own. My question is, is the book only exclusive to Kindle Unlimited? Can you put it anywhere else or it's only about selling the book?
People do all sorts of things they shouldn't do, so this is why I'm making sure.
While I'm not a lawyer, i believe that Amazon's terms for KDP Select prohibit direct sales or distribution of eBooks from an author's site. However, it's possible that previews or chapters are allowed to be distributed. I would recommend contacting Amazon for clarification.
"1 Exclusivity. When you include a Digital Book in KDP Select, you give us the exclusive right to sell and distribute your Digital Book in digital format while your book is in KDP Select. During this period of exclusivity, you cannot sell or distribute, or give anyone else the right to sell or distribute, your Digital Book (or a book that is substantially similar), in digital format in any territory where you have rights."
