Let Me Down Slowly | Complete Crowfeather Weekend MAP

- It's here! crowboy has arrived!
The narrative of this map explores crowfeather's relationship with death, and grief. His father died before he could be apprenticed, and his mother lost a litter of three before he was born. He's prickly and antagonistic, with his mother deputy after his father who was also deputy, he has so much to prove, and Feathertail takes pity on this poor angry kid, and starts to help pull him out of his shell. But just when he starts to trust, to feel like its okay to care about people, she dies- right in front of him. She jumps and he reaches for her but there's nothing he can do, and then, she's gone.
The next time we see him here, its after the great battle with the dark forest. His mother, Ashfoot is dead, and he's so grief stricken, but has no one to turn to, no shoulder to cry on, because he's pushed everyone away. He turns to Nightcloud and asks her to please help him, and she does pity him, for all his flaws, she wouldn't wish this kind of suffering on anyone, but she can't keep setting herself on fire to keep him warm, and she turns away. Crowfeather is left reeling- he feels like he's watching a train wreck in slow motion. "Why am I so mean? Why do i push everyone away? Why can't I be nicer to people? Why can't I be better?" He doesn't blame Nightcloud for turning away because he knows she's right- he hasn't been good to her, and he doesn't know why. He can see all his flaws, he knows what he does and just can't stop himself and can't understand why.
He runs and runs and runs, falling through all his grief and memories and trauma, past every death that has shaken him, his father, the siblings he never met, Breezepelt's two littermates, his mentor, his mother, feathertail, his daughter Hollyleaf, and when he lands, he's a kid again, back in the cave that stormy night behind a waterfall, and when Feathertail crouches down to leap at the stalactite, this time he jumps first. In the final shot we see him as an adult watching sadly, because this isn't real. It's him realizing, finally, that he never moved past this moment, never left that cave. He's still stuck there in the flash of lightning before she leapt, unable to trust, to let anyone in ever again. Whoever jumped that night, years ago, they both died there.

The MAP is beautiful, but Crowpaw was stuck in a crevice close to the floor of the cave; he could never have taken Feathertail's place, it's just impossible. I'm not criticizing, though...but there's no way Crowpaw could have made that jump instead of Feathertail

This is truly amazing, I love his final moment of realization, and it really begs the question "What would have happened if Crowpaw had jumped instead of Feathertail?"
Breezepelt wouldn't have been born, and Stormfur probably wouldn't have joined the Tribes, either that or he and Feathertail would have joined the Tribes together.

I think Crow does deserve alot of credit. Sure, he was a jerk alot of times. But he really lived a tough life

I love Crowfeather, what he did to Nightcloud was wrong and his reason could have been better but he’s still such a amazing cat, I hope he becomes leader. He’s relatable to me in a way. He’s lost so much and is drowning in his sorrows and anxiety and depression and frets he’ll never escape. Dear Lord, these fictional cats making me emotional

When I read the first new prophecy book, I loved Feathertail, she was my favorite and I loved the ship between Crowpaw and Feathertail. But when the second book came, I felt crowpaw.. I was sobbing, so this is really meaningful to me, Thanks.

I feel like I've related to crowfeather more than any other character in warriors..all his pain is very relatable to me.. I can act a bit heartless sometimes and I gonna admit that I shut others out beacuse I just wanna run away from my problems... I can't help it it's just how I am I guess

when i was binge watching alot maps ( 1 hour straight ) i saw this at the top of my screen, i never bothered to click on this map cause i thought it was one of those slow maps that are 20 mins long, but at this point i watched alot of maps and thirsting a taste of a new map.......

Nate, if there is something that I love is that you put in the skin of the characters, imagining feelings or the authors would describe, and you manage give it live in a creative script

He likely felt sorta attached to Hollyleaf. You gotta remember, he didn’t know her very well. He probably faintly missed her presence and misses her from time to time.
And then there's Nightcloud, not letting him see his own child and blaming him for existing

I now realised, how sad his story is, how broken he must feel and the truth, that he might jumped first and die except Feathertail die.

But Feathertail jumped because Sharptooth cornered Crowpaw, so he couldn’t have jumped first. I see the ending as him thinking “what if?” but then realizing no matter what eh did, he couldn’t have prevented her death.

I've never felt much emotion towards MAPs, but this... I truly felt what Crowfeather was going through, and me feeling empathetic, this also affected my view on this map, and wow, the way the artists drew and portrayed Crow's sorrow was stunning, and I keep on coming back to this map, not only because I really like Crowfeather's overall character, and, to feel actual emotion.Nate, I've watched many of your maps, and this has to be downright my favourite. I read the script out of curiosty, and I liked what I saw. When the project had been finished around a week later, my expectations were blown away. Again, this map is hella good, and is very relatable, which to me, equals emotion, and crying through my nose, thats all I've got to say about this.
this song is very emotional, and I feel we can all understand why.. no one is perfect, we are all weird in a way. but that’s good. we should be different, it’s nice to not know a few people who are exactly the same. whoever read this, you’re not perfect, but you’re amazing.

Softkittes lip syncing is in my opinion really great along with the head movement although they are probably just starting to animate they did really well

A clear example how hurt people can also hurt people. Maybe even more then those who haven't been hurt as much as they were. I'm not saying that its okay how Crowfeather treated Nightcould and Breezepelt, but I can also feel Crow's pain. Everybody he loved died and that deffinetly left a wound on him.

This made me cry! People need to give Crowfeather more love he deserves more he couldn’t save Feathertail he tried his best to be a better father to Breezepelt Lionblaze Jayfeather and Hollyleaf guys he tried! He was rude at times but he still tried to love his kits he was depressed after Feathertail died I cried along with him when she died he is my fourth favorite character people show him love he deserves more…❤😢

Woah, this is heavy. At least with his super edition, things are turning around some for him. Slowly but surely.
Just everything about this AMV is amazing. The song not only fits amazingly, but sounds wonderful. I've only watched this a couple of times, but already I've got it stuck in my head - the good kind of stuck in my head. Just the song choice makes it an amazing AMV already.
The description was written wonderfully. You described the AMV perfectly, but you went much further. The way you describe everything, how you talk about Nightcloud "couldn't keep setting herself on fire to keep him warm", and of course, that ending sentence, oh wow.
The AMV, the planning, the designs, the animation. So much emotion is clear in every part, all the sadness, the grief. Everyone's design is unique without being overly complicated, I don't think I could do anything close to that good. The lip-synching, how every part fits the lyrics... I think this is one of the best AMVs I've seen. Thank you, so much, each and every one of you who worked on this.

The MAP really changed my view on crowfeather.
First, I always thought of him as an outcast; always so grumpy, so stubborn and rude. I never liked him necessarily. I saw this MAP a while ago, but I just shrugged it off, as I didn't like anything about crowfeather. Now I regret it. This MAP touched me and made me wonder if crowfeather was such a butt because of everyone around him, dying or rejecting him. I looked at all that happened, and when he died instead, I knew that's what he wanted to have happened. But as an apprentice, he was so broken, he couldn't do anything, and watched it all, speechless. As a younger cat, I understand that he was grief-stricken because of it. He never wanted feathertail to die, and he always regrets the day she died.
Basically, crowfeather was broken on the inside, and that's why he has such a terrible temper.

The video showed what happened, but damn. In the description, that's some deep stuff. Although i did watch the video, and I know what happens - the way that it was wrong is so deep, it was heart shattering. You did so well to capture the sadness and sorrow crowfeather felt.
