Black is not for mourning. The black headscarf is the original Xhosa scarf and has white stitches sewn around the edge as decoration. It is sometimes beaded and combined with scarves of other colours to make a large turban
SIs, please tell me, the XHOSA Lapa (cloth) that the men are wearing on their left shoulder, can I wear that same cloth across my left shoulder while wearing my western type of pants like denim jeans and or khaki type pants? Peace and Blessings to you Sister.
Traditionally men use a white blanket with a black stripe on each end and black stripes sewn onto it and older ones are also beaded. More modern dress is a smaller Calico cloth with the stripes
@@ntsindisobidla4027 if you mean why do they wear the cloth, it's actually a modern interpretation of what used the be a white blanket called ingcawe. The cloth is actually not part of real traditional custom

The title God is German and it's not his Name it has only been around for 500yrs so what does the Xhosa say when they read Gen 1 and it says in the beginning GOD

There is no meaning behind the stripes. They are purely cosmetic. You will see that the sub tribes of the Xhosa speaking people each have their own variation of dress. Some leave spaces between the stripes and some sew them directly next to each other so that no white is visible.
