This tutorial was spectacular. I hope I can do as well when I finally try to paint it. I feel like it might take me longer than one hour, but I am going to work very hard on it. I think this is one of your best works.

I love this one. I am however so very frustrated with my paint. I’ve had to stop and take a few hours off because of my frustration. I really thought the Grumbacher Tubes of paint I bought last year for my first AA were heavy body. They are so transparent there is no way they are. I’ve had to paint so many layers to get decent results. Not even good, just decent…. Maybe I would have finished AA21 if I realized my paint was making things harder. I have to add so much extra time, which is what killed me last year. Now that I’ve been painting fairly consistently for the past year I am able to realize that it’s not just me. I ordered Golden paints today ($$$) so hopefully the struggle bus takes off once the new paint arrives. I wanted to add this comment in case anyone else is struggling and thinking it’s just themselves. Even though Cinnamon, you say it, I didn’t realize it actually can be the paint. Even though it’s in tubes, it is definitely a student grade and is making it hard to get the results you are getting.

So cute! What I am finding challenging are the dimensions. I watch on my big screen so i tend to make the objects bigger. I am not tracing, trying to draw. And my three fingers must be totally different from yours :-). All in all though, as long as I finish the painting, I'm pretty satisfied with what I've done. So much fun! A big thank you for your time and talent...

Watching the video FIRST makes it very clear why it's a good idea to do that. When looking at the flowers you might think, how did she do that? How do you make the flowers face different directions? How do you get the greyish shadow at the center of even the brightest flowers? Watching first will give you the answers to all those questions, and then when you paint, you are prepared for why your flowers don't look very good in mid process. You have to think of it like this. You aren't painting "flowers" You are painting shapes and colors. The stroke of the brush can change the way the flower faces, and a touch of ultramarine blue/gray gives you the shadows and shapes you need. Breaking it down into pieces parts makes it more clear. It took me a LONG time to figure this out on my own.

Maggie THANK YOU for leaving this comment. Advice like this is as important as the videos even to new painters because they know its from experience on the other end of the screen. This comment is a blessing

Another Gorgeous painting lesson, thank you! may I ask, why is the highlight a rectangle, on a diagonal? So weird. Can I make it just facing vertically, the big rectangle at least? Then what? Will it look weird?

You can do anything you like with your painting. But not sure I understand what you are referring too. Can you clarify a bit for me? 💞

Do you have the canvas secured to the lazy Susan somehow? Also, how would you swap the copper out for cast iron? Do you have any videos with cast iron items in them? 💜

I have been unwell the last 2 years…like many probably with COVID. I did very little art. And I missed it so much.
I found you again on CZcams. I have a lot to catch on.
Is it bad if I wanted to sell for peanuts..lol. Would it be ok?
Thank you for your generosity in teaching us with passion and fun.
Why do you put layers when you could do it with one layer. I am impatient so trying to understand.
    Anyway thank you so much.
    Warmly
    Jacqueline

Welcome back! So sorry you were sick . Yes you can sell the art, My policy is private sale no worries, in public or online just give a line of credit somewhere for the original design. As for process 2 reasons #1 student paint can not at all do it in one layer and many of my students use that #2 its just better to build. Looks more finished. Since you have been away check out the new minibooks they are AMAZING
