Hey thanks so much, I read my comments so let me know anything that comes to mind! :)
Gr8 vid I definitely think we need a digital detox , youtube has always been one of my favorites 😀
Thanks Brendan. I suffer from all these points and have been searching for help wiht my ADHD. Im a writer and find myself doing a fraction of the creative work I need to from distraction. Your channel is really helpful. Are there any courses you can recomend? Maybe CBT?
Thank youuu
You’re so welcome! :)
well, I had stopped using social midea for 6 months as well as, I tried to stay away from all those acitivies fro long period of time, because i wanted to protect my mind from all the addiction, somehow I am again return to my old habit, ugh its like whats wrong with why i am not able to get over it, would you suggest me some ideas
I know what you mean. First thing to realize is that motivation is key. The deep brain is motivated by a cost-benefit analysis - if it perceives the cost (the harm) of something to be terrible enough, and the benefits good enough, people can be motivated to cross mountains and win against overwhelming odds. First thing you have to tell your brain is that not doing all that it can to protect itself will lead to the worst possible outcome. Feel it. Allow yourself to become terrified by the possibility of your whole life ending up as nothing and being alone (or whatever the worst possible outcome is for you). Then think about what you want in life (people, meaning, happiness) and all the benefits you can obtain if you have enough discipline. All this will allow you to become as resolved as a soldier standing on death ground. Write down the daily habits you need to avoid the worst possible fate, and to achieve your happiest possible outcome. Then do it. Dig deep. Do whatever it takes.
Thank you 🙇
@@zetr0-boy546 You can do this.
How’s everything going that we talked about?
Well, it’s like most of the time I try to stay conscious like not repeating same unhealthy habits, but I have some dark side it’s like keep regrets, why did choose this, why again tempted by those things which is not helping me to feel good about me, so for me I feel so coexisting in my old pattern and new one. But I do remember most of the time I should do this instead of that old unhealthy habits.
Thank you.
Just waiting for the time in future when this channel will explode with numerous useful contents.. Best wishes to you Mr. Meta-Think
Bro 🙏🏼
Thank you! ☺
Good information 😊
Omg, why didn't this go "viral" !? the quality is insane and you come around so professional. I am happy to get you recommendet.
Good stuff right here 👍
That was great, looking forward to more.
Thanks Kyle, there are more videos already in production!
Damn, thats harsh, but I guess I have to try it
but i can't stop using internet, i'm in college for computer science, all my course work requires internet
damn, the sugar example instantly made it clear to me
I used to consume a lot of sugar everyday, especially in my tea because I drink tea daily, but my parents take a lot of care of their health and they always avoid sugar so I tried to copy them, tea without sugar was awful, most of the healthy food they ate was awful.
But I simply kept this no sugar and healthy food diet until a month later I realized now I love healthy food and everything without sugar, I got used to it to the point I now prefer my tea without sugar.
But also I've been struggling mentally, I struggle to get out of bed in the morning and whenever someone tries to wake me up I just yell at them and continue sleeping (usually for 12-15h) even if I have something important to do, even though when i wake up late i always regret it and then spend the whole day procastinating and barely forcing myself to study the exam material crammed up last night before the exam, this has been going on for 4 years.
I don't know what it is but i sure do know I'm addicted to the internet, especially video games and its related youtube content.
So starting from today I'm going to treat the internet like how i treated sugar, cut it until i get used to it and become healthier.
Thanks a lot Brendan for this clear, quick and informative video.
(also funny thing is i clicked on this video then i instantly quit it, but then i realized maybe my brain is doing this because it's uncomfortable from the truth so i clicked on the video again)
This series will be a nice addition to your channel.
What a great video you will reach millions one dayi am telling you
Dopemine Reset - get rid of all the distractions
These steps feel impossible at the point I’m at currently. What would you say to some of the people here that are consuming hours of content each day and aren’t ready to change
These are admittedly drastic steps for those people who need it. But I believe having dedicated online and offline time benefits everyone.
Production quality goes nuts, this will blow up at one point for sure.
Hey thanks let’s hope so! I might change the title - let me know if you have any suggestions! :)
@@Meta-Think I think the current one is fitting but you might need to use some of those "more attractive" ones to gain the initial critical mass of subs. Something like "Gain Extreme Focus - 5 Tips For Controlling Your Mind"... Sounds clickbaity but surely they're used for a reason :P
@@kircaa Good suggestion! I'm going to workshop a few and will be at the top of the list :)
thank you.....subbed
Hey happy you could join us!
Some blanket stuff though. I work at home and need Inet. I think best advice is to understand our internal mechs that are calling for these cheap stimuli and re-prioritising higher centers that will habituate into long term personality change. i.e. really digging into the self to see when our old and weaker self is attempeting sabotagq, rather than superficial "starvation" techniques. In ways this is a bit text book, and a bit void of the internal changes required to make healthy and proper habits. But some good points of course. My 2 cents, keep the change. "Truth without compassion is cruelty"
And here I am feeding my youtube addiction with a video telling me how to quit my youtube addiction.....
Replace the dopamine, instead of quitting CZcams and making a void and then relapsing, replace the watching with someone else to fill that gap
I thought the same after watching the video
Good suggestion. Guess that fits into his recommendation of doing what it takes.
without internet at home how could you supposed to be apply for a job or doing your very important or useful stuff?Nonsense sorry..
Where's a double face palm meme when you need one. Coffee shops, libraries, and hotel lobbies have internet. Also you could do this neat thing where you plug your internet back in when you really need it.
I work from home. I always need a connection. But I'm not addicted so it's ok :)
There's also website blockers where you block any addictive sites like CZcams, Instagram, etc. You can even program them to give a certain amount of time where you can access those sites during your breaks
@@r.d.fodrek Exactly - and going to extremes is only for those who really need it. You can release the straight jacket after you’ve recovered your life balance.
You improved your video editing skills.
Better thumbnail, good intro, laconic video - you will have more views and subscribers.
Thanks for this; I'm a google junkie on the laptop at home seduced by endless 'brain candy'
