As an owner of multiple BMWs there is always something to fix and that's why I always look for the best tool for the job that I can afford. In this case, you are getting a BMW specific scanner that can do almost everything you can imagine but also comes at a great price. I used one of these scanners to fix my BMW Z4's wiring issue as I could see which hall sensors were not working properly. This new version of X431 is able to scan all system modules, do bi-directional items like actuation and active testing as well as special functions.

I also have an i3, BEV, 2015. I have a 94Ah battery, can this do the retrofit functions? Also can it run the built-in HV Battery self-test where it will fully charge, then fully discharge, then fully charge again to determine how much capacity it has lost since new? (same test dealers run for warranty claim determination).
Also how about i3 Sport Mode enable? I replaced my drive motor with a 2018 motor, so it is the better motor... different bearings (mine failed due to bad bearings). I also replaced the transmission with a new one.

You also reviewed the Foxwell NT710. Does the Launch X431 have more functions?
Nowhere in the item name itself it says "pro" though; nor "X431", for the product on your link also. It does say inside the device just "Creader Elite 2.0 BMW". Is there a separate "PRO" version?

Your link takes you to a different scanner...one with buttons on the right, which is more expensive not the one you are reviewing, which is the Creader elite v2.0

So would you recommend this to i3 owners; i have been having intermittent "drivetrain" warning messages. I suspect that they are due to the effects of the cold weather in the 12v, but I wonder if i need to clear the messages once and for all.

Would something like this do most or all functions of ISTA? Or would I still need that to do certain things?
When I mentioned OE level functionality that’s what I meant. I can’t think of anything ISTA can do that this can’t, but there could be some functions.

@@ostyman09Yes you must do it for fuel filter replacement. I just did the fuel filter yesterday. I was able to get it started after buying this. You're going to go into "Special Functions" and then click bleed the fuel system. However I had to loosen 3 of the fuel injectors while bleeding it to let the air out. After that it started
